sugarbaby125 said:When I went for my vaccine, I was wearing solid gold jewellery and my Tissot gold plated watch. I also layered my perfume and my whole outfit was red and black and I was carrying my red Osprey leather handbag. I met a man I knew when I went into the room to rest for 15 minutes. He wanted to talk to me, but I was just polite as I know that he fancies me and I did not want our conversation to turn flirty like it normally would if I was meeting him in the local Jamaican wine bar that I know him from.
Sorry to hear about the dental problems and the post jab symptoms.. Hopefully none will last long and be worth it in the long run. 😊
I know we have wide ranging conversations on the thread but I like i that way. Compared with some other threads, it always stays polite and reasoned even if we disagree. It's been a good forum for debate when we haven't been able to talk to RL friends in person in the past year.
A blak denim jacket sounds good Wednesday. I like to be able to dress up plain basics. I've used my Joules multicoloured scarf quite a lot lately to give some colour to black coats.

Apparently M&S have a new range coming out for the spring. It has dresses that are a bit Kate Middleton and various other items that sound good. One of the problems with M&S (amongst many😉) is that they sometimes hit on gems that could bring people back to shopping there but availability lets them down. It'll be interesting to see if it works this time.

Shopping day today! It's bright and sunny if a bit cold. Will definitely be doing Fab Friday. 😁

I've been to see the hygienist today. It was great. We have been seeing her for over 20 years, remember her children being born, starting school, all the landmarks so we had a good chat and I got a gold startfor the state of my teeth so that made me happy.
It was very cold here first thing, front on the cars but it is lovely now.
Hope you will be over the aches and pains post vaccine soon Sugarbaby.
I've had a check of bank online and I'm pleased how my new system is going, makes sense of what is going in and out. I've actually saved quite a bit over the last year, no trips away for a start. We don't manage proper holidays due to husband's health issues but we normally have several short trips so we've saved on hotels, meals out, petrol. I've also spent very little on clothes and shoes but I do need to buy some trousers. I was sorting a dark wash this morning, two pairs of black trousers and one pair of navy blue trousers got splashed with bleach when I was cleaning and I now need to buy some new trousers as they had big brown marks on them. Expensive morning.7 -
Thanks for the M&S link. I like some of the shirt dresses, especially the denim ones.I had one way back in the mid 70s. It was so useful, It was quite a heavy denim so sometimes I wore it as a lightweight coat or sometimes as a dress. I loved it and wore and wore and wore it. Wished I'd kept it. 😂. But then I could say that for so many of my clothes. 😌.They were so much better quality than most of today's offerings. I think at the time I paid around £30, from C&A, so £49 in today's money isn't bad at all although I wonder if the modern fabric would be as good. A reasonable denim should be practically indestructible, unless of course you are riding in a rodeo. Ha ha.
I think thats where so much modern clothing falls down, some of the designs are great it's just that the fabric they are made of is often flimsy and inferior. I guess that's one way they keep costs so low (and cheap Labour of course).I had a quick look in Asda yesterday. Some nice pieces for spring, but again whilst I thought some of the spring/summer tops were nice I was very disappointed with the fabric. You just know it's going to look creased with minutes of putting the garment on and then after a couple of washes it's going to look like a dish cloth.
I always have to smile in Asda when I see the sign that says a garment is guaranteed for 100 days. !!! 😱. Sorry, but I expect clothes to last longer than that.😉. They did have some nice jeans though, although I didn't part with my money. I have plenty of jeans, it's tops and lightweight knitwear I need.9 -
I think it's mainly the fabrics/quality is why we like to shop in person LL. I know it's not very Covid friendly but as soon as I see something I like I have to touch it to check whether I could have the fabric next to my skin. I can see why a denim shirt dress would be so useful. The Zara shirt dress I bought about 2 years ago has been brilliant. Occasionally I wear it on it's own but more often I wear leggings underneath (thermal top too if it's cold) and leave the buttons open like a coat. I see they had a spotty dress in the M&S like my other Zara one and also wrap arounds. I've been really pleased with the one I got from Nobody's Child.
I have this one and I notice it's now reduced. I thought it was excellent at full price.

