Hello and welcome to ShabbyChic.
I did 50,000 steps Thursday to Sunday. I just felt like going for a few long walks. I only ventured out for a short walk today as there is still ice on the ground and I was worried about slipping. I wore my black high necked jumper over a dress with my brown boots and a brown handbag I hardly ever wear. We got a little bit of snow yesterday but it melted almost straight away. I did use my rebounder for 5 minutes when I got home. I'm going to use it again for a while when my husband gets up.
I was thinking about my 45th birthday coming up in a couple of months and what I would want. I was thinking of a handbag like Chanie but I'm not sure I would get much value from it. Then I thought about a FitBit but I think I will just stick to the cheap pedometer I bought as it does the basics. I did see an article in a magazine for an at home microdermabrasion kit. It's £269 though so quite expensive. Hmm. I have a couple of months to think anyway.
I did just go for another walk to the shops to get in some more steps as the sun has melted the ice by now. My husband is off this week so we will probably binge watch a series. We haven't watched the last Star Trek Discovery yet.

Good afternoon lovely ladies
Its a winter wonderland here. Blue skies, glorious sunshine and the most gorgeous 6inch deep soft powdery snow. The trees look beautiful. Have just been out pottering in the garden, clearing the paths and the car before it freezes over, laughing and chatting with the neighbours - socially distanced of course. They are a great bunch and have been a great source of entertainment through the various lockdowns.Thankfully my cold is much better today. Feeling a bit tired and somewhat drained though so will just take it easy. I fell off the WW wagon whilst I was ill, I couldn't face proper food and just grazed but I'm not going to berate myself - it happens. Back on the straight and narrow now.Wednesday as you know it's my big birthday this year. My original plan was a cruise on the Queen Mary 2 to New York but obviously that won't be happening. I have decided that as it's in July I'm going to have a garden party - well I would have had that anyway. Covid permitting I shall hire a marquee and be inviting the world and his wife. I mentioned it to my neighbours and they are well up for it. Instead of buying myself a gift I might just treat myself to a few days away at some point, maybe a few days in London, maybe even Bruges. I could combine that with Ghent to see family and friends.
It all depends on what's happening. I might have to postpone travel and big parties till next year but it doesn't matter. It will still all be there waiting for me......
Right now a cup of coffee with a friend or lunch in my favourite restaurant or a trip to the cinema or theatre would be my idea of heaven. 😌.Hey ho, just need to be patient for a little while longer.9 -

Wednesday you have done amazingly well on your step count. The kind of bag I’m eyeing up is one I can be dressed up or down, so you may be able to find one that works for you.
With microdermabrasion home machines, I’ve read they aren’t as powerful as salon ones, so you may not get the same results.
here are a few suggestions for birthday gifts - air pods, warm coat or boots ( for your walks), art or some furniture (although maybe not a good idea if you are planning on moving), something for your garden?
helen your birthday plan sound absolutely perfect. I’m sure everyone will be looking forward to your party and it will be a great opportunity for friends and family to meet your new grandson. Please please please do a cheese and pineapple hedgehog. I’m single handedly trying to bring them back. I think I must be the only person, who wants to revive them though (I wonder why??).
Mrs porridge I know it’s not the same, but why don’t you buy a couple of tea cakes, get out your best crockery and have a Zoom call with your friend over a cuppa and tea cake?
I’m having problems with my work laptop, which means I can’t do much work while IT are fixing it. If I’m honest, I’m relieved as I’ve found the last few weeks difficult and I think I need the break. I may go out for a walk when OH gets in from work to get some fresh air abc stretch my legs.7 -
That really is an amazing step count Wednesday. You've done so well to stick to your walks throughout lockdown. It'll be good for you to have some company this week while your DH is off work. 😊
We managed a walk this morning. Only about 6000 steps but we enjoyed it. the weather was glorious and we found some parkland that we'd never been to before. I wanted to go to Asda (3 miles away) so decided it was local enough when combined with an essential journey. 😉 Good idea to get out for some air chanie. I think we all get fed up of the same 4 walls. Do you get out Mrs Porridge? I think people are much more friendly during lockdown. So many people wished us good morning today.
I called the podiatrist this morning and she had a slot free for this afternoon so I've just come back. We get on really well so it was good to have a chat while she was doing my feet. So a double bonus. 😊
I've got a birthday coming up in March and it looks as if it'll be the first family occasion where we can't get to a restaurant. I just got under the wire last year as the first lockdown came in a week or so after we'd been out for my birthday meal. The next time we went out was for our wedding anniversary in August! We went to the same restaurant and it was a bit deja vu except that I was wearing a strappy dress and sandals rather than the boots I'd worn the previous time. 🤣 I'll think of something I might fancy as a birthday gift to myself. No idea at the moment. 🤔
Glad to hear your cold is getting better LL. The snow came and went quickly yesterday morning here. Good luck with getting back to WW this week. I'm glad I've managed stick to my healthy eating throughout the lockdowns. As we can still shop in supermarkets, food is something I can control. It's helped give a bit of structure and normality and I plan a few treats at weekends so it makes them different and something to look forward to.😊

What a great suggestion for a Zoom call with tea! I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

I've got a birthday in October, as most of the family have had birthdays in lockdown, just SIL and DIL managed to have them when they could do something, I was thinking of a joint celebration. It would have to be somewhere central as we are pretty spread out so I'm thinking 100 miles away. Can't decide if I want to do it at an Indian restaurant, all the family love Indian food, or I found a pub that does a BBQ or hog roast, it has a lovely garden for the children so with my GC and my siblings GC that would work. It would probably cost the best part of £1k but I reckon it is worth it. I was thinking I'd pay for venue and food and maybe a few bottles of wine/beer/coke and people then pay for their drinks. Do you think that sounds OK? I hope we can do it.5

Hi everyone. I’ve been reading your posts for a few weeks and thought I would join in after reading the birthday comments. It was my 70th on Boxing Day. Not the celebration I would have wanted as we went into lockdown again. My family and friends did their best digitally but it’s not the same, is it? This weekend it’s my husband and my Golden Wedding anniversary. Our plan was to spend it in the sunshine but obviously that’s not happening. Thinking back I can’t believe how young we were. We had even bought our own house before we were married. How times have changed!
We are very lucky, enjoying good health, financial security and wonderful children and grandchildren. I very much miss social activity and the chance to get glammed up. I love clothes and have so much gorgeous stuff I haven’t been able to wear as there’s nowhere to go.
So, I hope our milestone anniversary can be celebrated later in the year.6
