Right the working week is done but we cant rest yet as it is the last performance for DD2 this evening and I am off to watch. Tomorrow is going to be a lazy day and doubt DD2 will get out of her pjs. Sunday she has a sports tournament so again will be a full on day. That along with the usual weekend jobs that need doing, I'm sure we will be kept busy. Today is the last of the mock exams for DS and the next ones are the real thing - scaryMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Woke up early so no lazy lying in bed for me. Good job too as the postman is delivering a parcel at sometime from 8.10am onwards. I had to buy all 3 children some shoes as theirs are all falling apart. Fingers crossed they will get them to the end of the school year.
Last nights show was so good. They all did really well and were all very emotional when they finished for the last time. Some of the older ones will leave the school this year so wont be around for the next one. Am leaving DD2 in bed for a little while to get a good rest. Need to get DD1 up shortly though as she has work today.
It looks like the sun is trying to come through, so maybe get some washing out on the line. Right am off to get goingMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Home from sports tournament and both DD2 and DS did so much better than last year and DS came 2nd so got a medal. The rest of the day we are back to relaxing, well the children are. I have a roast almost ready to eat and the washing is drying.
I have just used an old pillow to stuff the sofa cushions that hurt to sit on as there is no longer any padding. The sofa needs replacing really but not quite yet. As they are broken I thought even if it doesn't work, I've lost nothing. Got the scissors and cut a hole at the back of the cushion, then put the pillow in. So far it is so much better, and I will do the other one the same. I may need to tape up the cushion but if it keeps it going for a little longer it is worth it. The next sofa will have removable cushions so I can plump them up as we go.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

This week has gone by in a flash and we have made it to the weekend. It has been a busy one, but 2 out of the 3 evening activities have now stopped until after easter, so next week should be a little calmer. Been covering for another member of staff this week so I didn't get my time off as planned yesterday. It's ok as time flew by
DD2 has another celebration breakfast next week - she has had one pretty much every term so far. I am not invited this time so no need to organise time off work. And then of course we all finish on Thursday - some half day, while the rest of us normal time. The countdown really is on now.
I need to think what we are having for dinner as plans have now changed. Got plenty in so will see what everyone fancies. Then I plan on going to bed nice and early and watching some tv in bed. Other than the usual washing and homework / revision, plus DD1 working nothing else is planned. DS will go with XH on Sunday - girls have both decided that they no longer want to see him - their choice so will support.
Early this week I renewed my insurance for the car. Current insurer wanted £40 per month when I normally pay around £19. I am going with a new insurer who would like £22. Current insurer wanted to win me back and were able to offer me a far reduced figure, but for now I am sticking with the new people. They are well known so will hopefully be ok, and of course hopefully I wont need to use their services.

Had a little lie in - not much but enough to not feel like I'm getting up for work. The sun is currently shining and according to the app it is less than 7% rain due today. The whirligig is coming out of hibernation I think. I soaked DD1's duvet cover in the green bleach last night and it is now in the machine washing away. I am hoping it is a little whiter when it goes on the line and gets a further bleaching from the sun. The water was disgusting so some dirt and grime should be gone.
Need to sort DD1's prescription out as she went to collect it and the pharmacist said she needed to speak to the Doctor. No idea why as the paperwork says the prescription is ok until July. She obviously didn't ask why either and has no clue.
We also need to look at DD1's car insurance. She has started but needs a few lessons on what to look for.

