Well today is the first day that I feel like Christmas is over, so I have started to remove the Christmas decorations - to be honest I have only removed the advent calendars from the door so far, but will slowly start taking other bits down today. The remainder of the Christmas dinner will also need to go as I think it has got to the point of no longer being safe to eat. Most of it has gone so not wasting much but next year I need to remember to put some in the freezer straight away. We still have a box full of cheese to use up but that will last. We also have loads of fresh vegetables to eat up, so will work those into the meal plan over the next week or so. I don't think we will need much from the shops at all this week.
I had planned on a trip to town to get DD2's glasses mended but think we will postpone until tomorrow as then the library will also be open so we can sort 2 jobs out rather than just the 1. Glasses will be ok for another day - A pillow fight and pillow to the face has squished the nose pads so now glasses are falling down nose. I have tried to mend but am wary that if I try to do too much they might just snap off. Am going to let the lady do that instead of me. DD2 has her spare set from before should they become too annoying for her.
Today will be spent sorting out the house, the washing, the homework, the food / freezer / meal plan, the budget for next year. After yesterdays day of not moving far from the sofa I feel a bit more refreshed and ready to tackle some things rather than just thinking about it. Not sure how much will get done as I am still on a go slow but will give it a go

Well we walked into town as it was a cold but bright morning, and I knew we were not needing to carry anything heavy home. DD2s glasses mended so they stay on her nose, library book renewed in person as it has taken so long to read. Extra recycling bag purchased at the library too so all recycling can go tomorrow.
Prior to that 2 loads of washing were done and now home another is in the wash - DD1 seems to store it up, start to wash it and then leaves it. And because I do not need to be walking through her piles of washing I end up taking over while she was still in bed. Not sure if it is her main plan or just a coincidence as she has only really just started doing it herself. Anyway other peoples clothes need washing too so I just get on with it.
Well some things were done yesterday but it was also quite a relaxed day.debtfreewannabe321 said:I've also got similar goals for housework in mind but also said, if it doesn't get done, well it will still be there tomorrow 🫢🤣.

Right the tumble dryer seems to have come to a stop so must be time to swap clothes over.

I always found it cheaper (and easier) just to wash by kids clothes when I did ours so as long as they put it in the wash bin it got done but I didn't ever pick anything up off the floor for them so if they wanted it washed they knew what to do! They didn't even have to leave their rooms with the washing as they had a wash bin each in their bedrooms!
Got home from holiday last night and have done 2 loads and hung out on the line. Was all nearly dry so finished off in the tumble dryer. Now all folded and put away. Still plenty more to do tomorrow and Thursday!

She keeps it all in a washing bin but had then decided to do it all herself so had bought it to the kitchen and sorted into piles. One load went in and the other 2 loads remained in the middle of the kitchen floor until I finished them. No more from the rest of the house done, so will try again tomorrow.
Went out looking for compost as DD1 is taking up growing things in, but most of the garden centres and other shops I could think of either didn't have it or was shut. We will try again another day.
Came home and put the heating on for a little while to warm up. Been on the phone to mum quite a lot today as her partner has gone down hill very quickly. Right time for bed as I think tomorrow might be a long day, even if I am not staying up late.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
Wishing you all a happy healthy new year. I am hoping for a calm one with nothing to dramatic happening (other than a house move that goes smoothly hopefully). Aims are to be more organised which will have a knock on effect to all of the areas of my life.
While I do not feel like I have achieved that much today the house is reasonably tidy, we have had a nutritious meal with food already in the house, it is payday and money pots have been sorted ready and the 2026 spreadsheet has been looked over to check that it is ready, and all 3 children seem to be happy.

Good morning. No snow for us apart from some very tiny flakes yesterday that lasted 5 min but it really is cold here and I have treated us to a few bursts of heating over the past few days.
I went to the tip this morning (not sure why I booked it so early on my last day off) and it was -3 outside and it felt it. DD2 still has my gloves somewhere from Christmas eve when she was playing outside supermarket with the band, so my hands hurt from the cold. Once home I layered up a little more and put the heating on. DD1 has called in sick as she really is suffering with her cold / lurgy of some kind. We can now all stay home for the rest of the day.
Back to work tomorrow and on Tuesday I have my event that I have been planning. I have done really well to not check emails and to block work things out this holiday. I even declined a call from work person who would have talked about work. Catch up can happen tomorrow rather than in middle of holidays. Felt cruel but it was needed.
Mum has been on the phone a lot as I seem to be the one she calls when needing to offload about her partners illness, which I don't mind and I am helping her with practical things and admin tasks rather than emotional bits, as it is my way of coping. She is back to the hospital to see him tonight, only having just left. She will need a month of doing not a lot by the end of this.
Money wise I have only spent a small amount on food. Had a voucher from DD2's school that went towards it as well which helped. No other money has been spent and money pots were shuffled once the bills had gone out at the beginning of the year. That is a little lie as I did by train tickets and taxi to the Musical DD2 and I went to yesterday, but that was already planned for and came from the birthday money pot. We did save by walking back to station after realising it wasn't actually that far and used my rail card so got a big discount on the train tickets.
Today needs to be spent packing school bags, checking for any missed work not done, finding uniform ready for the morning and then making sure there is something nice to come home to in the slow cooker tomorrow night.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 15, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/192 -
Back up and running at school and yesterday was the day I held my big event (big maybe a little exaggeration) but it was big for our school and the first of its kind. While others have also been given the credit this afternoon I have pretty much pulled it off myself and did also get a lot of praise. I feel at a bit of a loss now as this has been a big thing that I have been working on for the past half term. Even the snow didn't stop people.
On not so good news I have just seen that the house we have been wishing for has sold which I am very sad about. There are no other houses in my price range that would work for us. The man who we think will buy our one is home in about 2 weeks time so we need another option as he will be hoping for a quick sale as is now a cash buyer with no where to live.
DD2 and DS went back to their schools yesterday and both required resting in their rooms most of the evening as they were exhausted. DD1 is still full of cold but no uni for her until the 19th. Happy to be snowed in now event is over and we have no where we really need to go, although it looks like the rain has washed most of it away now.

That's a shame about the house but hopefully another will come up in the right timeframe. If nothing comes up then you'll have to take yours off the market - you're not committed to selling to the man who has kept you waiting for a long time. Things change over time and he should have realised that this might happen.
I do hope you can find somewhere else that you could work with. Sending another suitable house vibes your way.1
