Why do you need/ use firestick .
Well the original reason probably can't be discussed here but then that's not what it was so I don't do that any more.
So these days I've just plugged it in again because I've got 6 months Disney+ with my mobile deal.
On top of that if this direct playing of Plex via Kodi fixes my Plex issue then there'll be that also.
Not sure if there's anything else the stick can offer me that I'd benefit from.

  • I have a Firestick because a) the TV in my office (spare bedroom) isn't smart so it provides such features for me, and b) it means I can also take it with me when away on business to easily access Prime, Netflix etc. on the hotel room's TV. :)

My 'valid reason' is that my TV won't update to the new C5 catch up app, so we use the firestick.

When other things stop cropping up (so maybe never) that's going to be my end aim. To have all my movies and music stored on hard drives and connected to the network.
But it's not cheap. And it's time consuming. Plus there'll be mistakes made which will consume more time. It's a fun hobby but right now i don't have the time to put in to it. Or money.

Plus the NAS setup doesn't help when I want to watch a movie that I don't actually have. There's a few on Disney+ we've marked for watching that I don't have myself.

because they area great bit of kit, especially if you do not have a smart tv, for running netfix, prime video and third party streaming apps.

    No
C100 with the aerial is the Freeview information page
C100 on Sky says 'not available'

It's ok. I got what you were meaning :)

In the end my patience got the better of me. 4K stick should be arriving tomorrow. The only 'down'side seems to be FireOS 6 rather than 7. Beyond 6 being a lower number than 7 and therefore older (obviously) i don't actually know what this means in real-talk. I don't know what features are different.
