Gorgeous ring @maman I have a string of pearls that were my mum's that I had restrung after she died in 2005. She'd had them since she was 21 in 1951 so it was well overdue!
I also have some freshwater pearls given to me when I was 40, with a bracelet and earrings to match. Also on my 40th, my mum gave me a vintage gold bracelet that was her sister's (my godmother) who died in 1997. I wear that all the time along with the pearl bracelet, a fine golden chain bracelet (bought when I became legally single again) and usually the diamond bracelet I bought with some of my share of mum's estate.
However I lost my diamond bracelet in December, probably at my local tip, and I'm waiting for the insurance replacement to be made for me. Due to the amount I paid & it being second hand when I bought it back in 2005, the value was quite a surprise (the insurance lady suggested i sit down before she told me!) and it's going to be different to previous, I can't wait to see it.

I've had a bit of a dig around this morning and found several more rings that I'd forgotten about. Today's is a gold band with a sort of braided front. It could do with a clean so I'll wash it i soapy water later.
I'm very lazy with jewellery. I wear 10 gold bangles every day, never take them off. I wear my grandmother's thick gold wedding band and a basic watch. Most days that's been it for the past year except for rare occasions when we've been out and I've worn my Pandora style (actually Troll beads) bracelet, my engagement ring and maybe a dress ring and a fashion watch. I've really enjoyed wearing different rings on my right hand in the past few days so I'll keep it up. 😊
We woke up to snow this morning but it's disappearing fast. It was pretty to look at though. Tomorrow promises to be sunny so probably try for a walk then. 🤔4 -
I never wear jewellery, don't know why, I suppose when I was young we didn't have money for it. I was bought a lovely pearl pendant on a gold chain when I retired, I had to laugh as I couldn't work out if they bought it for me as they felt sorry for me as I had no jewellery or they'd just never noticed I don't wear jewellery. My mother always wore a brooch on her coat but didn't wear any other jewellery except her wedding and engagement rings. I don't even wear my engagement ring, my DD was horrified when I was admiring hers and mentioned that I wasn't sure where mine was or when I'd last worn it, probably over 20 years ago. That was 3 years ago and I haven't got round to looking for it yet. I suppose it is odd that I love looking in jewellery shops, I guess a psychiatrist could work that one out.
I have a lovely bracelet my gran gave me when I was getting married, she was too ill to attend. I'd never wear it now as I'd be heart broken if I lost it but I did wear it at my wedding.
Sometimes I wonder where my money has gone considering I've never smoked a cigarette, never drunk alcohol, never spent money on jewellery and not much on clothes. I think I should be a millionaire, probably would be if I hadn't had kids.
We had heavy snow in the night, unusual down here as it is usually just on the moor and not this close to the sea. DH woke me up at 3.30 am to tell me, I was thrilled!5 -

Hi shabbychic 12.Welcome to the thread.....and yes you are so right. Live for now, with no regrets. Love it.Still feeling pretty grim so just having an easy day, although I did manage to rejig my wardrobes again........Made space for an additional hanging rail for my recent acquisitions. I dont like things all crammed in.Thick blanket of snow here today and still falling. Looks very pretty but I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere.....travel will be a nightmare.Pixie...you are right, having children is an expensive hobby. 😂. But I wouldn't have it any other way. I think my two are priceless beyond jewels. 🥰🥰.......even if they have cost me a small fortune, not to mention my time, energy and at times my sanity. 😂🤣.Having them was the second best decision I ever made .......the first was marrying their father. ❤️4

Yes they are expensive, 4kids, their 4 partners, half a dozen GC. An expensive hobby for sure.5

pixie most childless people I know spend their money on other things, like holidays or expensive housing, so they are just as poor as I am 😂.
We enjoyed our 2 inches of snow today. When I woke up this morning, there was no sign of snow, but it started a while later. We went out for a walk and took the children to the woods, as it has a large open grass area. There were lots of people out, but everyone had enough space so we were no where near anyone else. I told OH that it was lovely seeing everyone enjoying themselves and was a much needed pick me up. What’s even better is that the snow has pretty much gone, so at least people won’t have to struggle to get around tomorrow.4 -
I know what you mean chanie. My friend (in her 50s) sent me a photo of her and her husband building a snowman! Simple pleasures. 😊5
