Glad you're feeling stronger. I never lost my sense of smell but I'm still struggling with the breathlessness and chest pain. I hope it clears up much quicker for you.Are the girls sorting through their things as they bring it down? Hopefully moving it all around will help them condense. Getting close to the rooms now! They haven't been doing too much sorting as most of that was done a little while ago when we started by removing the wardrobe. I think when it goes back into their rooms and into their new storage, any further clearing and decluttering will be done. I am also trying to encourage DD1 to keep revising rather than getting distracted by this, prom or decorating. This is hard work in its self. We went to a local town today to look at bed covers and lighting, and to look for shoes for prom. I think we have it sorted now, well at least some of it. We went in at 9 and only got home at 3 and I am now not moving from the sofa until dinner time as exhausted. But it was enjoyable to look and plan and buy a few bits.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well the carpet is up and i am nervous. I have had the tape measure out and the more I look at things the less it makes sense and fits. I know on paper it works so hoping its just my nerves. The only thing left in the room is the curtains and curtain poles plus the 2 mattresses.
Half term has been and gone so now working until 8th April so 6 weeks to go until our next break. I'm still having to rest in between activities as get tired easily, but feeling better each day. Time for showers and getting bags ready for tomorrow.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Not hard to see why that would be distracting! So exciting.
Have you got the paint and everything all picked out? XxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

Well DD1 now wants navy and white colour scheme, while DD2 wanted rainbow theme but has since changed her mind and wants pale / blush pink and gold! Not bought any paint as yet. Carpets will match the landing and be darker grey with flecks in to hide the dirt. The only thing we did buy were light fittings and cushions on Saturday, but did get some idea on what else we need. Need to buy light bulbs for DD2's light ready for them to install (hoping they will do that rather than just put in cable for pendant light.

Well it is Friday and I am done for the week. The builder postponed at the last minute and said he will be here this monday instead. Were we surprised....not really. Hoping he turns up next week as I am already fed up with everything in the middle of the living room.

Been reading a lot of threads about the rising costs of everything. One thing I can do it plant some food for the summer. For the past few years we haven't really grown anything as we were still thinking about moving. Now we need to stay put we can work on the garden. I looked at the strawberry patch earlier and it looks like a few of the plants are still ok from last year. A few others look like they need replacing. I saw the museum selling some plants during the week so I may take a quick trip there tomorrow. Their plants are always good and fertilised nicely. I am hoping my raspberry cane will be ok - need to find the best place for it this year and read up how to look after it. I will also be on the look out for the museum tomato plants when it's time. I will need to sew some lettuce and may have a go at potatoes again. I need to think about our fence between us and our neighbour. He does my gardening and cut back one of the trees quite ferociously the other year and there is a nice clear gap that he can watch us through. I'm not keen on that so maybe need to plant something else. We have a lot of rose bushes in pots that are not my cup of tea (XH planted them because he was trying to impress his nan). I could use the pots for flowers or food that is much more me but need to find somewhere to donate roses to as seems a waste just to get rid of them. I might see if my dad wants them. It would be nice if I could get my fence and gates in place by the summer so we can relax in the garden or leaving back door open without having people wandering in. I'm determined to be happy in my home and get it just the way we like it.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

OK so the builder arrived today just after I had left for work. My best friend was house sitting for me. Before I even got to work the builder called to say we would need to change plans and that he would just put up 1 wall and no doors, so that DD1 would need to just walk through DD2;s bedroom to get to hers. I scurried back home and told him where walls needed to go to fit in doors to both rooms otherwise there was really no point. His reply was 'It would be easier my way'. I left after giving instructions based on the original plan. On getting back home just after lunch he said he was done and now we needed to wait for the electrician, who he will be seeing on Friday as they are busy doing a bathroom currently. No sign of the plumber as yet to move and install the second radiator. I feel he had no idea what he was doing this morning and had completely forgotten about the job that he had quoted for. Both doors are not as quoted. I just hope we are not left waiting as me and both DD's are sharing a room and I have to climb over DD1's mattress each time to get in and out of bed - to be fair I may move her back into their room and pin a blanket up at the window. Not used to dealing with builders and not liking it much.
On a plus we now have the sizes of the rooms and so I have booked the carpet man to come and measure up and get ready for when it is time. I can also now order furniture once I have rejigged thingsMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Oh no what a pain! I am so sorry. Do the doors not match everything else? What has he done today? Put up the timber frame and put the door frames in? I am so sorry he isn't being lovely. You'd think they would just do as we ask and want to make it as nice as possible. If they were nicer they would never stop getting work. You might as well crack on ordering the carpet if it will take a while to fit you in. Got my fingers crossed that the sparky will be much nicer.I love roses in pots lol and really don't anticipate being able to look after my own fruit and veg. I am proud of you reclaiming every square inch for yourself and your goals out of what you want from the house xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

Thank you Kitten, he was here for 5 hours and only put up the timber stud wall. Nothing else, no door frames - only the gaps ready for them. My friend said there was a lot of talking / arguing with his partner / wife or speaking to other people. She made sure to ask him if he needed tea / coffee just to show him she was checking up on him. It was a lot of time to do not a lot. Glad we are not paying per hour as such - its a lump sum for labour. I did wonder if he was trying to do it cheaply as material costs have gone up since he quoted for the job. The doors haven't been purchased as yet by the impression I got. DD1's room was supposed to be a pocket door to maximise the space, and that is what was quoted. It will now be a normal door.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
