Morning folks - there's been a bit of stall here as DM was seriously bad last weekend, so bad that the medics thought she'd pass then. Somehow she's rallied a bit though not enough to be hopeful.Anyway, the palliative care services brought in a hospital bed so a lot of the furniture in her room had to be moved. A dear friend managed to shift the big wardrobe with the help of a set of gliders. I've taken out all the clothes which are now in a pile in the dining room. I'm minded to start clearing them out though it's an emotional problem. Mum hasn't worn any of these clothes for over three years so the possiblity of her doing so again is nil.I've already taken bags of lovely jumpers and shoes to the Sally Army and now have trousers, skirts, jackets and coats to contend with. I feel two things 1) I really want to clear out the clothes and yet 2) it feels like I'm being too previous and it's still her stuff.I'll wrangle with myself a bit more, my head says 'get rid' and my heart says 'she's still here'. On the good side is that she is fine with me doing this, it's purely my own problem!14

Oh Gers
if your Mum is okay with it, do whatever it takes to get through this heart wrenching situation. But with mindfulness, gentleness.
Sending you a warm hug.

Heartwarming happy Kitties. I used to do shoeboxes when I worked at a school. I must get back to it.
The man with a van is on his way to take the dresser away. My kitchen looks like the aftermath of a hurricane. The thing about the glasses is, I very rarely drink! Real glasses are so much nicer though. At my friends last week she had bought some plastic wine glasses and the bottoms kept falling off!
With all my sales ,I sell cheap as I want them to go. They have served me well and owe me nothing. some things I buy, renovate and sell. It is my hobby I suppose. I enjoy saving old things... Mr V included .hahahaha. I have got over myself with the dresser. The lady having it loves it so I am happy with that.

Vulpix well done on the hobby, wish there were more people like you in these "throwaway" times. We too like to try to bring items back to life, DH does electrical/ mechanical or wooden. Me ? only if I can sew it, stick it or hammer it crudely back together. Probably why we work well together as a team, I'm usually on "tool passer or gofer " duty but don't give him any ideas about getting rid of old things as I'm older than him 🤣Binned yesterday, an old wet weather coat that DH ripped asunder on his way down from the shed. It was un-sewable but I couldn't be annoyed as he'd been up there giving my halogen oven the kiss of life as it had died. Think he performed bypass surgery or a miracle because it's working again better than ever.Hugs to anyone in need. MrsSD you are welcome to a virtual hug anytime.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

Afternoon MrsSD and fellow declutterers, well it's been a quiet time on the decluttering front since my last post. Had my 1st Covid vaccine on Friday and have just about recovered from it now 😉 I know what to expect when I go for my 2nd one in July 😉 went on a tip run today with an iron which had stopped working along with some small home electricals. Now have a new iron. Our daughter tried using crutches today but struggling to support herself. She prefers the Zimmer frame to support her broken leg. She has an online physio appointment tomorrow so let's see how that goes. Cheers 🙂13

MrsSD the downsize went OK, in April 2019 I put 90% of my life into storage for 4 months (along with my cat who went to a cattery) and moved into a bedsit while I started my (then new) job & completed on my house purchase. I had sold / donated all sorts of stuff from my 4-bed house and my buyers also bought the wardrobes in the back bedroom, washer & fridge and my beloved Rangemaster large range cooker.

Happy Sunday all. Got up at 5am don't know why. Made us a tea and went back to bed. Up again at 9am. Have spent some of the day dog walking to tire them out.
Went out to the charity shop just to feel alive and brought a new China mug for the princely sum of £1.
Brought a loaf. Boys in front of Netflix and I have decluttered for the rest of today (!)
20 items to sell or donate - not sure which yet.
Going through my jewellery tomorrow and shall hopefully sell on some gold this week. I am going to take the stuff found at mums alongside it and see if it's silver or white gold - will keep you updated if it's treasure or trash 😂
Lounging on the bed now thinking about the weeks meal plan. Does anyone know if I can make a batch of porridge and just keep in the fridge for a few days? Sorry if that's a stupid thing to ask.
Am going to repurpose my old t shirts and pj bottoms/joggers into cleaning cloths if only to stop me wearing them!
Must get out of my bag lady phase 😂kept an old pair of jeans for garden/house clearing and painting.
