Well the car is being purchased and I will collect it on Monday after work. The people that I searched for price for the old car rang up and asked if it was still for sale. They have asked for more photos and service history etc in a bid to get a little more. I told them the scrap value and said I wanted more so they will call me back this afternoon with a better price hopefully. It wont last forever, but its too good to scrap.
I'm out for a works meal this evening which will be lovely, and only have a half day at work. This week has been so busy, I am really ready to have some time at home doing not a lot. This afternoon when I get home I need to sort the food shop, tidy downstairs and find something to wear tonight. Next week is just as busy and then mum arrives the wed after that. No idea when I will tidy before they get here.
Right I must get ready to leave in a few minutes. Enjoy the sunshineMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well they have come back and offered £200 which is under the original price as well as the scrap value of £300. I did however pop into the local dodgy car sales place on the way home and they will give me £500 for it, so that is where it will go on Monday. I am sure it will be up for quite a bit more but it will be off my hands and my insurance.
Just taken parcel for daughter to corner shop. How easy is that - sold some of DS's shoes on vinted and had to post by today. Been putting it off so I said I would do it - easy peasy done. Will opt for that way to post things if I can from now on.
Got some clothes to send back so need to get them packaged up. Ordered lots knowing I would only keep a few bit - sure enough 2 things kept the rest are going back. Bras also going back to m&s and some bits going back to Primark on Saturday. Good job I have a list or I would forget.
Right I had better go and find something to wear tonight.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

We have been into town today with DS with the aim of finding him some shoes and clothes. He avoids shops and shopping so hated the whole process. He was disappointed too as the shoes he picked didn't come in his huge size 13 feet. He ended up coming home empty handed and unhappy having being dragged around all of the other shops.
I took back several bags of clothes that were no good from previous shopping trips. That will put some money back in the bank. Cash flow is a little messed up currently but hopefully it will sort itself out when the money gets back into the account. Now the savings have been used I really do need to get back into properly budgeting. I find not having the money always helps tighten the spending. When I say I have no money, its more like no safety net, rather than no money at all. The holiday, clothes , personal spends pots etc all have money in them.
I have written my shopping list and meal plan ready to go shopping in the morning. I will also be heading to the local nursery to buy some summer flowers ready for mum to arrive. About to go and see if I can see the northern lights as DD1 got some fabulous photos last night

Been to two supermarkets - 1 to return clothes and the other where I had a voucher to use on food from the easter holidays, which seems ages ago now. We also went to the plant nursery and bought some nice looking flowers. I went to the one in a village I used to live in and it was so much better than the town one. Will go there from now on.
So little list:
Plant flowers into their pots
Washing before bbqs start up later
Clear the rest of the shopping away
Do an amazon shop for my uncle - he wont order things online so pays me (via a cheque) and I risk all my details being stollen!
Empty car ready for selling tomorrow
Figure out which meal we will be eating tonight. Only thing I know is that it is ice cream for pudding.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well my new car is on the drive way and the old car is sold to the local salesman down the road. He gave me £500 and it is already up for sale at £1749. I don't mind though as it has saved me a lot of time and hassle plus I got more than the part exchange and scrap value. I am concentrating hard on the driving the new car at the moment as it is not a manual, and DD2 said I should put P plates on it until I am used to it. Got to collect DD2 from club shortly so will get to figure out the lights and the windscreen wipers by the looks of the sky.
So the savings are now almost non existent, but there is money coming in and put aside for the remaining balance on the bathroom in July. I also have my normal pots building for the holiday, clothes, birthdays etc so not completely wiped out. Time to be even more careful of the money. I have requested a chunk of money that was sitting in the gas account so I feel less anxious like the old days of having no money at all.
All of yesterdays jobs were completed, but the house is a tip. DS is leaving revision notes everywhere once he no longer needs them. He plans to have a bonfire at my Dad's house once everything is over. I will keep the books ready for DD2 although some I know that she wont need as very very unlikely to take those subjects. Plus as she is at the other school, they may not be the correct exam boards. Need to find him a box to put them in so they are not all loose everywhere.
Going to go and play with my spreadsheets and plan the budgetsMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

How tall is your son with size 13 feet 😱 I thought my DP was hard to buy for with size 12!
Well done on getting a half decent price on the car. Garages always overinflate their prices when they sell on again. I had it with an old car I sold. It was ready for scrap in my opinion but this garage took it off my hands and did the work for free I guess and I saw it driving around my old town for years after. I was glad it had been saved from scrap and lived to see another day even if it wasn't me cashing in on it.

