My mother was a cook and baker, Vulpix, and I know how hard it was to part with stuff. I selected a few items to keep and I still use my grandmother's wooden rolling pin. Mum had a thick wire whisk made up of loops of metal held together with tightly bound string as a handle - I remember whisking egg whites for royal icing as a child. She also had a very fine mesh wooden flour/icing sugar sieve and these two items are hung on my kitchen wall either side of cooker hood. I think they probably came from my grandfather's bakery originally and are 100 years or so old but both in perfect working order. Mum made wedding cakes and we kids got to 'help' with lots of jobs. No decluttering to report yet. Been out to antique centre with DS2 and family but we got very wet.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Been a while since I last posted, but it is nice reading and cheering along with everyone.
Happiest decluttering of the year so far this week - over a foot of hair at the hairdressers! I now have shoulder length hair and a fringe, and feel like a new woman!
Also finally managed to get rid of the packaging for the new TV - wanted to make sure it was broken up and not visible so it took a while to get rid.
Still plugging away at using up shower gels etc which is going nicely and I have managed to avoid buying anymore which I am pleased with.
Slightly anti-cluttering, but I am trying my hand at growing plants, although the recent weather hasn't been kind to my plants!
Overall pleased that I have managed to avoid bringing in further clutter so far, even with the shops opening up.11 -
Had a productive morning and tidied up the whole house. Have been testing out toiletries from the stash all week to see if they are all keepers and there are some to donate to friends:
274 No 7 moisturising face mask smells horrible, made my skin feel greasy
275-276 No 7 hot cloth cleanser didn't feel quite like it all came off and has made me break out under the skin and I've been scrubbing too hard at my face to try and get it rinsed off. Went for a BOGOHP offer so had 2!
277 Essence fake lash mascara - been using this for a couple of weeks but it's too smudgy and makes my eyes water a bit so I've binned it
278 Lush perfume bottle finally finished to recycle
279 Spray deodorant - gave me a coughing fit, I've lost the lid already, will stay with my stick one
280 Plumping lip balm - made my lips tingle and swell so much it felt like an allergic reaction!
281 lip balm that makes my lips crack if I use it too much - binned
282-284 shampoo, conditioner, and soap used up
Freezer has been emptied apart from my staples of frozen raspberries (for overnight oats), ice cubes, and half a tub of strawberry ice cream. I can now start making extras of each meal and freezing for work lunches, and carefully restocking with only things I will enjoy eating rather than what I think I should have!
3 items in - suncream, face suncream, waterproof picnic rug - in preparation for fun summer outdoor activities. Still have enough toiletries to get through the rest of the year apart from perfume so will pick one up this week. This week I want to work on my jewellery as I haven't been wearing it for a long time and only keep the pieces I will wear on a regular basis."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better." 1. KITCHEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT2. JUST DO ONE THING EVERY DAY (courtesy of bit_by_bit) OTHER THAN DAY TO DAY CLEANING & DECLUTTERING
3. ONCE A WEEK LEAVE THE HOUSE (e.g. Go into city centre for bank & butcher; go to local town for cs dropping off or buying; visit the pub with DH 😉Back again 😉Another busy day mothernerd 👏 If you have a bit of spare energy could you please send it to vulpix & me 😉😉 or failing that a swift kick up the jacksie for each of us 😉😉Moneyonmymindsam, shame you are not loving the job ....... yet ........ but pleased that you have “met” some new colleagues who share your feelings 🙂 Somehow it makes it easier to persevere if you are not alone 😉 Colonel Mustard sounds like an idiot 😡 don’t let him bully you on the price you have agreed but perhaps throw in a couple of bits & pieces. If he is being a real pain perhaps check if there are any prospective purchasers still showing an interest & just waiting to step in 😉 I am keeping everything crossed 🤞 that CM is just trying it on but will come up trumps 🤞Btw, not sad that you are excited about a new carpet 🙂
TC77 not really off topic after all this is a decluttering AND cleaning thread 🙂 I have a squeegee mop & a steamer depending on my mood 😉 neither used as often as they should be 😔 I am sure there will be lots of ideas coming your way 🙂 Shame about the steam mop ☹️ Good decluttering 👏 and remember gazing at the successful result of decluttering does boost you to continue decluttering 😉 You just have to remind yourself that when it all done you will only open your cupboards to get items out or just admire your hard work 🙂🙂👏 A couple of suggestions already - wort’s one sounds quite good - my idea is to put the question on the flylady thread 😉 the posters there are the bees knees
when it comes to all things cleaning 👏
Nice to see you Lover_of_Lycra 👋 Well done on sorting your physical decluttering - one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way. Good luck with the electronic decluttering 🤞
EnergyShifter, very pleased that you are taking time & making the effort to look after yourself 👏 & it sounds like it has worked 🙂👏 Maybe you can make MNet part of your reward system?
D123456789, you are excused decluttering/cleaning projects when work is crazy 😉 as long as you don’t let day to day clutter gain a foothold 😉😉Great idea wort 👏Floss, Another good idea for TC77 👏 Shame about your stuff not selling but good on you for deciding to donate to CS & setting it in motion 👏 one Gold Star ⭐️ coming your way 🙂 Now in case any of you have forgotten how nosey I am 😉😉 how is the new job going Floss? I hope you are enjoying it 🙂 I also noted your original post stated you were downsizing - I hope that went well 🙂
Wednesday2000, the reason more clutter appears is that your “Decluttering Eye” is now attuned to your ‘stuff’ Once that happens you continue to declutter until you look around & see and know that everything you have is loved & wanted 🙂🙂 Excellent decluttering btw 👏 - one Gold Star ⭐️ on its way 🙂
Ooh vulpix - once you are settled in your cottage, I am looking forward to hearing about your garden parties 😁 My tuppence worth re your kitchenalia - Perhaps you can box up ALL your kitchenalia & store it away until you are fully settled in the cottage? Then once life is back to normal, you can make less pressurised decisions on what can go & what you absolutely love & want to keep 🙂
Great work HappyKitties 👏
What beautiful memories GrannyKate 🤗 and how very generous of you to share them with us 👏
Lovely to see you Foofoopuppy 👋 You must have been sitting on your hair 😉 and presumably it was quite comfortable & warm 😉😉sorry feeling a bit silly 😜 Breaking up packaging to avoid tempting burglars - I would never have thought of that - though I will remember for future large purchases. Still a sad state of affairs ☹️ when you have to think like that but a practical way to stay safe 👏 I am wishing you every success with your plant growing - it is such a fascinating pastime 🙂 and hopefully the weather will be kinder in the not too distant future 🤞See you later, hopefully I will have done at least some decluttering 😉😉MrsSD 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅 ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️Decluttering Target: 2021 938/20212021 Savings Pot: £41.00 to end of MarchBe Kind. Thanks for your cheerleading as always @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
@EnergyShifter - no not looking but really do need that driving licence to get anywhere. So that's a priority I think.
So not well but worked (being new and all that) I am now off work until Tuesday evening (shift work) I have done a round of washing. Cooked hm chios along with any old crap from the fridge 😂 can't say it was nice but filled a hole.
Cleaned office section of the room, the lounge, the bathroom and the kitchen including wuduapa.
Need to take bits out of the wm to put on airers - have a lot to catch up on.
Recycled a box (have more to go)
Still got the charity bag but hoping to add more to it this evening until I give up.
All boys parked in front of Netflix so I can get on and do 😂
Happy Saturday everyone.

