I've been watching It's a Sin. it on all4. Bit of a tear jerker about the Aids crisis in the 80s/90s. A warning, if you are offended by sex scenes in general or homosexual sex scenes then don't watch as it is a bit explicit at times, I didn't watch with GS although we watch lots together, I'm broadminded but I think it was a bit much for a 16 year old to watch with his gran.
GS is happy he is definitely back at school on the 8th, I hope the rest of the plans work out.6 -

Wednesday- you're right Prue's thing is a bit cluttered. It makes me feel like I would spend an hour looking for one necklace- in the manner of wheres wally? Your birthday necklaces and creams will be lovely.
That probably explains why I like it, I don't wear jewellery so it would just be a decoration for me and I wouldn't be looking for a necklace to wear.7 -

Oh dear sugarbaby. Why do you think you hare on the vulnerable list this time but not before? 🤔 Do you think it's until you get both vaccines?
It's a gloriously sunny day here. 😊
My car needed to go in for a routine service. DH volunteered to take it in for me but I said I'd go with him and we could walk back. It was a pleasure to be out and we did just short of 9 000 steps. It was so mild that I found myself opening my coat and taking my gloves off to cool down.
I must admit I've long since given up on trying to remember all the rules and regulations so I just try and work on a need to know basis. I watched the parliamentary statement yesterday but had to switch it off from frustration because there were no answers to any of the questions. I think there are so many people who either don't understand or just bend the rules to suit themselves. We walked across open parkland this morning and there were heaps of people in groups of more than two. No way were they all bubbles or families.
I've worked out that by the time it's my birthday next month we'll be able to go out and not be at risk of a fine if we don't exercise. Although I would want a walk as well, I'm thinking that if the weather was good enough (like today) then we could take a picnic somewhere. I'm determined to do something different. I'm not sure how far we're allowed to travel though. 🤔
Almost 2 months until hairdressers can open so I'll definitely have to cut my own fringe. I think I'll have to give myself another manicure too. My nails are getting too long to type accurately.
I'm going to be quite lazy this afternoon. I haven't started a new book yet but there's a pile of magazines (mostly passed on from DD) piling up in the sitting room. I think I'll sit and browse through those to decide if there's anything worth keeping in them before the pile gets any higher.😉6 -
Good Mornjng lovely ladiesSUgarbaby.....do take care my dear. After all your grief and loss you must be running on empty. Time to really look after yourself to regain your physical strength. And that's without Long Covid and the after effects of how ill you were last year.Speaking of illness.....still no voice, still quite congested but definitely on the mend now. Just a question of time.Re tv viewing.....not seen Its a Sin yet. It's on my list.Candy thanks for the heads up on the Asian wedding thing. Sounds fun, Have you seen the film "Crazy Rich Asians". It's a hoot. I'll be watching our friend Lucy Worsley tonight, she's doing a programme about the Blitz Spirit. I wonder if she will be in 40s style costume.Thought Boris looked particularly dishevelled yesterday, poor man did look the worse for wear. Looked like he'd slept in his suit. Don't they have an iron at no 10. 😂. I noticed his voice was breaking up too. He sounded very hoarse. Not surprising, given he'd spent hours addressing parliament. When I was Corporate Woman I would often come home practically hoarse, and would have to rest my voice. It's not only singers who struggle with their vocal chords but teachers in particular and everyone who needs to talk a lot as part of their job can end up with problems.I thought Boris looked very tired too, in fact a lot of them are looking exhausted. It can't be easy, they have an awful lot on their plates. The role of PM is a something of a poisoned chalice at the best of times and let's face it, so far the new decade hasn't seen the best of times. And just to pile on the misery for Boris, I understand Dylan the Dog is being very naughty at no 10. 😂. Wonder if he gets on with Larry (Downing Street cat). Anyway, Apparently Dylan has been chewing furniture at Chequers. 😱😂.Pixie.....took a leaf out of your book and did a money sort out this Morning. Worked out my budget for the next three months. I'm happy enough. Looking forward to getting my little business venture up and running. It won't make me rich but a bit of extra income will be welcome.I definitely need to cut my fringe. It won't last till April. I'm being very lazy today, need to get a wiggle on.Stay well and happy. The worst is over.Onwards and upwards,6

I was saying to my kids we will forget all this, watching It's A Sin reminded me of what a big thing the HIV epidemic was and then there was the Mad Cow Disease scare, weren't we all supposed to be dead by now? We don't think of it now do we. We did have a scare when DD was doing A levels, she had a part time job in hospitality and got a needle stick injury, back then you waited weeks for a result. It was terrifying.

I'm afraid I don't feel much sympathy for Boris and Co, if they don't like it there are other people who can do their jobs. I think of Boris and all the back stabbing he did to Theresa May and think sometimes people need to reflect on their behaviour.8 -
Who do you think would be a better bet. .........Starmer seems smart enough for sure, and I think he would give it a fair crack of the whip but can he sort out the Party. He's got a huge task ahead of him on that front. He's dragging a dead horse behind him.
Tbh I think whoever is PM, President, monarch or whatever you want to call them, most leaders usually have an unenviable task. And, much as it pains me to say it, I don't think being "nice" is what's needed in a leader, it's not enough. Having a killer instinct and possessing a ruthless streak are probably requisite, as is an in-depth knowledge of Machiavellis teachings. More than anything they have to be cunning, wily and yes at time duplicitous. Both Churchill and Elizabeth 1, who were two of our greatest and most popular leaders, were far from nice. Two extremely intelligent, and cunning individuals who knew how to look at the big picture and play the long game and who could be ruthless when necessary. As I've often said before I'm just glad it's not me in the hot seat. As Shakespeare said ......"heavy lies the crown". It takes a terrible toll on the wearer. You only have to look at the before and after pictures to see what leadership does. Theresa May, Blair, Cameron, even Obama all looked at least 20 years older after their stint in office. Lincoln looked like a walking cadaver. Oddly enough Maggie Thatcher seems to be the only one who didn't age much, during her time in office. She seemed to thrive.😉
I do feel a certain sympathy for any leader, whether political, or even some captains of industry. Someone has to take the tough decisions and it can be lonely up there on those pedestals.Anyway......the good news. My covid test came back negative.I have to say I'm extremely impressed with how the system works. I ordered my test kit online, got it next day. I posted the kit back yesterday, got the result back today. Can't ask for more than that. The NHS has set up priority collection boxes with the Royal Mail so you can even post back kits at weekends and bank holidays and it will be picked up that day. You just have to register and then make sure you use a priority Mail box. The test itself is easy enough to do, only takes a few seconds. Of course testing centres are even quicker for results but for anyone who can't get to a testing centre then the diy version is brilliant. And it's nice to know that I have "just" a lurgy, even if it is horrible.😂🤣.9 -
You must be so pleased to get a negative test Helen Such a relief.Debt free and Keeping on Track6
