Hello all, sorted out a couple of boxes of crafty/arty stuff, throwing away any broken bits & bobs .Did another pile of shredding.5
-
1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉
4. CLEAN & EMPTY SURFACE AREAS - DAILY
Wednesday was rain of biblical proportions & the breeze sometimes had it coming down at a 45 degree angle 😱 DH has finished the easier painting - last section of ceiling done, two coats of paint on the last wall & all the touching up. He also put up the curtains & the new light shade (bought about 2 years ago 😔) DSis did her washing so had to use td to dry ☹️ I have been very lazy in dealing with my post so it became a frog which I spent Wednesday dealing with, whilst clearing down even more programmes from the planner. Dinner was chicken in breadcrumbs, mash & baked beans. Wudupa.
What a difference a day makes - Thursday is bright & sunny with clear blue skies but so cold & the recycling wheelie bin has finally been emptied after a fortnight (usually weekly) 👏 DH was up early for a phone consultation with the cardiac doctor then headed off to pick up his patched motorbike trousers & then on to sm for a smallish weekly shop. I am currently watching a scary film - always best to watch in the day to avoid a sleepless night 😉 Getting a bit annoyed at the main character as she doesn’t seem capable of turning the lights on 😖 I do have a few things to do so will start once the film is over 🤞
1982 - 1987 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, 2 booklets, newspaper, 1” paperwork - recycled
1988 - 1991 Kitchen detritus, 0.5” shredding, used paint roller & paint tray liner - binned
You & me both ruby_eskimo - love a list but rarely cross anything off 😔 An excellent day’s work 👏
skogar, what a lovely memory 🙂 even with the impoverishment of being a student 😉 It obviously didn’t put you off opera though 👏🙂 Whenever opera comes up in conversation I remember the film Pretty Woman 😉
vulpix, was it free form jazz - I really cannot get on with that - sounds like people who don’t know how to play their instruments 😬 Although many years ago on a holiday in Canada, DH & I were lucky enough to be invited to a jazz club by our Canadian friend. Happily the band played traditional jazz so rather enjoyable 🙂 Thank you for the compliment 👏 The company (think multi coloured umbrella) were very active when it came to ‘social responsibility’ & encouraged & supported their staff in charitable activities. They also instigated the MAD Awards & the remarkable thing about it was that the nominations were made by the staff. The fact that my colleagues nominated me not just once but twice was the most uplifting part of the experience & I was blessed by receiving an award both times 🙂 I rather like your frog list & cheeky grin 😁 - we can hold you to account 🙃 Looking into & admiring your clear spare room is a well deserved pleasure 👏 One medal 🏅 coming your way for ignoring frogs & having a brew with your neighbour. Acts of kindness are far more important 👏🙂 Such a shame about the oak tree ☹️ but better to deal with it now before any real damage & potential injuries are caused ☹️
Thanks for that Wednesday2000 - I will have a listen. Any more visits from the Clutter Gremlins?
Oh p..p, 3secondmemory ☹️ but a rather posh sounding new online identity 🙂 Vascodakarma rolls off the tongue 🙂👏
D123456789, Thanks for sating my curiosity 👏🙂 What a bonus that LO is enjoying school. You are reaping the rewards of all your hard work - a balanced & happy life which you have grabbed with both hands 🙂👏 You are an inspiration & an example to us all that we can live a balanced life 🙂 so thank you for sharing your life with us 👏
2Scratters you have been very busy & have managed to do a great deal of decluttering 👏 Balanced out by some ‘you time’ 🙂 Checking out information to deal with a frog is an excellent use of your time 👏
Well done on sorting out the bag of stuff TheMsTeale 👏 Re the old cameras it might be worth trying to find a specialist camera shop before listing on the bay of E 🙂 You are motoring along nicely 👏
florianatwobob, you might be decluttering money but at least it is for a good cause 👏🙂
Vascodakarma nice to see you back with your new identity 🙂 I am chicken when it comes to anything to do with electronic devices ☹️ I get my lovely DH to sort it out 🙂👏 Of course you are in control 🙂 you are learning from experience 👏🙂 Just had a quick look at the fat face website - lovely clothes 🙂 so well done on your find 👏 Dealing with paperwork is what I go to when I should be cooking 😉
Well done Liverpool_Anne 👏 Hopefully the repairs won’t be too expensive 🤞 I am keeping everything crossed 🤞 that the union issue doesn’t turn into a problem 🤞Good news that just a cold 🙂👏 “I also managed to break a tooth so tomorrow I will try to get a dental appointment” 😱 “So much money being decluttered this week my purse is starting to complain about overwork and demanding to wfh 🙂” - I know I shouldn’t but I did have a rueful smile.
TC77 what a pain 😖 - I am of the opinion that once a workman starts a job they should finish it - not only professional but polite 😔 Sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed but if you can tackle things slowly & a bit at a time you should start to see a difference 🙂 You are making a concerted effort to declutter & should be proud of yourself 👏 As to the emotional/mental clutter please try not to stress - it is an ongoing process & you have taken the first step in recognising it 👏 Now you can think about a solution & a way to move forward. Wishing you every success with your claim. Good decluttering btw 👏
Siebrie, I was correct - you do have a magic attic 😉 Well done on all the decluttering 👏 As to the small plastic box perhaps you can fill it with money from sales 😉😉