That's quite a few firsts for you lately pixie. Well done for looking after your teeth. 😁

well done on your excellent teeth hygiene purple pixie. I never looked after my teeth as a child, they aren't great. I had a dental bridge done in Turkey about 15 years ago, lots of crowns , had root canals, gaps at the back etc. Wish I could turn back the clock!I had my vaccine too with being a carer for my Brother with Down's syndrome. I didn't have any side effects. They are fairly romping on with the vaccines in this area. My sister's partner who is 59 is booked in for Wednesday.Back to school for me on the 8th, I have been working from home.Managed to get a few bits of tidying in the garden. My hands aren't quite as dry, using a body shop mango hand cream religiously8

100 days of a clothing guarantee is madness. That is off-putting- like we know our quality is not great but it's better than the worst. I bought a dress on amazon last year for five pounds. One wash and it is shrunk and not great. This time has made me realize I don't need loads of items more to have. I am more selective and focuses in the future.
Day 2 after the injection- no issues.
Pixie- its a pain to damage clothes especially with replacements hard to obtain. Is it only me but I feel like living through this time makes me understand my grandmother more with her attitude of make do and mend. She was frugal, not mean at all but knew when to splurge and when to use up what you have. I feel more understanding of her. I been so good with online shopping- nothing since December and that was a credit on amazon to be used up.

My tooth started hurting yesterday when the injections wore off and I had to have another nap as I had one in the afternoon the day before. I didn't get around to calling the GP surgery so I will have to do it next week. I really have to as I'm hoping that it might be my thyroid causing the fatigue and not fibromyalgia back again. Anyway, stressing about it won't help so I will just try and chill out about it.
I had a bath with ylang ylang essential oil this morning. I was watching a new Davina McCall video today when I was in there. It was her showing an outfit she wore to make herself stand out. A red and black stripey jumper and she was doing her beauty and makeup afterwards. She said her makeup artist told her not to ever put eyeliner on the bottom part of your eye as it looks too heavy, only the top. It was funny as she said about plucking her eyebrows when she was younger and then they don't grow back. Mine are the same although I read that could be thyroid-related. She was using eyebrow mascara to fill them out, I think she called it.
I put on my black maxi skirt with a black long sleeved top and put a short sleeved Oasis silver grey top (CS) over it. I think I have only worn this top once before. I am trying to wear the necklaces I don't normally wear. I'm wearing a phoenix one that matches one of my tattoos.
I have my New Look and Sainsbury's deliveries today, oh the excitement. I am going to be reading again today. I'm really powering through my books on my kindle, which is good as one of them I bought back in 2013 when I checked! I deleted that one.
I'm about to watch another Davina video called my quick post-40 makeup routine.8 -
Good morning lovely ladies.SFT....how annoying about your dress and pixie, how frustrating about getting bleach on your trousers. . SFT I must admit I'm a bit like your gran. I don't think I'm mean but I am "careful". Coming from a modest background I learned thrift and frugal living from my family. It was all about make do and mend. Very little was thrown away. And my dad was particularly inventive and very good at what we now call upcycling. He did all our shoe repairs and shoes were polished every night. My mum hated sewing but she was a brilliant laundress and loved ironing. She took great pride in keeping everything pristine and beautifully pressed. When I was very little dad did the basic sewing such as replacing buttons etc but it turned out that I was the one with sewing skills so from quite a young age I was in charge of minor clothing repairs.I was brought up to always get changed out of my good things. It was drilled into me. We all did it, not just our family but it was just the done thing. By comparison clothing was more expensive than it is today so people did take good care of their clothes. Old habits die hard and I still make an effort to look after my things. Although I'm less strict about keeping things for "best" I still differentiate between house clothes and going out clothes and of course I keep back the real old tat for diy and gardening. I even wear aprons........😂Thought I was better yesterday, today symptoms have returned. Hey ho, just have to ride out it out. Unfortunately I'm not the worlds most patient of patients.😉Looks like another nice day....brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies.Have a great weekend.10

good that you have no issues after the vaccine Savingfortomorrow, sorry about your toothache Wednesday. When I've had dental work done in the past sometimes I have had pain for a few days. I once had a tooth out and still had toothache for days, I began to think that they had removed the wrong tooth! Sorry you are still under the weather LL, hope you are fully recovered soon.I remember always getting changed out of my school uniform (High School, no uniform then at Primary), things were expensive and had to be looked after. I also remember when my girls now 34 and 28 next week were little uniform was so expensive, but now more and more places sell it its become much cheaper. You can pick polo tops up for the little ones in Aldi for about £1.25.Dull here, looks a bit cold but at least its fine.Enjoy your day everyone9

The pearls I treated myself to, and my new "birthday" dress. Doesn't look much on the hanger, much nicer on.13
