@dawnybabes i tried the orange twirl once I believe and enjoyed that. They sound like they should be nice but disappointing when we eat them.
Anyway another busy day going from one thing to the next. Really busy at work today, then I had the hospital and then electrician and then dance class and then supermarket shopping. Now collapsed on the sofa mustering up enough energy to get in the shower.
Hospital was really busy and I ended up parking in a bit I hadn't parked before and then walked a very long way round to the back of the building as I couldn't find another way in lol. The lady was lovely and sorted me out and suggested some things to try with the telephone if the tweaks made didn't make much difference.
I then came home and about half an hour later the electrician turned up and tried to stop the beeping. It didn't work so he is having to call the people who make it and trouble shoot why it is still beeping. He is back this way on Monday so hopes to pop by then to stop it.
I am hoping for some relaxation time soon. This week has been non stop. I heard my Uncle is coming to stay in about 6 weeks so need to finish some of the DIY bits that have been left. Still not finished painting the downstairs toilets yet. I hate the woodwork bit so left it - but should really get it done.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

It has been a long long week but we have made it to the weekend. Today DD2 has a party that I need to take her to and hang around at and then tomorrow I am off to the local museum to see the new display that is only there for a short time. I will have a walk around, do any shopping in town needed and pick up an Olio collection if there is one.
Last night the ladies from work and I went to a local quiz night. I think we did pretty well but in a room full of seasoned quizzers we had no chance. We were not last though, and we had a lovely curry and fun time. I was driving so they insisted on buying my meal and drinks for me. The curry was really nice and was a snack box, so a little rice, some curry, saga loo and onion bahjis. (excuse the spelling lol). Anyway a late night but still awake before the rest of the house.
I had a call from the electrician who had spoken to the fire alarm people. We believed that the base was beeping, but he was told that the base doesn't have a sound function. He then asked if I have a carbon monoxide alarm nearby. Yes I do on the windowsill! It was that beeping! It was not just me thinking it was coming from the ceiling, the electrician was convinced too. Anyway thankfully after changing the batteries in the other alarm the beeping has finally stopped. It is lovely not hear it every other minute.
On Thursday evening when cooking dinner I came across a defrosted freezer. Someone (I think I know who) had put something on the wire which had made the plug come out. All food was past saving so it in the bin. We now have an empty freezer. I need to decide how to fill it - batch cooking? Batch meals ready to cook in slow cooker etc or just ingredients?
Need to make a couple of lists to get things out of my head - Christmas / birthday lists, work to do before uncle arrives, day to day work to do. I also need to work out my hours I would like to work so I can get my afternoons back and make use of them. My meeting is on Tuesday so I will let manager know then.
Must get onMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

With filling the freezer I think I'd go with a mix of some batch cooked meals but also some ingredients too. You can always batch cook some more batch cooked meals once you've got a few "ready meals" in rather than trying to do loads of batch cooking in one go.

Does your house insurance cover freezer spoils .?I have a chest freezer, the drawers are full of batch cooked meals the rest is ingredientsSealed pot challenge 822

We do have freezer cover but I always assumed that was for if something went wrong with the freezer or if electric was off because of power cuts etc rather than user error. I will look into it and see if we can. To be honest there wasn't much meat in there so nothing too expensive, but with the price of food it still mounts up.
My friend has just invited me out for another quiz tonight. Not sure if I will go as yet as my cold is progressing and think I just need an early night. We will see

I would also suggest freezing some basic sauces eg tomato/onion or curry so you can easily add protein or more veg later. How annoying re the freezer - one of my old one had a moment and i ended up frying up so much meat as it was nearly all defrosted - made masses of mince and stews which all went straight back in to freeze.
Loved your comment from last month re DD1 as below... Like marrying rich and not having an education and skills to fall back on is ever a good plan .slm6002 said:
Been trying to prise details of what DD1 wants to do / have later on in life. Doing it in the hope that we can work backwards and see what the next step is. So far falling in love with a handsome rich man is the most she has come up with. Told her she needs a plan B!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Glad I am not the only one having these issues. She did tell me that yesterday she emailed the apprenticeship (she started, but the application was closed as she barely put in more than her name before giving up) to reopen her application so that she can carry on with it. So fingers crossed she can at least get one application finished. It will then be a long wait until Feb when it closes.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

All done work wise for today. Left an hour early as I have some hours outstanding and am still suffering a little with the cold I currently have. There are no clubs tonight and I plan on getting PJs on as soon as the school runs are done.
Well DD1 did finish her application but they have declined to take it any further. At least she tried. We are now looking for others, and found 1 more so far. She has applied - but wish she would perhaps let me have a quick read of the application so I could show her where things could be adjusted to sound a little more professional.
For the past week I have been trying to get in touch with the people that sold us DS's bed. We sent them a video as requested over a week ago and now they are not answering their phones or emails. Not sure what to try next. The bed is going to collapse soon and DS will end up on the floor. I decided I wanted the money back as I don't think they will very efficient at sending a new part. If I could just get them to answer their phones or emails.
DD1 and I went on our cooking course Tue and made sausage cassoulet which was really tasty. Will be making some more for the freezer I think. Tonight for dinner is cottage pie. Even better is DD2 is wanting to cook itMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
