I thought she had but just now she said her bday really wasn't that great. I said I had tried to make it special and she agreed I had tried, but guess it wasn't enough
Feel for her as if I've let her down. Still keep saying stupid XH

Don't feel bad about it. I'm sure if she'd had a decent day with your XH she'd have felt completely different. Perhaps ask her if there's something she'd like to do one weekend in the future.

Aww you’ve done your best and at least you’ve made an effort. I’m sure she does appreciate it really.Birthdays do get more 💩 as you get older don’t they. The only ones to look forward to once your an adult is the big ones 21, 30, 40 etc.. and that’s still only if there’s someone or yourself wanting to make a fuss of them! 😂Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Her birthday wasn't that great because of the XH you are a wonderful Mom and made a lovely spread for tea, her disappointment was in thinking he had for once put her first! you definitely didn't let her down x1

I know it wasn't really because of me and normally he never really got involved so I could make sure her day was her day. Now he has them for their bdays, it is kind of taken out of my hands. Thank goodness Christmas is 'mine' and he doesn't get involved. It's annoying as he never really was that bothered about spending time with them (at any time), but now almost does it to prove he is a 'good dad' to the onlookers. I'm sure if he wasn't trying to prove a point he would have given up already.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Good afternoon all, what a grey and miserable day it has been. I am nervously waiting on a phone call to go and collect DD1 as she has gone for a training day at the posh Italian restaurant in town. I'm guessing it's too early as yet to get the call to be collected as she only went in at 12, but we have no idea what time she will be coming out. She got the call on Monday asking if she was still looking for a job - a few weeks prior to this she had taken CV's round to all of the little cafes etc asking if they had any jobs. She was quite disappointed that no one had gotten in touch, but i said maybe when she is actually 16 they might call, and sure enough they were waiting until then. Anyway she was told to get a black shirt and turn up at 12 for training. No idea about training for what but it will hopefully be a nice local little job for her to grow in confidence. She had jelly legs all morning apparently lol.
It was also payday this week and I was hoping to get a better idea of my monthly pay (as it should be 12 equal payments unlike previous jobs). Unfortunately the tax code they sent my employers was wrong so they have taken an extra £287 off my pay. Spoken to tax people and they are amending tax code, so next month i will be refunded (good job I have savings for backup). I am hoping to know my real monthly pay soon so I can plan. I have transferred all of my money into my savings pots and now have money ready for Xmas saved. Need to get a move on in getting bits for that.
Architect came round earlier to collect cladding samples and to confirm plans. He is going to draw up the real plans and submit them by the end of the week, so another chunk of money will go out. The building regulations for the room split has also been paid for this week. Now just waiting on a start date from the builder. Still hoping for October at some point, and hoping we have enough notice to clear the room properly rather than chucking things into a box. Need to pull up carpet too so it can be stored ready to be relocated into my room, when they come to lay new carpets in all 3 kids bedrooms. Get this feeling it will be a friday call saying by the way we are starting work next monday lol. It will then be a mad rush to clear and store everything. My dad has recently cleared his large workshop so that might be where it all goes and then will returned 2 weeks late once all carpets and paining has been done, and wardrobes put in. Might need to speak to him nicely.
OK now off to look online for xmas ideas, while snuggling up under blanket - not putting heating on quite yet

Still waiting for the call to collect DD1. She is going to be exhausted and very hungry. She did have a break at 4 and had a quick snack and drink. She seemed to be getting on ok and will be doing all parts of working in a restaurant so she says. She will have earnt a nice little amount today that's for sure even if just minimum wage. She said it was quiet over lunch but there were a lot of tables booked for this evening, .....Just collected her and she is happy but tired and £40 better off and they want her back next week which is great.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Oh brilliant she must have worked so hard. That sounds like a nice job with plenty of variety and will set her up with lots of new skills. Very well done to her - you must be so proud x1

Thank you. She is such a quiet nervous girl, so the fact she went round town asking for a job was amazing, and seeing her walking through the doors at lunchtime took a lot of courage. She should be very proud of herself and i am certainly am proud of her. Plenty for her to do and learn, including several different languages as only the other slightly older girl speaks english as her native language. I think she will soon get into the swing of things and become a great part of the teamMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
