NST: January 2021 – the Turtles do the Jitterbug
Comments
-
Hi Turtles, I've taken some time to go through @apple_muncher's plan in the first post.
Janus - looking back to look forward. I will spend some time relecting on the past year using @mothernerd's plan in the second post. I'll do this tonight in my lovely new journal. I've had a chat today with OH and we have planned some house upgrades as part of our plans for 2021. This follows on from some work we had done in the garden during 2020. No major renovations just minor upgrades. I started this of today by purchasing some new chairs for our kitchen table.
Ideas - Be Creative. I am using and developing my creativity in our house upgrades in gardening (planning to grow most of our plants from seed this year as a start), playing with new make-up (this is a new thing for me as I rarely wear make-up but I am enjoying it), planning to crochet gifts this year for Chrstmas.
Thrift - I will be decluttering this year, starting in January. Tonight I am going to inventory my toiletries and skincare stuff to see what I have and plan for what I'll need in coming months and make sure I only buy what I actually need. I have bought some bits in the sales, all paid for in cash.
Time - I'll spend time walking daily. I am blessed with lots of lovely local walks I can use while travel out of our local area is discouraged. Spending lots of quality time with OH away from the TV.
Extras - I will plan 3 weekely exercise sessions. I really need this as too much sitting about means my joints are feeling stiff and creaky. Probably stretches and weight sessions.
Revisit - I have done my budget for the month and actioned most of it already. Aiming for 15 NSDs.
Be Yourself - Less time in fromt of the TV. More time reading books, being out in the garden (even if all I'm doing is clearing snow!), cook and craft more. Prayer and working on improving my spiritual life.
Unburden - I'll do this in my journal and think about things I need to let go of including certain habts and behaviours that no longer serve me.
Gratitude and generosity - I want to work on being more grateful and build this into my journalling. Generosity will involve family and friends. I have offered my old kitchen chairs to a friend who loves to upcycle as a start.8 -

I'm back, and hoping to find extra hours in the day from somewhere.
I have really missed you turtles and would love to be back in for 2021 if you'll have me. Hopefully I can keep going no matter what work throws at me but I don't mind admitting I'm more jittery than jitterbug at the moment. I will get there though - I always do.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

JAN PLANS
Janus - I've reviewed my year on my MFW diary and set some plans/ goals for 2021 there, too
Lots of positive stuff, despite the pandemic
Ideas. Will be using up foodstuffs and trying out new (well, old but haven't worn in ages!) clothes that I can re-fit into. And maybe trying some new recipes and baking
Much as I need to garden, it is so cold in Jan!- maybe I'll just make plans for warmer months
.
Thriftiness - lots of decluttering goes on here - sell/ donate/ recycle. Small pile of donations ready for the CS where I volunteer when they reopen (tier 4 here from midnight last night
) Will look to list things on flebay/ fb00k/ Oli0 in Jan
Purchases planned = replacement things for house (for broken or very tatty items) and that's it - so far..... Although DH is looking for some blootooth speakers for his new turntable....
Time - hmmm.... looks like some homelearning is on the cards for Jan! Will try and get people out for walks (I don;t mind teh cold, but do object to getting needlessly wet!) No idea when DS1 will be returning to his uni house....
Extras. You need to incorporate 3 proper exercise sessions a week. - Yep. No gym due to tier 4 but will Zumba to yootoob or row min 3x/ week (ideally 4x, as it makes a definite difference to my weight loss)
<<b>Re-visit your budgets for the month. - one of my to-do jobs - although ever-changing rules means ever-changing budgets... sigh... ( This month we are going for 15 NSDs.)
Be yourself. What do you need to be yourself? What makes you happy? What do you want more of? And less of? Take a look at your own needs and look after yourself first. Eat well. Move enough. Get the sleep your body needs. - will be back to healthier eating (along with the min 3x exercise) - and Jan seems a good month for soups - I want less blubber
. No idea about work yet - was all planned in for 2 weeks at 1 school, 2 weeks at another... but who knows right now?!
Unburden yourself. Of regrets. Of toxicity. Of unloved items. Of negativity. Replace with joy and fun. Identify your stress buttons and find ways to switch them off. People? Circumstances? Things that do/don’t happen? Choose not to be drained by external factors. - will be unburdening myself of things, for sure. Always good to look at social media and unfollow/ delete people/ pages, too
- and unsubscribe from emails...
Gratitude. Let’s start the day with it and end the day with it. - much to be thankful for
Generosity. Let’s share what we have. - donations of time/ items to CS and will check foodbank's post-Xmas wish list. And will make use of 0li0 (both ways)

Janus – Planning some positive actions. Taking each month as it comes as to what I want to achieve.
Ideas. Will be doing mindfulness colouring. Planning to do more baking.
Thriftiness –Will be using up what I have already in, eg handcreams etc before I get anymore in. Have already ordered some pj’s which I needed, used vouchers that I was given. Going to be picking them up on Saturday in store. Going to consider as to what I buy, give time out before final decision.
Time – Will try my best to go for a walk each day, no matter how long or short it is.
Extras. – Will try my best. I have been offered some temp work in January, waiting to hear as to what days I have been offered. Luckily it is 9am to 5pm weekdays at this location. Have to adjust as I have not worked for a very long time.
Re-visit your budgets for the month. - My budget has been set for January and for the whole year. January is an expensive month, as I pay the full amount for the year of the service charge for the flat, annual prescription charge card and a few other things that I need to pay.
Be yourself. Will need to look after myself more this month as I am returning to temp work. Looking at more ways to do self care.
Unburden yourself. This will be an ongoing process.
Gratitude. Let’s start the day with it and end the day with it.
Generosity. Let’s share what we have. Will be making an donation to a charity.