I keep having to re log in to my regular sites and change my password. I'm sure its the IT not me! DS2 came round and did some jobs. New blind up in kitchen with much swearing. Disappointing quality from MrDun although it looks nice. We had to substitute decent screws and rawl plugs as the ones supplied were useless. Old blind should go to tip tomorrow but I'll count it when its actually gone.
1564 Bulbs planted
1565 Various recycling done including packaging from new blind
1566 IT and TV issues sorted by DS2
Went shopping with DS2 and decluttered significant money. Going South tomorrow to collect my sister. No real reaction to Covid booster and flu jab except slightly stiff arm so that is good.

Decluttered a worry today. Wasn’t sure what to do but several cups of tea with the bestie and a chat with another, worry no longer a worry and now realise how to deal with it in a better and stronger way. Result!
*Did acquire a couple of items today but not to keep. Two presents for next year at amazing prices so money saved and a neutral item that will be sent out next year to the charityDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks for all the info on the opera - as it's in Sanskrit, they aren't doing surtitles or translation - so will do some reading later.

Thursday continued to be bright & sunny with clear blue skies but oh so cold 🥶 DH’s phone consultation was with a member of the consultants team. Long chat & will be receiving a letter the upshot of which will be that DH might have to take a daily pill. The relief was palpable 🙂 Did one of the jobs on my list - prepped nearly all my sad looking vegetables (red peppers, butternut squash, parsnips, courgettes, aubergines, sweet potatoes, onions) mixed with olive oil & seasoned with salt, dried coriander & paprika then roasted them for soup at the same time I was cooking the sausages for dinner. We had the sausages with mash & tinned plum tomatoes with lo baked beans for DSis. Wudupa. Just need to decide my Friday Frog 😉

GrannyKate what a pain in the proverbial 😔 Definitely the IT 😬 Good work with the blind 👏 & well done to DS2 for sorting out the tech issues 👏
Good work Happy_Kitties 👏 Well done on sharing your worry with friends & what a great result 🙂 Sometimes getting another perspective clarifies our thoughts - the difficult bit for me is sharing - still think I should be able to sort problems myself - I know, I know - silly 😔
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏

