Correct me if i'm wrong (probably am) but Amazon TV (not even sure if that's the correct thing) and Prime Video are different?
Basically i use the Amazon FireStick for some things. For example right now i'm using it for Disney+ but oh my god how painfully slow it is. I have the FireStick and not the FireTV and my FireStick isn't the one with the microphone on the remote so i suppose it's a bit old, if that makes much of a difference to the situation.
My patience is struggling to deal with how slow this thing is. Takes forever to work through the menu system. The remote has been close to being bounced off the wall a number of times over the weekend.

Re the speed of operation - Maybe the memory is almost full
There is an app called" Background Apps Process & Lists" (or similar) which will show you all the Apps loaded in the background which could be clogging things up
Using the app you do have to manually step thru each one and kill it off
Unfortunately just powering it off/on doesn't clear that info - hence the need for tool of some sort

i run a couple of 4k firesticks in my house and they are really quick and responsive to use. i have tried setting up a couple of older sticks for friends and they do not perform the same. for streaming (especially outside of Netflix, Amazon Prime etc), the 4k stick is the one to go for. also remember to regularly clear the cache (not data) from each installed app via the firestick's settings menu - manage installed apps - to keep the stick running smoothly.
also uninstall any unused apps as these devices have a small amount of storage and fill up quickly and this will seriously impact on their performance level. run correctly, they are a superb piece of kit.0 -
The gen 1 Firestick was always a bit on the slow side. Try the suggestion above and clear out the cache to see how you get on, you might also try a factory reset but you will have to reload your apps and log in again. If all else fails the new Firesticks are much faster but you'd best waiting until they're on offer again as they're currently back to full price on Amazon.0

Amazon’s own website doesnt list any “Amazon TV” service just the Amazon Prime Video in which you can pay additional subscriptions for additional channels.JustAnotherSaver said:Correct me if i'm wrong (probably am) but Amazon TV (not even sure if that's the correct thing) and Prime Video are different?
Prime Video (and the unrelated Disney+) are available via a wide range of devices from built in smart TV apps to stand alone devices like the firestick and appleTV etc.1 -

Sounds like you have a G1 firestick. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Fire_TV#Models)I was using one on the conservatory TV until I decided to get the lite when it was last £20.It will be £20 soon again and well worth the upgrade. The 4K one is older but better (more ram but Fire OS 6 rather than 7) if you need it. The non lite version is just the same stick but with a remote than can control your TV and licenced for more surrond, so if you need that when on offer it's a fiver more.0 -

Keep up with maintenance on a FS as the ram memory is very limited. Go to settings, manage installed apps and clear the cache on ALL apps, and delete any apps you dont use. Then reboot.
Keep at least 2.5gb of storage space on it. Force stop all the apps you are not using>go to setting to preference and click on privacy setting and make sure those are turned off> then go to data notification and make sure that is off. Power cycle your device and router.
To keep a good amount of storage on your Firestick do the following:
From the home screen scroll to settings>display and sounds>screensaver>scroll down to start time and change it to never.
You can also try the HW setting.
You may also want to consider an hdmi extender. Sticks are so close to the tv that the tv can often interfere with the wifi performance. Another option is to look at an ethernet connector for the stick.

Just a quick heads up. Tesco are reducing prices on Amazon Fire Sticks, from tomorrow you'll be able to pick up the latest gen Fire Stick Lite for only £17.95 - https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/amazon-fire-tv-stick-lite-ps1795-at-tesco-3623380?page=2#thread-comments
The latest gen standard Firestick and 4K versions will also be reduced.1 -
Thanks. I'll have a look through and follow the advice given here to try and speed it up.I know they're infinitely more expensive but what's the deal with those Nvidia Shield's? I was on YouTube looking in to Plex and videos on the Nvidia Shield came up praising it.Anyway as far as the Fire Stick goes i went through my emails and found the one that i had bought...February 2017.

Yeah - that's the Gen 1. I have the Gen 2 version (with microphone) and that generally works OK.
That said, I followed JJ's post from 1pm yesterday and freed up almost 1GB of storage space on my stick.
PS - I also use Background Apps & Process List on my stick, plus I also use Dangbei Assistant ... both are good for helping kill unnecessary processes and freeing up RAM.0