Hi DFW, he must be 6 foot by now, but if not it cant be much shorter lol. He towers above the rest of us in the house now. He has very wide feet too, so when he tried the 12's on they felt too small because they were too tight as well as his toes almost being at the end. Either way we will be looking at the size 13 range, which is much harder to find. Shoe zone do size 13 but not a huge choice, and nothing he really likes. It is going to be expensive.
Exams are going well DD1 doesn't have many just because of the subjects she chose for A Level. Art is done and the first biology. Nothing until next Monday now. DS has had a few this week and another today, 2 tomorrow and another Friday. He is certainly on a countdown.
The builders out the back have been here this week. 6 vans parked down our road which pretty much blocks it and doesn't allow us to get to our house. I asked them to park elsewhere as the plans say there is a second space for them, and they can not block us. I am sure they wont listen, I'm just the moaning woman who lives at the end.
The car is going well and I am slowly getting the hang of driving it. Money is doing ok too. Several DD's have gone out today but still money in the account. Not had the refund for the Gas yet but it should be here by tomorrow. Will feel happier once it arrives.

It has been a very busy week both at school and home. I am glad we have made it to the weekend, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Another 6 exams to make sure DS is ready for, before Thursday, DD1 has a couple of exams, and my Mum and Uncle are arriving on Wednesday so the house needs to be clean. DD1 is now on study leave and bored apparently but refusing to lift a finger to help or revise.
I am hoping the sun is out tomorrow so that I can get the washing out and put away asap. It will also give me the energy to get up and get going. I have been sat down since sorting the dinner earlier because I am tired. The food shop will arrive (need to check the time). House needs to be clean and (the hard bit) stay clean before mum arrives. The children are not in the mood to help.
Today I went for a MRI scan just to check my ears and see if there is anything unusual causing my hearing loss. They don't think there will be but just checking. That was a new experience, but ok as only about 10 min inside the machine. While in the town I also collected my son's new to him bike. He can now ride to and from school as DD1 is on study leave and only going in for her exams. I do need to dig out the bike lock and see if we can guess the number. I took back some bras that didn't fit DD1 and got the money back.
The £500 refund for the gas arrived in my account today. I still have £250 left on the account after last weeks bill, and this will increase more before the winter arrives. I am still waiting for the refund from the clothes I sent back last week, but I have had an email saying it is on its way. Money is looking ok at the moment plus next week is benefit payday and the week after is work payday. I've also just redeemed a £5 gift card from the works perk system - every little helps.
Ok I am off to do something in the kitchen before heading to bedMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Still so much to do before Wednesday, so I am off to the beach with my friend. She asked to meet me as has had a hard few weeks and needs to have a chat, so I obviously said yes. The chores will wait, they will have to as she needs a friend. Just hoping we don't run into XH as it is his place him and his OH seem to visit on a regular basis.
DD1 and DS have gone to work until 4 ish and we will be home early afternoon I think, so hopefully we will still get a few bits sorted.
All refunds have now been received and I have popped them into the pots that needed to top up a little more. Savings are almost empty but its not looking too bad considering.
So a little list for once we return:
* Strim garden and dig up the big weed / tree that is taking over the front patch of grass
* Clear kitchen table
* Hoover stairs
* Sort dinner - some sort of marinaded chicken / wrap type thing with mini potatoes
* Start cleaning bathrooms - bleach going down loos before we leave
Lots to do, so best get on
