@Fayolle well done you! Your future self will be very thankful to you for writing that letter. I hope your notice period isn't too lengthy. I shall be thinking of you tomorrow xx
@roundtuit - I feel more like Cinderella most days in her cleaning clobber! No lippy here but always, always bronzer and perfume, no matter how rubbish I feel. Keep on keeping on with that mantle xx
Well I chopped wood and we also managed to go for an hour long walk. Message from kids school (primary) - we're having a meeting this afternoon, we may not reopen on Tuesday after all... what the actual ?**? We are in Tier 3, no other trusts in the area have made any noises about keeping primaries shut. My children will be able to access key worker places so would still attend, but what a way to make Sunday afternoon even more angsty - waiting for another message from school. If they do shut, we have to submit copies of our recent wage slip, have an email from our employer etc - I can feel my shoulders rising at the thought. Breathe, breathe.Hugs to all xx8 -
Afternoon all
Just popping on to send some hugs and sparkly flylady dust in the direction of anyone in need x
My jobs for today are done, I’m at the reading and pottering stage, I’ve managed to resist the work laptop lurking like my own gremlin upstairs, I will face it at 8am tomorrow.
Take care all, see you on the new thread xx8 -
I've spent about an hour making gift tags for next Christmas from this year's cards. Going to watch The Serpent now.Spend less now, work less later.9

Hi all
I have ventured into my office and dragged out the bin bags full of wrapping paper, the cardboard boxes, and various other bits of gibble that have been flung in there over Christmas. Like BadCat I eyed the work laptop sitting on the desk with my work notebook and filofax neatly stacked on top of it, and quickly turned away.
I have sorted a couple of kitchen cupboards to make way for the huge amount of Christmas booze that we were given, and managed to make space for the slow cooker so it doesnt have to sit on the worktop any more. Having a brew now then will stack all the bags and cardboard into the shed for now, we will go to the recycling when its likely to be less busy.
Fayolle sounds like the right decision for you, like ASB I hope your notice period is not too long.
I am massively comforted by knowing I am not alone in dreading the back to work tomorrow, what would I do without you all x9 -
I have finished making the 2nd Christmas present (sewn, not knitted, but still took a ridiculous amount of time), wrapped it, along with DSis and DBiL birthday presents (later this month, they might get them in the summer) and best friend’s birthday present (hanging around from last summer, she may get it this year along with her Christmas present). Labelled using tags made from old Christmas and birthday cards as appropriate, and ribboned using repurposed ribbons from the wrapping drawer. An mse start to the year. I have 8 more birthdays to buy cards for towards the end of this month. I have my mum’s stash of card making stuff, so there are no excuses to go hm beyond my own ineptitude.I’m curled up on the settee, not particularly impressed with the world tbh. I might have a scroll through iPlayer, which is unheard of for me during the day. Oh and I have Christmas chocolate next to me, which I know I will regret, but still.... willing to put the kettle on if anyone fancies joining me for a cuppa x7

Only skim read as not a good day. Hospital rang at 2am to say MIL had deteriorated so is back on oxygen. We both managed a bit of sleep, got up, breakfast, WM then DW on in a bit of a daze. Next info about 10am was that the Covid had taken hold and although they were trying to get a dementia-proof oxygen mask which she wouldn't rip off, it was not a good prognosis. 11am to say it would be about 24hrs. Mr N discussed going in to see her, but when doctor heard what medication /health conditions Mr N was on, she said she wouldn't really advise it, especially as MIL was very confused and in fact hasn't really known who he is for the last few visits in the home. BIL fully supports this and said Mr N shouldn't put himself at risk, nor should he feel bad about it. Mr N said if he felt it would do her any good at all, he would go and sit with her but consensus is that it wouldn't. So we are just waiting for another phone call now.
In the meantime (or rather during all this) i've done an on line church service and we went for a long walk.
I'm now finalising my last report so I will be ready to do whatever Mr N needs me to do.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Narc0, my thoughts are with you, Mr N and your BiL. Many hugs x7
