@p00 , your poor friend, my dad had a series of falls and decided to stay in a care home so my brother and me have a 4 bed house with alot of things (not hoarding) but nearly a century of both parents lives, and nearly 3 hours away. Have a weekend when DD2 is away when I will start the process seriously fingers crossed.
1790 - 1792 clear out of the fridge and ood veg and jars
1793 -1796 2 items sold and packaging
1797-1799 broken mug, burnt saucepan and broken kitchen scales - luckily kept an old pair of scales - its time like this that it made sense keeping 'spares'.
1800 MOT and servicing booked and started to use whiteboard to list some things so hopefully more frogs to be sorted this week.

Hi all, thank you for all your good wishes.
Quick update on OH, much improved though still on oxygen it has been reduced to 40% today and the medics are pleased with her progress. There is talk of coming home in about a week if all continues well. Luckily I am able to visit every day but it is time consuming. I have managed to keep up with the washing and drying as well as the numerous phone calls etc to update family and friends but apart from that all I have decluttered is the usual rubbish as it is bin day tomorrow. Generally knackered so off to bed now
Take care everyone8 -
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Monday has been slightly warmer with plenty of blue skies & sunshine & a bit of rain. DH & DSis have done nothing all day 😱 I have done slightly more 😉 had my annual health check - decluttered some blood 🙂. BP slightly high so have to go back in 2 weeks to have it taken again ☹️ A complete waste of time as whenever I set foot in a surgery my BP goes up 😔 Also got the receptionist to update my records to show that I am now allergic to penicillin. Started my trying to reduce BP by walking to 3rd bus stop before catching a bus 😉 I cooked up a large pan of Bolognese sauce - DH & DSis had spaghetti Bolognese for dinner. I had a bowl of hm soup with a bit of spaghetti & a spoonful of sauce to bulk it out. Wudupa.
2004 - 2009 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, newspaper, brochure, glass wine bottle, large plastic pot - recycled
2010 Kitchen detritus - binned
GrannyKate, Spending time with your sister is way more important than decluttering & a lovely use of your time 🙂. How lovely that you could re-home all those letters 👏
So sorry to hear you have been so unwell nannywindow ☹️ However, nice to see you back 👋 and please feel free to pop in & chat - it is never moaning 😉 You are having such a rough time ☹️ & such a shame that you have had to cancel your holiday 😔 Pleased to hear that DGD isn’t suffering & I have absolutely everything crossed 🤞 that you & the rest of the family stay negative 🤞 I also admire your determination to have your holiday - plenty of winter woollies & thermals I think 😉 & don’t forget the hot water bottles 🙂 What a bonus that you had already cleaned & tidied the house 👏🙂 Belated anniversary good wishes & very MSE that your Chinese will last 2 nights 👏 As to collecting the decorative gravel nothing cheapskate about that just very MSE (I do miss the icon) Hopefully some of the family will pitch in & help you🤞
p00, that is such a sad story ☹️ Does your friend have any other family members to give her a hand? I agree that it does spur us on to make sure our homes don’t get into such a state. I really like the good story about your sister 👏
ruby_eskimo good news about the sale 👏 Nothing wrong with having a pile of Christmas presents - after all they will be gone in 2 months 😉 Btw when you have finished helping your parents & your MiL perhaps I can book you to help me 😉😉
Excellent decluttering Finstickle 👏 & hooray for the rain 😉😉 Good work on going through your listings & hopefully the items left listed will sell & fund your next project 🙂 I am positive you will hit your target - 2 items a day is all that is required 🙂😉
Welcome CCW007 👋 Never too late to join us aboard the Decluttering Charabanc/s 🙂 I remember reading about “the 9th square” - from memory a great idea when you first move in but becomes more difficult the longer you have lived somewhere 😔 A solid start to your decluttering journey 👏 I am looking forward to cheering you on & celebrating your successes 🙂
vulpix, hopefully the gum specialist’s recommended course of treatment will be successful 🙂🤞 Yippee to DS cooking & gardening 🥳
How exciting TC77 🙂 Shame your dad’s house is so far away but if your brother is also helping & you can agree a strategy, it will hopefully be fun. The other thing that could be a bit stressful is if you have a time limit ☹️ Great decluttering in your home 👏
Liverpool_Anne, very pleased to hear that your OH is so much better 🙂 However daily hospital visits are not only time consuming but can be very stressful, so please try to take care of yourself as well.