Well 3 loads of washing done and put out on the line. DD1's bed covers are looking great. The pillowcase could possibly do with another soak so a job for the next wash I do on it. But overall it is looking much much better.
Quick call to the pharmacy and the only thing DD1 needs to do is to tick the box and then hand over the prescription - no need to speak to the doctors. Will pop that in to them later on the way to lidl later.
Planning homemade pizzas for dinner so will pop the dough in the bread maker in a little while. As mentioned will need to pop to lidl as we need pepperoni and mushrooms for the pizzas. Got everything else.
My 2 raspberry bushes are arriving shortly. Hoping they will reduce the want to buy from the shops this summer. I might need to buy some suitable pots to plant them in and some compost of some kind. Determined to get outside looking good too.
I've heard nothing from the job application I put in, but that is ok as I have a job that I enjoy and benefits aren't hassling me as yet to do more hours. I just wish they would say sorry you are not suitable, or we have now filled the position, rather than just saying nothing.
Another thing that has fallen off the radar is sorting DS's premium bonds. Need to get this done as he has been given money to buy some for easter. Not sure he can do that until the forms are filled in. Right off to do that nowMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Another 2 loads of washing in the process of being completed. The sun was out earlier but the skies look like rain again now. Will be using the dryer today I think. Might have a hoover as well today and then the downstairs will at least look half decent.
DS has finally (I think) had a light bulb moment that if he wants to pass his exams then he better do some revision. He didn't do as well as he had hoped on the last lot of mocks so realises some work is needed if he wants to get to college. I have been helping him by printing out timetables and calendars. His dyslexia makes it so he has no sense of time and which month comes next etc. If I say exams start in May, to him that could mean next week or in 6 months time. So having a calendar with it all set out will hopefully help him. Been going through the topics looking at ones he knows well and ones that he has no idea on. He is with XH today, and looking at the exams I have suggested (but up to him) that perhaps he cancels the visit the day before a full week of exams. I wont push it but think he is of the same opinion.
He has agreed that the xbox will not be turned on when he has a break, as he wont stop playing and that will be it for the day. He used to like playing outside with his basket ball and hoop, so I said that I would pump the ball back up ready. He was keen on this idea. Will try to find the ball pump next. Hopefully the weather will improve so this can happen.
Didn't venture out yesterday and just used what we had for our pizzas. Will need to head out today though for a few bits ready for the weak aheadMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

First day of this short week is done. Today is also UC Payday so I have moved money around and put bits in the correct pots. Work payday is Thursday so will pay a few more of the monthly pots when that is in.
Sausages and mash for dinner, although I really fancy a sausage casserole so may turn my sausages into that as the kids wont eat that. Either way we have all of the ingredients for that.
Only club of the week today, and then it will be an evening concentrating on DS getting started on his revisionMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

We made it to the school holidays - yay. It was so so busy and I seem to have taken on another role and person to help with their admin. It is fine as long as all know I have so much to do their work may not be first.
It was also payday yesterday so the bank is looking healthy and topped up. Will move a few pounds around when allowed. We did treat ourselves to a takeaway last night, and it will also make up my lunch today.
No sign of the children yet and will allow them to sleep in today as nothing planned for us today other than revision and clearing up. DD1 didn't get home until almost 2 this morning so I didn't have a good night sleep as planned. I need to get my sisters birthday card in the post as it needs to be with her by Sunday - cutting it fine and she may not get it.

However I remember my DS1 being the same way , puberty seemed to be really tough on him for a few years. I am hoping my DS2 is just going through the same and will come out the other side eventually.
@LadyWithAPlan my ex was the opposite of MSEgambler, drinker, like women and spent all his money on them rather than me and his kids....I am glad to be shot of him. Good luck to anyone else that attempts to take that on. If I tried to save money he would purposely tell me he needed the exact amount I saved for some harebrained scheme or expenditure and I apparently had no say as I was not the main earner. Good riddance
I practice meditation perhaps not Buddhism, but a Buddhist meditation- Metta, loving kindness. I sent my ExH loving kindness for years after we broke up, which seems odd, but it actually really helped me to remain non homicidal and on an even keel when it came to handing children over to him every other weekend. I am sure he was kinder to me too in return....when DP came along though a green eyed monster overtook him and no amount of loving kindness helped
yes chanting /praying for others happiness especially if they have been difficult is hard to practice but very helpful I find !slm6002 said:Another 2 loads of washing in the process of being completed. No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
