Good afternoon MrsSD and fellow declutterers, sorry for the delay again in posting. Not much has been going on on the decluttering / cleaning front since my last post, but I have got back on the charabanc today by tidying up the room where we are hosting our Christmas dinner. My parents are coming on Christmas Day, so a small gathering. Spent four hours tidying up and making it look like a room again and vacuumed throughout. Plenty of rubbish thrown out I have succeeded in this task, hopefully my wife will appreciate this when she comes home from work tonight. It's a rare event for me being at home on my day off, so thought that some cleaning and decluttering would be in order. Next Thursday is delivering presents to family (my next day off), and then it's Christmas. Just wanted to say have a safe and peaceful Christmas to all of you and all the best for 2022. MrsSD - please mark me down for a seat on your charabanc for departure on the 01/01/22 😉 cheers 🙂9

Currently in the middle of 10 days of work: next day off is Tuesday then off 25/26. Pretty much sleep (if I'm lucky), do Covid test, eat, work, repeat.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Oops, getting a bit lax in posting 😔 Wednesday was another dry day but slightly colder ☹️ DH spent an hour or so creating enough space to park a motorbike without impinging on our ability to get into the fridge freezer in the garage 👏 I also had a productive day 🙂 First I phoned my bank - paid my CC bill + checked accounts & updated my ledger (a notebook 😂) Next I sorted out our First Aid supplies cubbyhole & yes I did utilise the hamper box. This freed up a large QS tin which was used to store the sweeties/chocolates from 3 plastic tubs. I also managed to empty a small First Aid box which is now washed & will be donated to CS. All the medical supplies including BP monitor now fit nicely into one cubbyhole 👏 DH & I had hm soup for lunch - one of my better ones as it has depth, flavour & warmth 😋 I then dealt with a cleaning frog which has been on my To Do list for months 😔 - small oven as thoroughly cleaned as I could manage including oven shelf 🙂 & the double glass door. I will be booking a professional clean after Christmas. Dinner was breadcrumbed chicken, mash & baked beans. Wudupa. Then wrote a menu plan & shopping list.
Thursday is another dry day. DH has gone shopping & I am watching junk TV & psyching myself up to sort fridge & freezers.
2261 - 2278 Kitchen recycling, office recycling, 9 magazines, glass bottle, 3 plastic sweetie tubs, 3 cardboard boxes - recycled
2279 - 2280 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - binned
2281 First Aid box into CS bag
Quite agree balabooberlies 🙂
Never, ever too late to join in Proofread100 🙂 Welcome aboard 👋 & ‘tongue in cheek’ congratulations on decluttering DH 🙃 You have taken the first step by deciding to declutter & have given me my next project - writing a brief guide to getting started 😃 However for now a couple of suggestions to get you in the mood - take a black bin bag & a recycling bag round each room in your home & fill accordingly; decide whether you are going to declutter by room/area or just on an ad-hoc basis; write a To Do list & do the one thing that brings your mood down most - it could be clearing the kitchen work surfaces or maybe having a tidy bedroom. That is all for now but again welcome aboard & I look forward to reading about your successes 👏🙂
DH is back so I will sign off & return later.

Thank you so much......to all
Some great advice. I will write the list, I work better keeping things short and sweet. Lose focus otherwise.
Lots of things put into 'like for like' again although nothing has gone out yet. Spent too many hours faffing about with my printer. Needed to print label for the first lot of books I have sold but had to cancel collection because of silly printer. It's still not working. I have hardly used it !
But onwards and upwards. Suitcases with clothes that have been sitting in the hallway are now in bedroom ready for sorting. A lot of energy expended but no totals to report. Yet !
You're all lovely to give me your time and advice. Helped settle me.

