I agree. I'm very selective on how I use the MK advice. I definitely don't get everything out and I'm not into the lovey stuff either. What I find most useful is finding homes for the various categories and then putting things away in them. The very act of a regular sort through is useful too as we forget what we have.
And don't get me on gobby presenters... 🤣🤣🤣7 -
I started watching The Home Edit because it was mentioned on here. I saw them do Reese Witherspoon and Rachel Zoe (stylist) and it felt a little bit like # rich person problems with their huge walk-in wardrobes full of expensive clothes (jealous, moi?). I didn’t mind MK because she was working with normal people, so it was more realistic. It did, inspire me to clear out a space on a bookcase to store our laptops. We have 3 of them, all being used constantly for homeschooling and work we needed somewhere to store them and the cables.

Hi fab ladies,
I have been lurking on your thread since the new year and I love it! It’s great to read your chatter about fabbing and other matters. I am getting over COVID and am in desperate need of fabbing after 3 weeks of feeling poorly and living in PJ’s. You inspired me to paint my nails today - a deep purple with a bit of sparkle, so much better.Thank you for your lovely cheerful thread xx
PS- I to switched off the home edit after 1 episode due to the screechy presenters! 😂8 -
I have been doing a lot of decluttering in the kitchen- cup and bowls broken yesterday and today. It is really inconvenient because where will I get crockery in lockdown. I know that the few i have will have to last.
I guess it is hard to empathize with the struggles of the multimillionaires and their staff. I find I prefer just digging into my own stuff. I am dreadfully unmotivated at the minute, motivation waxes and wanes but hopefully, tomorrow will be better. I donated so much in the last few years that I am hesitant on purchasing too much now.
I have decided to make 5 daily things to be happy and healthy
1. continue to eat healthy foods mainly 85% focused on plants
2. Park as far away as possible- I have to get in the steps as I will regret it later if I don't and 3-4 times a week activity.
3. Morning routine- shower with a glorious smelling gel, SPF, makeup, and wear the best dress that suits me.
4. Engage with the community and plant a few roots,
5. Be brave try new things and grab opportunities9 -
SFT I love your 5 daily things to be happy and healthy. They cover a wide range of areas and are all achievable. I think all of our motivation is up and down and thats the way it should be, as it helps us to appreciate the good.

Just been for a walk to pharmacy to collect DHs meds. It was windy but not cold, I look a bit blown about but feel good. I really need to do more exercise, since New Year and lockdown I've hardly been out of the house, being a wimp about cold, rain and wind but if it is going to be a bit milder I am going to try and get out every day, if I can DH out we will go to the beach as he can do little walks from bench to bench and I can do a long walk and meet up with him so good for both of us.
I don't buy many clothes, I'm not that into clothes but I have ordered 3 tops from a sale online, 2 are bright colours and one is black but with bright splashes of colour all over it. I decided 3 in 3 out so I have put 3 old tops to oneside and they will go when the new ones arrive.
I had a boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast, don't have it often but it was a nice change. GS just had cereal before online school started, he's itching to finish as shopping just delivered and he will be wanting to see what treats I've got him. I've hidden some as he would just wolf the lot if he got the chance. We have a game of hunt the treat to see if gran can find good places. It is amazing what is amusing in lockdown.
Hope everyone is having a nice day. Anyone had the vaccine yet? DH is in the new over 70 batch so hoping we might hear soon.8 -
I've never seen The Home Edit.
That is a good list Saving.
Hi Lashie - your nail colour sounds nice!
I'm reading a new book at the moment about health and ageing. It was written by a vegan couple I watched on YT the other day. They are in their 70s or 80s. One of them suffered from at least one chronic condition, in fact they both did, I think, but they have got themselves into very good health. "101 ways to be young at any age".
They were saying it is good to start each day with a glass of warm water with lemon. The book about women and dementia I read by the doctor said the same thing about drinking warm water in the morning, there is a scientific reason, which I can't remember now! I always used to do that so I went out for my walk and bought fresh lemons to start tomorrow. It's much milder here so I only wore my trench coat over my dress.6 -
Well done for posting lashie. Good to have you along. 😊
I liked your list too sft. I have my list of all the beauty procedures I follow daily, weekly and occasionally. That helps me keep on track. I also do a weekly meal plan and shop to make sure I stick to the healthy eating. I'd like to add daily exercise too but I'm not so good with that. We have got back to more regular walking but I need to add some indoor exercise for bad weather days. Other things like reading and meeting up with people are a bit more hit and miss, partly becasue of Covid but also because of varying motivation.
I hope the clothes you ordered are keepers pixie. I'm so pleased I decided to buy the 'one mile' clothes last year as they've been a godsend during lockdowns. I have lots of lovely clothes but it's really only the leisure type stuff that's appropriate most days. Today I've put on one of the new thermal tops from Sainsbury's (grey😉). It's a size larger than I'd normally wear but worth it as it's lovely and long especially in the sleeves and I have long arnms so pleased with that.
I have a large (about 300mls) glass of squash every morning Wednesday. It's cold but helps to get me properly hydrated. Funnily enough, I had hot lemon last night. I just use a squirt of lemon juice from a bottle as it's easier than buying fresh lemons.
I did get as far as Tesco's today (4 miles so I think it counts as local😉). I had a growing list of things that I like to buy from there so took a special trip to stock up and it had the benefit of getting me out of the house for a change of scene. It's wet and blowy here so no walk today. I'll settle down with my book shortly. It's just some chick lit but it's relaxing. 😊8 -
I liked this. 😁