Hi all. Everyone is so busy. I managed to give 3 bags to the CS today. Another two are in the car for Monday.
The plasterers were in yesterday and today. The through lounge now has one 2 seater sofa and a tv on its stand. That is very minimalist esp for me..
Nothing else is allowed in until the plaster and woodwork has been painted. Not until the middle of next week as it is drying out now.
Happy decluttering everone.

Evening, that's me done for the day I'm claiming 2.5 hours of cleaning and decluttering - I've been Round the place yelling trash, keep, recycle and donate 😂😂😂😂
I only have my wardrobe to do tomorrow - mainly clothes I think. I can add anything here to the charity bag. Hopefully I can get this done tomorrow and then the bag out of the home on Monday - even if its just to the car.
I did write a long post but lost it... Grrr

Leaps and bounds! 😃
Really touching visit from youngest. I had Christmas presents for him and partner, a spare room containing stuff from when he was in the 6th form, and the obligatory bag of interesting, nutritious vegan bits and pieces. It was a carful - he also took his brother’s keyboard and a spare ukulele but was just hanging around 🤷♀️Tomorrow I start on the shed. It’s mainly recycling and I will abuse the use of my vacant neighbours recycling bin. I know I can have a guilt free day in the garden because my house is looking pretty good! Still lots to do but I seem to have broken the paralysis.12 -
Not much decluttering today.Gave a bagful of beading supplies to a friends daughter. They are both very happy (but it’s not even made a dent in what I still have). Still, it does mean I have lessworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10
