I went to Sainsbury's this afternoon. I needed some birthday cards ,one urgently. I normally buy my 'normal' birthday cards in the CS but I've run out completely. I can't wait for them to open again and stock up. I always think that if charity Christmas cards are OK, why not birthday cards. I probably had to spend about 3 times the usual price today.
I did notice that thermal vests were reduced to half price (£6 instead of £12). I bought myself a purple sparkly one. I think they're brilliant for layering and OK on their own at home. The other bonus is that, as well as the warmth, I don't have to wash jumpers so often as they're not next to my skin. Hope that doesn't make me sound too much of a slob! 😁
Ed Balls won the Celebrity Home Cook last night. His success seemed to come from cooking tried and tested recipes that his mother taught him and he cooked regularly at home. That's my sort of cooking, although I think we have become more adventurous and cosmopolitan over the years. I suppose it's a mixture of foreign travel and the huge choice of different cuisines in restaurants. When I was a child, the only spaghetti was Heinz in a tin! 🤣9 -
maman I can’t wait for Card Factory to reopen, so I can stock up on cards. I always kept a stash in my drawer at work to avoid paying overinflated Central London prices.

,Chanie I found out last week that Card Factory is online
It was only because I was reading about the latest financial quarter for Card Factory that I realised that Card Factory was also online. I was so used to shopping in the stores, that I had never stopped to consider if they also did online sales.
What was even more of a revelation is that there is an abundance of choice online and you can also personalise cards and have them sent direct to the recipient which in Lockdown made life so much simpler for me when I wanted to send a birth congratulations card to my grandson and his partner and a sympathy card to my Aunt.9 -
Mama- I nearly ways buy birthday cards in the charity shops, and hoping they. Open before may/ June when have mass of bdays.
Trying to get out of fleece and wear nice jumper and putting my earrings in everyday. Small pearl studs - always lose earrings so buy in bulk at primarni and not much diff from much more expensive ones.
Someone mentioned cardies with hoods - would love to know where to get them. Used to wear a lot of red and pinks but then started to get rosacae and realise not a good look and my dark hair has lost its depth, still only grey strands at side so buying more blues. Take care all8 -
Sorry maman, autocorrect on my daughters spare phone while waiting for new one to arrive ( bargain offer with JL cheaper than the high Street chain.7

Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes. I wish I could give you better news. I still feel dreadful. Whatever "it" is, it's isn't going away soon. Hey ho I will just stay home, warm, safe and resting. It has now gone on to my chest and I have completely lost my voice so obviously my larynx is also affected. I do have an unused pack of anti biotics (the dentist prescribed them for me just in case, but I didn't need them). I prefer to manage without resorting to drugs if I can and let my body do its job but I have to say it reassuring to know they are there if I really need them. I'll just see how I go.I think one of the downsides of living in semi isolation for so long (almost a year now isn't it) is that it can weaken our immune systems. I believe we need to get out there and risk a few bugs in order to keep our immune systems strong. There's more out there than "just" covid and our bodies have to be able to cope with all manner or viruses, bugs, microbes etc. In the meantime I will just have to be more vigilent about taking vitamins and getting some fresh air when I feel up to it.Apparently my son who has asthma has received a text to say he is no longer in group 6. Apparently all "non severe" asthmatics have been reassessed and downgraded, and are
not now seen as a priority. Not sure I agree......asthma is asthma and even when it's kept under control it can still be very dangerous if something goes awry.My sister always kept her asthma under control but when she lived in London she was hospitalised regularly, usually in summer when traffic congestion contributed to high levels of pollution. She nearly died more than once.Whilst I want to "trust the science", let's just say I have concerns. 😟8 -
Hope you're feeling a bit better today LL. I was reading that you can get a worse reaction if you've had Covid and many of my friends are convinced they had it around February time last year but passed it off as flu or a persistent cough. Unfortunately it also means that reactions could be worse after the second dose of vaccine.
I'm still trying to decide which size of my cardigan/hoodies to keep. I'm wavering towards the larger one as hoodies are meant to be loose and casual rather than tailored but still unsure. Mine is quite an expensive one TC77.

although I did get a reduction with a code and free post and packing. There are cheaper ones around. I can't remember who but someone bought a longline one recently. It may have been this one.

I really like the one I bought from H&M between lockdowns. It's lovely and warm and soft but but it doesn't have a zip and sadly it's out of stock at the moment.

I've decided to hold off before buying the Clinique products I need. I realised yesterday, when I was shopping for cards, that as well as my birthday next month it's also Mothers' Day. They often fall around the same time, two years ago they were on the same day. I've found that there are often offers or really good gift sets around near Mothers' Day (and Christmas) so I'll see what's about before treating myself. Sometimes my DDs ask what to get for me too so I'll wait for a week or two and see what happens.
Big event of the week today. Food shopping!! 🤣
