Well Thursdays storm has taken its toll on pretty much everything, I've lost half of my tomatoes, all of my cucumbers are gone, not sure if my butternut squash and marrow can come back from the damage, my runner beans and sweet corn look bedraggled and I've lost a few of my sunflowers. Overall a very disappointing week. In all my years growing I've never lost this much so early on and it looks like the bad weather is set to continue for at least another couple of weeks.

I've now got some runner beans, borlotto's, and toms outside, plenty more on the go inside. Spent a while sowing turnips, kale and other greens. Seeds from last year are germinating, therefore I've root veg in my salad bar.
Now I appear to have 4 random spud plants in the garden; only had 1 random last year and thought I got all the resulting spuds up.

I'm hoping next year I've enough knowledge to do things better!

What’s annoying me more though is the runner and french beans in the greenhouse. I remember them germinating within days last year and this year no sign of anything after a week. The greenhouse is warm enough to keep everything alive (tomatoes especially), but not warm enough to get seeds going. It’s sitting at between 10 and 15 degrees all day. Leek seedlings in there are also looking a bit floppy and pale but still alive, and don’t seem to be growing much if at all, but never grown them before so not sure if this is right.
It's warm enoughin the day maybe but not in the nights. You might be better off germinating them inside the house then putting them in for the now.

After a week off camping in buckinghamshire (torrential, but lovely!) was a bit apprehensive about what i would find on allotment. A lot of calf height grass and very muddy. 3 of the tomato plants got battered by the wind, put some netting over it. Mr Paul gave me 6 beefstyle tomatoes, think they Roma, to replace what don't survive. Weeded the onion and garlic bed and the broadbean bed. Got a few icicle radishes and babysalad leaves harvested. Was a very nice surprise! Mr Richard showed me how to harvest his asparagus, his wife decided she don't like it anymore, so we can harvest as much as we want! Finally got around to fixing the brassica bed netting frame, wacked the poles so deep, they never moving again! At home moved the newly potted up cherry tomatoes back into the zippy greenhouse, the wind done a number on them. Taking it easy today, back at work tomorrow.

The beetroot, carrots and parsnips that we have planted in pots and troughs are all doing really well now. They seem to have grown more every time you go out into the garden.

Just waiting a little longer for the good weather to fully set in before we plant the chilli plants out though. They are still on the kitchen window cill. They are also doing really well but we don't want to risk putting them out just yet incase the bad weather isn;t over and done with yet!!

Had the bulk compost delivery yesterday, installed the trimmed builders sacks and they're now ready to act as raised beds. I started off my next lot of spuds in one, only another nine to sow and plant.

Today I'm planning a seed sowing session in the borrowed garden, putting some plants in the garden I'm transforming, planting out some more tomatoes and my first lot of squash; frees up space inside for me to get more seeds on the go.

Last night emptied the zippy greenhouse of all the tomatoes, moved all the pumpkin, squashes etc in there.
Can't wait for next day off to go to allotment for a bit.

All the beans and peas lovingly grown from seed are back to stumps after slugs/snails and maybe pigeons have been there. We know it isn't rabbits as we have rabbit fencing round each individual bed in the veg garden. More seeds, direct in the ground now
