I just keep thinking of all the wonderful things we could have done with the money spent on debt last month.  I know we've already had things with the debt accrued but I can't remember what!

DH is feeling a bit miserable today so naturally I am too, we're not helping ourselves.
We're both very tired and emotionally exhausted and sometimes its hard to see light at the end of the tunnel.  Our roof is still leaking and I think we have now asked about 7 builders to look and none have turned up its incredibly frustrating,  DH has now had to say he will tackle it in the spring but that is another job for him and another winter of leaking.
There are so many jobs around the house and yard that need doing and some days they are too heavy a burden, I do feel very sorry for him.  DS knows a gardener and odd job man who we have asked for a quote to cut the trees back in the front garden, DH does this every year and it takes him a whole day, I saw him looking at them this morning with a heavy heart so asked for the quote to ease the strain for DH.
We are also going to try and get to sleep before 11/11.30 each evening to help with the tiredness because even an hour earlier adds up to a whole extra night sleep a week.

  • Do you have a local Facebook page you could ask for builder recommendations on? There must be somebody wanting extra work before Christmas? Leaking over winter might lead to more damage and expense ☹️
This time of year can get a bit miserable and miserable DH’s really spoil the atmosphere (I’d love to send mine outside to play right now) 😬

 ha ha ha yes that's so true!  they're like grumpy toddlers , he's a bit better now...for now...:)
We've asked on facebook, checkatrade, even stopped builders when we've been out and about, we had an electrician who recommend one, they have all said they will come and have made appointments then just don't turn up or answer their phones.  You'd definitely think they would want the money, that is exactly what DH says 'we are offering them money we don't want it for free, surely they need to pay for Christmas!'.

And another builder/roofer bites the dust.  Beginning to think it must be one of those horrible jobs for builders because no one wants to know.
Just finished the shopping hopefully that's it now till next shopping pay day, maybe some milk...
Oh I felt soooo bad I saw some white bread flour and quickly grabbed it, the lady behind said to her husband that she just needed bread flour, I had the last one, 😞 but I couldn't let her have it....

Have been unwell today with a headache didn't surface until 10.30 and am still fragile now.
I've been playing with figures again, I'm hoping I can make an overpayment this Sunday but I have to use these wages for Christmas.
Very good news home working starts tomorrow so I will save quite a bit doing that.
I will be working for my business tomorrow, I need to crank it up a but to earn some money for December but if it doesn't happen then I will just earn more in January.
I am still really enjoying the debt busting, keeping track of everything and having money budgeted.
I am really tired tonight so I will finish  and put my feet up, maybe do some crocheting.

  • I hope you feel better soon. December is a tricky month for debt busting, you are doing great.

    Thank you @WinterWarrior 😊
I'm helping DH muck out 2 stables this morning and then getting down to work.
I've put a piece of gammon in the slowcooker to be sliced by the machine tomorrow and used for one meal and then sandwiches, seems cheaper to do that than buy packet ham.
Have a loaf of bread in the breadmaker for dinner.
Weather here is very stormy but isn't raining at the minute although much colder.

I do that too @Its_time with gammon.  Definitely much cheaper than buying ham but also much tastier.  We make our own smoked bacon too using a loin of pork.  Haven't made any recently but definitely will be in the new year.

I wouldn't even have thought about that @joedenise how do you make smoked bacon?

Just a quick question we've had the renewal through for our house insurance in January if we put it on a monthly direct debt it is about £50 more, should I pay it outright or pay it monthly and put the money put aside for it towards other pots like Christmas pets etc. as they have not been budgeted for this year and only have a month of money in them? Wondered if it was best to keep the money and pay monthly? I'm not sure if I am happy doing this though.....
