@Lomcevak, maybe have a wander through the Fireside Chats thread and see if there is anything there of interest to you - here's a link - I feel a bit the same, having stopped work, drawing down occupational pension, mortgage paid and so on

Thanks @Suffolk_lass - will have a look. I've drifted away from MFW since I finished mine, so should pay closer attention.

I'm not really 'classic' FIRE, as the FI bit is more important to me than the RE part, so I don't really fit the 'save like crazy then stop' pattern of MMM et al. However, in a sense the FI bit is done; not finished, but there's not much more left than shovel money into savings for the next 5 - 10 years, depending on how much of a cusion I want. RE is harder, I don't want to give up work, but would love to do something more enjoyable than the corporate nonsense that fills my time. So I think that's the focus area. I've seen a number of folks with similar aspirations, but much less on how people actually go do it.

#56 reporting a highly unusual total for June of £41,320.

Sadly, this is from a close relative who passed away, and so it’s giving me mixed feelings. So, I am going to honour them by putting this towards a dream home which would have made them smile.

I’m updating my target to 55k.

    Xx

Hello, #70 here having called time on June from a saving/investment perspective. Have resubmitted May’s form as there was an error and also one for June. Number this month is another high one (£142,856) as I claimed against a second, almost forgotten insurance policy for my recent medical event. Was thinking about not including it in this challenge as it is not exactly ‘earned income’ in the traditional sense. But these ‘Save X in Y’ challenges are useful to set personal targets and track my overall progress to reach FIRE enlightenment before age 50. Nearly there.

Number 20 reporting in and updated the form.

£2100.58 this month. I have changed the way I save moving forward this month. No more regular savers! I am simplifying by saving in one place whilst I start the process of finding a house to buy. I am happy to sacrifice interest for the sake of simplicity for a few months. Fingers crossed I find the right home soon :)

    #27 reporting £1,306 for May.

Pretty ordinary month for me and nothing special/exciting to report. Bit of housekeeping required in early June as various Regular Savers/fixed account matures which will need consolidating into PBs/Marcus, this is my emergency fund.

S&S ISA was pretty much flat for the month, -0.27%.
    #27 reporting £1,035.40 for June.

Quite an unusual month as I made a rare withdrawal from my S&S ISA this month, S&S ISA contributions are paused and have been bulking up my cash savings to fund my new house purchase! Moving out of London, and having to re-jig some things around to fund the SDLT!

Very exciting times and I'm glad (and fortunate) to be able to use my savings for something tangible like this, feels like all this hard saving is worth it! All other contributions such as pension went ahead as normal (but not included in this challenge).

S&S ISA returned +1.4% over June. Wondering when I will be able to restart my contributions, should be within the next few months I'm hoping!

Form submitted. Well done everyone with your saving challenges and finally well done England! B)

  • #21 reporting £1,122.77 for June, was a bit disappointed again as I did have to withdraw some money for more car repairs and vets visit (factored into savings but was hoping not to have more bills now -car that is, dogs get whatever they need). I also withdrew for a long weekend camping, hadn’t factored in any savings for holidays but will be good to see friends again assuming it is allowed to go ahead. Progress feels so slow and I just want to save even more and see progress sooner

@slowlyfading you counted my April figure twice somehow and what you currently have in my June total is my may figure, June is this one which I have submitted. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