Hi all, I wasn't very clear about the electrical items, I took them to the repair place so they could repair them or use them for spares and then sell them. They are a very small independent business working out of a small industrial unit trying to recycle rather than send stuff to landfill. They sell things like DVD recorders and video recorders/players that are not available in shops any more but a number of people still want. I know of a parent of an autistic young man who has about 40 video players stored in his garage because his son just will not accept changing to any other format to watch his films and he has equal duplicates of his favourite films. I was going to take them to the tip but this seemed a better option. They do get put in a separate place at my local tip and they are collected by someone who recycles everything apparently.
The cold is improving but not much done today apart from 3 loads of washing that I managed to get line dried in the sun and brisk breeze before the rain returned at tea time. I spent a lot of the day decluttering wood in the log burner and making notes about the union issue. I am expecting further phone calls either tomorrow or next week.
I always think of pretty woman too when I think of opera
Lists, I love crossing things off, I have found making lists invaluable during my working life but the only way they work for me now is to make them as detailed as possible. Rather than put Hoover I stipulate where I will hoover so even if I only manage one room it can be crossed off, and I add to it as I go along because then I can identify the frogsI have identified the frog for tommorrow, to sort out the pile of shoes in the bottom of my wardrobe. Told you now so it will have to be done
Off to bed now as I have to be up early to take the car for the MOT tomorrow.
Take care everyone7 -
Hello Mrs SD.
my whole attitude towards technology has changed in the last few years. I’ve been resistant to change - now it’s a lifeline. I just have to become expert at using it!This tiny piece of hardware really does do most of my work for me! And, if used properly, it’s more reliable than my challenged noggin! It’s nice to know that when my son and his partner come to visit, they don’t have to take me shopping or do errands for meHappy to say that I didn’t have much of a reaction for my Covid booster and Flu Jab‘s. I must be getting used to them, or the spicy red Thai curry, plenty of fluids, rest and a couple of paracetamol helped 🤷♀️I was warned that the flu jab won’t take full effect for two weeks so just sharing that 😃
I hope everyone has a productive day6 -
Hello,
Thank you for my medal Mrs SD. I was taken to a jazz concert on a date by someone who was a big fan. As soon as it started it was like a car alarm, I couldn't wait for it to stop. It was like a load of instruments falling down a flight of stairs! I can get on with more mainstream Jazz but wouldn't choose to listen to it over other stuff.
I am a long term customer of your ex work. I am heartened to hear that they are supportive to their staff and support their individuality.
Happy Kitties, I am similar to Mrs SD, very loathe about sharing a problem in any detail ,so good on you. When my neighbour called the other day she was upset and reached out. As I was telling her she had done the right thing and to call me anytime, I did feel a hypocrite as phoning someone when I was upset is the last thing I would do.
A big day at chez Vulpix yesterday. About 10 people (one woman) turned up, cut down ,cut back many trees. I was only expecting the oak tree to go. They also replaced the ancient electricity cables. I spent an hour sweeping up after they left. The cut and stacked trunks and logs are still there. I am fighting with myself to keep some. What for Vulpix?
I tried to do some frogs yesterday but not much luck. I replaced one new handle on the piece of furniture then got the screw on the set square stuck. Mr V not able to move it either so I will have to go old school and measure! I tried to make appointments for flu jabs at the Drs. NO. They can ONLY do clinics whilst Mr V at work. There is no way I could take my Mother on the bus ,she lives at the top of a very long ,steep hill. It would finish me off pushing a wheelchair down then back up. Taxis are a work of fiction here. I am looking into Boots chemist which is 10 miles away but whatever you need to do round here you need to travel. Living where we do ,does outweigh the expense and inconvenience of everything though.
I have been a patient at my Doctors since I was born but am almost done with them. The receptionists are just SO rude and unhelpful.
TC77, I don't want to tell you how to suck eggs but... When your daughter leaves how about emptying the room and then only put things back which make it into a spare room. It will make a big mess everywhere else but you can see what you are dealing with then. I did this and it was painful whilst it was underway but I am still getting such pleasure from one room that I love. All the upstairs gives me pleasure now. I want that in the rest of the house but need a break from it for a while as it is difficult and perseverance is needed to reach the goal. I will get back to it but am concentrating on sheds at the moment.
Vasco ,sorry too lazy to type it all. I applaud you for getting to grips with technology. I have no interest and am guilty of getting Mr V or the children to do what I bid technology wise. (some would say not just technology ,hahahaha)
So yesterday, I did a LOT of hand sewing. I am making a Moravian star and a quilt for DIL's Birthday.
948. i pod and 2 chargers
951. 3 washing up bowls used to transport plants here
953. 2 wooden boxes
954. electrical leads
955. broken storage box
Mr V has had a root in a shed, consolidating and sorting. I have the base bins back in the sittingroom.

Excellent de cluttering people Vulpix - Jazz I feel your pain!
Liverpool Anne I am also there maybe we recycle in the same place.
Totally failing on some fronts I still have my decorator and every room is full to the brim with things that should be in other rooms and then when he goes it will take me a week to clean even with a cleaner and then I think it is easier because I'm not just going too put the same stuff back.
On the mental head declutting I am doing better I am walking every morning as I am by the park only 8am to 8.30 then getting the bus to work. I am doing a stretch and mobility class on Fridays and Mondays which means I start work later and work later but that is fine. And I am going to swim on Saturday evenings as it is empty so like my own private pool unless I actually get a weekend social life - some hope. Next week I may actually have done some physical decluttering.