Managed to shoe horn the Christmas meats into the freezers - venison steaks, duck breasts, a small turkey crown & a bit of pheasant. Put away the rest of the shopping but need to amend my menu plan as DH picked up a ready roasted chicken (couldn’t turn it down for £2.50 😉) & a couple of items couldn’t be put in the freezer 😔 Tonight’s dinner was roast chicken, mash & sweetcorn. Will do the wudupa after this post 😉
2282 & 2283 Kitchen recycling & kitchen detritus
Wow mothernerd - you are definitely charging along 🤩 Making me tired just reading how much you are doing 👏 Although you are getting a little help from DS3 & Beloved, it must seem like you are doing most of it yourself so I am rather pleased that you are letting DS3 pay for the waste wizard 👏 one less thing for you to worry about 🙂 I am also dead chuffed for you having another CBT session - something for you 👏 Excellent decluttering 👏
vulpix everything crossed that your wardrobe sorting leads to some decluttering 🤞
Remi sounds like a bundle of fun, accidentalglixch 🙂 Well done on reinforcing that you are the pack leader 👏 Good work on the decluttering 👏 & at least the recycling is out of the house 🙂
wort, Your Yorkshire Pudding recipe sounds easy enough for me to make 😉 which I might have to resort to as I have no freezer space for Aunt Be*sie ones ☹️
Excellent work balabooberlies 👏 & what a great result finding the missing paint 🥳 A win-win - you aren’t going mad & you have saved money 🥳 Glad you didn’t delete the 2nd part of your post. This is a safe place to vent & put your thoughts down to clarify how you are feeling. Seeing everything written down will help you to make a considered decision that is best for you. Meanwhile I am sending you virtual hugs 🤗 & gratitude for being brave enough to share with us.
Succinctly put retiredinfrance 👏
Gem-gem I will be round later for some lasagne 😉😉
Great work Happy_Kitties 👏
Sorry to hear that SiL has succumbed nannywindow ☹️ The whole thing seems never ending 😔 & our bunch of muppets seem to be making the exact opposite decisions to every other government in the world. (Off at a tangent now - does anyone watch Richard Osman’s House of Games? One of the games is to change one word to make a statement true. The particular statement that DSis & I thought was true without changing a single word pertained to muppets singing & dancing in Downing Street - the guest only won the point by changing Downing to Sesame ☹️ Sadly not one of the 3 comedians cracked a joke 😔) Well done n keeping up with the decluttering 👏 Keeping fingers crossed that your builder will put in an appearance 🤞I will take a couple of hugs from your hug bucket 👏
Thanks for the Welsh - I will come back with Buona Notte 🙂
As this post is so long I will come back with a 2nd post to finish cheerleading 😉

Lovely post vulpix 🙂 Hope MiL has support in place now that she is out of hospital 🤞Congratulations on the raffle prize & I agree with Floss 😉 Great work decluttering clothing 👏 Enjoy the ironing 🙂 What a stupendous amount of money raised for the young lad 👏
Vascodakarma what a testament to your resilience that you have battled illness & arrogant medical staff & have come out still fighting to improve your life - I am in awe. Thank you for sharing your life with us 👏 It is such a shame about the winter trip to Iceland probably being cancelled but you do have the summer trip to look forward to 🤞 Thank you for mentioning mind mapping - I will investigate further & see if this is something I could do. Good luck with Fantasy You 🍀

Thanks Mrs SD for a brief guide to get me started. I have a few days off coming up so will do exactly as you suggested and get the one area cleared first that does bother me, the kitchen island/dumping ground.
I just spotted a few posts that resonated with me about memory problems, lack of moving around, joint pains etc. For those struggling with this, have you considered perimenopause? I had awful joint pains, gained 2 stone in 6 months, depression, lost my smile completely and in the end went to my GP, burst into tears and told her I was sure I had dementia!
I am almost 90% back to myself thanks to HRT.
It is something women need to be aware of. It's not all just hot flushes. The other changes for me were life-changing. Perimenopause can start up to 10 years before menopause. May not be relevant to any of you, but even if it points one person in the right direction, it's worth talking about.11 -
Bala, not sure if this is helpful. But if you are printing a label for the qr code to take to a collect shop, there are some shops where you can print it in the shop. Or hand write the label and take a screen shot of the qr code for them to scan.
Hope that makes sense? Not sure of reason why you are printing and could be wrong.
Good luck , I have a frustrating printer too!!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.9 -
Tired, oh so tired. Mr V wakes up at 4:30,so I do too, he goes to sleep down stairs in the arm chair, I am doing jigsaws and being tired.
Plenty to do today. I MUST eat a frog and put the spare king size quilt in a vacuum bag. ATM it is living in the spare room. I will have DD2 staying over Christmas so need to make room for her. If I can be bothered, I have 2 house plants begging to be potted on. I also have 8 knitted slipper socks to be sewn up. I would like to make a draw string bag for each pair too if I get time before the family come after Christmas. I don't care what the rules are by then. We are all triple jabbed due to our age and their jobs. If a rule breaking party is good enough for the Government It is good enough for me!