Morning all!A busy start to to the day - completed some paperwork for my cremation by post. One less thing for my children to think about 😃 and it hasn’t been upsetting in the slightest even though I was at deaths door two weeks ago 😂😂 all I can think about is how much money and how much upset I will save if, firstly it’s all planned and secondly, my children know exactly what my wishes are - no fuss and no frills.I need to get out of the house today I clear my head (again) i’m still finding stuff for the charity shop!!I’ve not got any further with sorting/selling/recycling any of my old electronics - might be time to draw a line and dump them all in the electronics bin in Tesco. The rule about not putting things in the dustbin is really tedious but I still can’t break it. It’s time to draw a line and see it for what it is - something that will never happen again!! 🥳🥳
my house, my rules and the new rule is that this stuff never comes in my house in the first place! I feel so much relief knowing that I’m in control. Lord knows I love my children and my stepsons but I’m so glad I don’t have to share my living space with any of them, or anyone else. I’ve been single for a long time but this is the first time I’ve lived alone and I’m starting to love it 😂😂.When I get back from Rotterdam next week, I am going to shield for the rest of the winter. I’ll be spending Christmas here, not travelling down to Devon or Cornwall to visit the children.Sad to say that unless I look at photos, I can’t remember clearly what I did last Christmas. I know I had a lot of angst about the lockdown rules and, guilt because of having a wee Nursling in the family (which definitely affects my noggin) I had plans but I didn’t go and now my mind is desperately trying to fill in the blanks.I’m going to try a list today - 😂😂 just typing the word list made my stomach do a gentle heave but I’m going to power on through. The goal is to remain focussed all day. I don’t have a body double or an accountability partner so I’m counting on you guys😃
1. ‘Make my bed’
2. Deal with returns
3. Holiday checklist
4. Wind down for bed.8 -
Hi,
Welcome CCW007, You will find reading about other peoples efforts will spur you on ,it definitely does me.
Very good news Liverpool-Anne. The decluttering can wait when your time is taken up with more important things .x
3 of my 6 frogs are eaten ,though there are numerous other frogs clamouring to get on the list. Still to eat
* shorten the other door curtain
*get the emulsion off the exposed brick
*put new handles on drawers
I am guilty of getting bored and not finishing a job so declaring them as frogs will make me get on with them.
957. 2 framed prints to DS
958. another of my lifetime collection of washing up bowls in the bin
Vx

We moved more chippings than we thought yesterday but there's still some left to shift and bag. Unfortunately the weather is a bit of a wash out today, but maybe it will dry up enough after lunch to finish the job. It has certainly shown us how unfit we have become 🤦🏽♀️DGS had his jab yesterday and he has a sore arm. His head was filled with stories of trackers etc. by other children, but he saw reason and got it done. They were ages in the jabbing centre as he and DD had to relate the story that they had tested negative even though DGD was positive over and over to different people. It was only by chance that DD had tested DGD too because they were going to visit my Dad on his 92 birthday. DGD was upset as she would be missing our hols, any Halloween trick or treating and also her 10th birthday party, horse riding and grooming with her friends, the latter has been re-arranged for the end of Nov now. We have promised to visit her with her presents on her birthday and stay socially distanced, probably standing outside on the pavement 😥 and we are video calling often to chat. I had a lesson in how to draw a dog's face last night !Having eaten the takeaway I shall clean out the containers and reuse them, then I will declutter some of the old ones into the recycling, watch this space for numbers.I have a frog pending so I'll make it my mission to at least find the paperwork today before I call the company.Hugs to anyone having a tough time at present. Thanks MrsSD for the warm welcome back.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently8

@nannywindow. That gravel saving is vert MSE and something I would have done.
@p00 Too darned right. That is always in my head nowadays. Commiserations for your friend. Tell her just to do a bit at a time if she can and wear a good mask and gloves while doing it and get help if she can.
Welcome @CCW007. A single step is all that starts a journey so they say
Poor you re gums @vulpix. Sadly you are no the only one. Fantastic getting some of those jobs done at last. I was looking out for some of those mouse ornaments at the vintage shop the other day as you had mentioned them. Not a one but if you want a baby deer sitting by a log thing you can have any number, lol
Glad your hubby is on the mend @Liverpool_Anne
@Mrs_Salad_Dodger. Sorry to hear about your blood pressure. Mine goes up as soon as I start talking so I shut up while they are doing it. Plus I deep breath and think happy thoughts. Its worked so far
So this morning I popped by just to catch up but also made myself a new motto. 'Frogs Before Fun'. This after putting off several simple to sort phone calss yet again yesterday. I have got a card with it whcih I will leae on my computer keyboard as most days I check my emails before going out.

White coat hypertension - Wikipedia

My husband has white coat hypertension to the level that the Cardiologist prescribed tablets that he would have to take for the rest for his life. We tried to persuade the Cardiologist to do more research, but he wouldn't budge and insisted we pick up the prescription and husband start taking the tablets. We did pick up the tablets, but bought a blood pressure meter and he measured his blood pressure 2 or 3 times a day, I put the results in Excel and after 3 months made a nice colourful graph (Excel has a button that does this automatically). We went back for a 'check-up' and talked about how it went, doctor was very pleased when he saw the graph. And then we told him husband hadn't taken a single tablet...... Doctor admitted defeat and suggested we contact a Neurologist. We haven't yet, because I think husband's headaches are related to the stress he experiences keeping the fact that he has a mistress hidden from me....
