DS's stinky teen boy bedding on the line and the windows in his room open wide to give it a good air.
I cant wait for my gates at the back, as just had some random person decide to try and walk through but was met with a side gate and then I caught him coming back looking a bit miffed. I want to leave the back door open but I dare not until the gates are secure at both ends. I am not even sure why they feel then can walk through as we are at the end of a private road, so not really somewhere you would be unless completely lost and you can see it is someone's back garden. The gate man says he is completely booked up for 3 weeks but hopes to book us in early July as they should be ready by then. I really hope so. I have been looking at fairy lights too so I can make my garden pretty and a little girly. At the moment it is all concrete as XH made it that way so he didn't have to cut the grass. In an ideal world my grass would be put back and the borders which are huge would be made thinner. One dayMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Thank you Jessy, yes fingers crossed it is soon. I just don't know why anyone would really need to be down our road to have to cut through as it is so out of the normal walk way.
Anyway BBQ was a success. We invited next door too as we knew he had wanted one before he leaves at the end of the month and thought this would be a good chance. He has just left with a full tummy and happy that we thought to invited him.
All of the washing was dried and bought inside before we all started BBQing. I still need to remake my bed and make sure DS makes his or he will just sleep on a bare mattress and bare duvets etc. Tomorrow I hope to do the girls bedding and the towels and then we will be all clean - also maybe some of DD1's clothes that need doing. She tells me she has no washing but unless she has been naked all week I see that as unlikely.
The rest of the day will be encouraging DS to do some revision, doing a meal plan (need to look in the garage freezer to see what is lurking in there. I would also like to hang the curtains that I bought a while ago for the living room. The reality is that I am not likely to paint it anytime soon, so may as well put the curtains up now and enjoy them.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well its going to be a hot day and already feels stuffy in our usually cool house. All windows open and the door is also open while I am in the kitchen keeping an eye. I feel for the people over the road as they are moving out this weekend. Too hot for that kind of work.
Trying to get DD1 moving as we need to feed friends cat that she is being paid to do, so some urgency is required. I then need to nip to aldi for yoghurts as another bit of tooth from each side has disintegrated this morning which is making eating a challenge currently. No idea what is for dinner, but something soft and that doesn't require too much cooking I reckon
Once home I need to encourage kids to strip the beds and do homework / revise, but other than that I think some cross stitch in the shade will be todays workMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Washing done, quick nip to the air conditioned shops for some soft food bits. This morning I completed a months worth of cross stitch and now giving my eyes a rest.
Bribed DS with a donut if he got everything together for tomorrows exam - at least he will have all of the correct tools for the exam. DD1 has fed friends cat and is now panicking over an assignment that she has had since before half term and is due tomorrow.
It really is a warm day and I have not moved much, but we have a lovely breeze going through the house. Cats have flopped on the cold wooden floor - they have plenty of water so will be ok.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Another hot few days. DS did his exam and is still very laid back but mum always complained that I was almost horizontal so I guess we know where it comes from.
Free time out of work has been mainly sitting in the living room with the window open as it creates such a lovely breeze, almost too cold. Tonight no one has screamed they are hungry and I've just been round and they all want a bowl of cornflakes or something similar. Guess it wont hurt, but even now they are still in their hot rooms when downstairs is so much cooler. I need to put the bin out and water the tomato and strawberry plants - also really need to sort the hose out - the spray bit came off in DD1's hand the other day.
The children take it in turns to empty the dishwasher and really that is their only chore that I make them do. It is only once every 3 washes but DD1 is point blankly refusing at the moment and thinks its funny and clever. In this heat the plates etc need to be washed straight away rather than sitting attracting flies in the kitchen. Need to think of a good punishment that she will listen to and will show the others not to follow their big sister. Remove her car keys (although she has work tomorrow and it will create more work for me if I do), feed her on the same plate over and over again (some might see this as abuse), will keep thinking lol.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Turn off the wi-fi until she does it? Hide her phone charger? 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Problem is they all need the wi-fi for homework and this battle could go on for a while. Plus I am struggling with DS doing his homework and he would love that excuse lol. Phone charger maybe thoughMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

The dishwasher is all done after a lot of nagging and threats to remove car keys. It did take at least 2 days but it was done and I wont back down. She has also just been paid a nice little sum for feeding a friends cat over the weekend so they don't have to keep putting it in the cattery. Another nice little side line for her that doesn't really take much effortMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Well only 1 day until the weekend and looking forward to tomorrow as I am meeting up with best friend for her bday lunch and then out in the evening for the work girls meal out. I have looked at the menu for tomorrow and see there is a veg curry which will soft enough hopefully for my teeth. Wondering if the sun will continue and if we can sit outside as I have already decided which summer dress to wear. Need to wrap friends bday gifts tonight and find her card I bought.
Another load of washing on the line currently drying. Hopefully it will free up the weekend as I am getting some done now. Dinner is a simple one, chicken salad and new potatoes.
I have had my water bill and we are using less than last year. I have the choice to drop my DD from £27 to £18 or to keep it at £27 and claim back the £108.95 back. At the moment I am a little unsure which option to choose. Tempted to get the refund as I know I can afford the £27 and then it wont be such a shock next year when they put it back up. Will have a think which pot I would put it in if I do request a refund.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19
