Frump to Fab 2021

Hello
I've popped into previous Frump threads but not really managed to make much progress. 2020 was supposed to be the year of losing the weight and building my emergency fund but I only managed the emergency fund.
Due to personal stuff, my life has been completely turned upside down this year and it's definitely not the life I imagined I'd be living. But, it is what it is and I need to start learning how to make the best of it.
So 2021 is the year to tackle the physical side of 'healthy, fit & strong'.
I'm eating up the last of the beige in the house and I've pre-ordered Dr Chattergee's new book on losing weight ( I bought his book The 4 Pillar Plan and really enjoyed some of the ideas in it) and so it's time for change.
Hope you don't mind me joining back in9 -
Welcome to all the newbies. The ladies on this thread are so wise and we have lots of interesting chat.
I feel like I have enough clothes and accessories for now. This isn’t purely down to the pandemic, though - I have just built a decent wardrobe over the years and there isn’t anything I need or want at the moment, that’s why I’m thinking of treating myself to a designer bag.This is the bag I want;

I’ve saved up my birthday and Christmas money. Plus I’m saving my budgeted treat money, which I would normally spend on clothes, make up etc.One thing I’m trying at the moment is lash and brow growth serum, which I bought today. I’m not interested in getting the falsies that all the 20 year olds are wearing, so I thought I’d try a serum. I’ll keep you all updated as to progress.7 -
Hope everyone had a good Christmas. I haven't been around for a while, son got covid so worrying Christmas for us. I was upset at how many neighbours ignored the rules and had people visiting at Christmas, staying for several nights. One couple had visitors from a high tier area staying for 4 nights and have now gone away themselves. At least we now have hope with the Oxford vaccine approved. People just need to be sensible for a few weeks.7

Good to see you posting pixie. We missed you. 😊 So sorry to hear about your son, hope he's on the mend. My brother got it too. He lives in a massively high risk area but doesn't know where he got it from as he hasn't really been anywhere but the supermarket. I'm finding this highly contagious new strain a bit worrying. I've done all the recommended things to protect myself but I'm sure that's true of many people who have caught it. 🤔
I had a long chat (phone) with a friend earlier which was good to catch up. I don't comment but she told me her DD stayed 2 nights over Christmas. She lives just over an hour away so it wasn't essential (or allowed). My friend is very careful and I actually wonder whether some people genuinely misunderstand, especially with the constant changes.
That's a fabulous bag chanie. Are you planning to buy the rose gold colour? 🤔 Oh and yes, please do tell us if the eyebrow serum works at all. 😊
I don't really need anything either for my wardrobe or make up/skincare. There are old favourites I'd replace if I saw exactly what I wanted, like my duvet coat, but I think my current one will see me through this winter and I have other coats if I need to look a bit smarter. Normally I'd do a bit of browsing in the sales and when the spring ranges come out but as the shops are closed that's not going to happen. To be honest, even when they were open I couldn't be bothered to queue to just browse. I'm also enjoying making do with what I've got, especially working my way through various toiletries.
I'm still enjoying my audiobooks. I love pottering about in the kitchen and listening to them. Currently I'm part way through Anthony Trollope's The Pallisers. Briefly, it's about the influence of society women in the Victorian era who, while not allowed to vote themselves, had considerable political power. Carrie Simmonds comes to mind! 🤣

Welcome to the newbies 👋.
Had a lovely day out in Weymouth today - too cold for fish & chips on the quay though ❄️. We did have a lovely pub lunch and timed that just right as we are now moving in to tier 3 as of midnight ☹️.
I keep meaning to try some audiobooks maman - is there a particular site you use?
That handbag is gorgeous chanie - I bought two Osprey bags in 2019 which I love - exactly the same style of bag but in two colour ways - a black for winter and a cashmere one for the summer months. They weren’t quite in the same price bracket as yours but more than I would normally spend on a handbag. I would definitely be interested to hear how it goes with the lash and brow serum as I have tiny eyelashes.
I do think people are genuinely confused with the rules as my elderly aunt who is 89 and lives alone in a tier 4 area spent Christmas Day with her friends (who are her support bubble) and their son & daughter-in-law and didn’t realise she wasn’t supposed to.

Good to see you posting again Katie 😊 Good luck with the weight loss. It's the best thing I've done and really motivated me to do more fabbing. I've never looked back.
The great thing about the thread is sharing tips and general chat. I wonder if it's worth posting about our successes and regular practices. I know I'm really motivated when LL posts about, for example, posture and perfume.
I use the BBC Sounds App sukey. They have all the books that have been serialised on the radio and also books that have been dramatised in the Drama section. There are lots of other things on there too, depending on your preferences. 😊6 -

Katie welcome to the thread.
sukey I like Osprey bags. I have a couple of bags from Michael Kors, coach and Aspinal, but this will be a once in a life purchase.
maman your quote about Carrie Simmonds really had me sniggering with laughter.
xmas eve tomorrow. I thinking of doing a buffet for dinner. Lots of nibbles and party food for us all to enjoy. I think this will be the first time the children will be staying up until midnight. Normally, they will have fallen asleep or we have to wake the up.6 -
Hello to all the new people.
I have pre-ordered that Dr Chatterjee book too Frankie. Good on you for having an emergency fund.
We finished watching The Boys today. OMG, it was the best TV show I have seen in a while. I read that the third series is only going to start at the earliest in the autumn 2021! Nooo!I hope it is worth the wait.
I am planning on covering up my husband's grey hair tomorrow and rearranging some furniture from the bedrooms.
I want to do some chazzer shopping as soon as I can next year. I want some new jackets and boots and hopefully some old magazines so I can start to create my vision board in January.
I'm going to watch another YT event tomorrow night for NYE. I probably won't bother to dress up for it. Lol.
