Just an idea. I posted my house on marketplace as I'd seen other people do it. I used estate agent pics and put the link to their listing and it generated a lot of views quickly.

Thank you DFW I will give it a go as no harm in trying. Booked a trip to the tip for later in the week to get rid of some more bits in the garage. Hoping to make better use of it and it will allow us to move things into it rather than having things cluttering up the house. Really struggling to find any other decent houses within my price range that has everything we have already / need from a house, or is cheap enough that we could make it into our dream house.
Just collected DD2 from band, so its shower and bed. Back to sorting things out in the morningMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Had a day pottering around and clearing up here and there. Managed to get the washing all done and dry on the line. Cut the grass again out the back but this time shorter. Hopefully it will be lovely again by the open day.
DD2 has been at the library all day doing a craft activity and has come home happy and well fed. We really do appreciate these activities that are put on for the children. I know she would not have attended if they required money as it is just not there, especially if it had been all 3 of the kids. Thankfully it is only really DD2 now that needs entertaining on the odd day.
Managed to collect some bread rolls and salad last night from olio so this has postponed the need to shop for another day. Having a pasta bake with some salad on the side for dinner this evening. I am still working on my meal plan / shopping list and working out how to stay within my budget.
XH has paid his weekly sum which is good and tomorrow is payday so I will be able to move amounts around a little. I also came across another voucher for pizza hut today when clearing up. I have decided that next time we will get an order to go as not enough to all eat at the buffet but a takeaway pizza will always be welcome.
I need to work on my surveys and competitions more while I am off, as I have no where near the amount of vouchers ready for bdays and christmas that is now getting closer. DS will also be 18 this year so I need to get going on his photo book.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

What a grey miserable day. Woke early to let the cats out but then fell asleep on the sofa until 10. Lacking in energy today so wont push myself as will need my energy for tomorrow. Will continue clearing bits around the house and in garage.
I need to go to the shops for food today with my list at some point before dinner.
Payday so will move money around shortly while I am doing some admin bits.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

OK the local fete is over so another event crossed off the list. We came away with prizes including a 1st for flapjacks, 2nd in a photo comp and 2nd in the jam section. DD2 also came away with a 1st and 3rd. Neither produces a huge prize in money but we were left with a profit of £3.75 after entry fees had been taken out. Not counting the ingredients either. Band played throughout the day but glad that is one task done.
Tomorrow we are onto cleaning the house ready for the weekend open house. Deep cleaning needs to happen and asap. DD1 thinks she may have someone interested in the table and chairs in the garage. Hopefully £50 into the house pot and less bits in the garage soon.
Does anyone have any experience of purple bricks. Someone in real life mentioned them to me for a cheaper option. I will try to call them when they are open to ask some questions as I would like to know how much control I would have - looks like quite a lot compared to normal agents but I may be wrong.
Ok time to get the cats in and then bed

The house I had in Yorkshire with my ex sold via purple bricks about 7 years ago. I can't say much with regards to customer satisfaction because ex sorted it all, but it was only on a month or so before it sold 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Thank you Jessy, I am so torn as I would like to make the right decision this time round. Been making a path through the garage by organising some of the clutter. DD1 has sold her desk chair of FB market place and I am delivering it tomorrow for petrol money. We have some interest on the kitchen table and chairs too, but just need someone to say yes. Also got rid of a few things that were not worth selling through olio today. Slowly clearing and organising.
Found the samples of paint that I bought. All versions of off white / cream. Have done a little patch test behind some furniture just in case the painting didn't happen. I think it needs to be done, and will let DD2 have the final say as she is the one most opposed to any kind of change (always has been since being young). Hoping if she has a say it will go a little smoother. To be honest they are so similar that it really doesn't matter which one it is.
The heavens have just opened and there are waves of rain pouring down, it doesn't feel like the summer holidays should. But it has been dry up until now so cant really complain too much, plus I am inside now and settling in for the night. Waiting for DD1 to get home before having my dinner as we are sharing a curry tonight. Even bought a few extra bits to go with it. I am really looking forward to it.

OK the paint has been chosen so now we have the job of painting - I hate painting as I have no strength in my arms, but it needs doing. Hoping to get DS involved as he was good with painting last time and time is not on our side.
I will collect the paint at the same time as I deliver the desk chair. Before I do that I can be taping up the edges ready and moving things to the middle of the room / out into another room. Money will come from the house maintenance pot so no extra costs for the main account.
Also need to be putting a couple of loads of washing on today as I don't want a washing mountain on the day. Tomorrow DD2 has roller skating so I will get to sit and rest then.

I used PB for not the last house sale but the one before that. I paid about a grand and they took pics and did the write up. However my house was very well priced to sell and it was a starter home price so we had that on our side because when people are just starting out they aren't quite as fussy (way less than 200k for a three bed). We had about 10 viewings lined up, four ended up viewing and we had people bidding on the house like an auction (this was madness of covid days though tbf). We achieved the price we wanted from cash buyer within a week of putting it up....but the market has dropped since then and your house isn't a starter home. I think PB have their place is what I think I am trying to say. I didn't use them last time. I went with an EA who would put the listing to the top of RM every month for a week for 6 months....and they pushed it aggressively as their 'featured property' when it was new (they did that for all new homes on their site) I would look around and find someone who will sell it for you and actually contact people on their lists looking etc. Can you look at the bigger towns around you and sell through one of their EA rather than locally? We looked at a local one and decided against them and went with a big local chain through the city office even though we were 15 miles out. They had a lot of foot fall past their office and they also had a smaller office in our market town at the time... they actively looked for buyers.
Good luck with the painting by the way, I have all this to come yet when the extension is finished!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Thank you DFW, I am still looking at all of the agents that pop up on searches so no decision made as yet, and I feel we will be off the market for a week or 2 before going back on. More painting etc will be completed to make it super ready.
Living room has been completed so now we just need to deep clean everywhere and stage for Saturday. We have put a few more bits on FB market place in the hope of making a few pennies at the same time as decluttering - nothing big but a few extra pennies will help.
Nothing planned for today other than cleaning. DD1 not home from BF house yet so I expect she will have some ideas. She had some bad news yesterday from work. After agreeing that she could move to a 2 day a week contract to go along side her uni course they have now gone back on their word and say the only option she has is to resign as her shifts will not work with uni. It was going to mean she would not have needed a maintenance loan as work would cover things. So she is now looking around for part time work. We had things all sorted for about 3 weeks before things went wrong again.
Thinking about it I do need to do a food shop so that will probably happen this morning so we have bread for lunch. Anyway I best get moving
