If you do freeze them can you let me know if it works please? If it does then I may well make a batch to freeze so I can just get them out of the freezer and reheat in the microwave rather than having to wait 3/4 hour for my breakfast!8 -
@MazzieD There were about a dozen boxes of goodies this morning at my local small Lidl. I think the weather yesterday must have put customers off causing some waste, and there were masses of very similar items in each. I got 580g red grapes, 8 lemons, 3 bananas, 2 aubergines, 2large and 2 small red peppers, 2sm green peppers, 2 peaches, bunch of baby beetroot, 2 large and lots of small onions and loads of large King Edward spuds. I will now spend the rest of the day planning and processing all these items! I hope you have some luck at your local stores.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

The few times I've managed to get the boxes it's been around 9am or just after but they don't always have them when I go. I think might also vary by branch as my sister lives in a different area and her Lidl it's later about 9.30-9.45 so I think it's pretty much pot luck really!

You've done really well this week @Living_proof, wish I had a friend who could get items like that for peanuts!. Thanks for the tip about the weather, my plans to walk past every day haven't quite worked out as hoped. Got absolutely soaked this morning in a heavy shower and decided to head back home instead as I wasn't wearing a mac (sun was shining when I went out). My F&V box was only about half full yesterday and quite light compared to the previous one which was completely full.
@balabooberlies it's about 9.30am here but I've only seen boxes on Wednesdays and Thursdays but that probably varies as well.
Busy weekend ahead, eye hospital clinic tomorrow morning - hate the eye drops which can blur vision for hours but really good having it on Saturday as don't need to take time off work and Covid vaccination early Sunday morning. I'm prepared in case of side effects - I can tolerate anti-biotics, paracetamol, flu jabs and not much else so I'm being very positive and hoping for no reaction.
Just in case, Happy Mothers Day to all the mums, I don't have children and my Mum passed away years ago so I tend to hide and hibernate for the day!9 -
I think recently the boxes have been put out around 9am but I was later than this today. On Sunday there were a couple of boxes still there at the bigger store but they weren't too interesting and I didn't need anything in them. I did ask one of the staff and she said it depends on how many staff are in and whether anyone can be bothered to make them up. I live just 5-7 minutes drive from both branches, so it's easy for me to take a chance.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I only ever go to Lidl on a Tuesday or very occasionally a Thursday so no idea about other days. I don't go often as it's a 20 minute drive but that isn't much further than going to my local town which is about a 15 minute drive in the opposite direction.

I’ve never seen one, but to be honest I’ve not thought much of our L’dls fresh food. I much prefer the branch at my Mr’s So I always check in there but never seen a box yet. I would love to be able to get a Morrison’s one.Life happens, live it well.7

Deleted_User said:Hi frugal friends,
Just popping in to report a frugal win. As posted on my budget near the start of the thread, I pay for Sky TV and movies as our treat as I don't go out much, and have really enjoyed the movies in the past. Over recent weeks the quality of films has been terrible, with the same ones repeated numerous times a day, and I've hardly used it. I typed an email to Sky, explaining everything. Despite being in contract still they have agreed (after some to-in and fro-ing) to let me cancel! So that's £30pcm, or £360 a year saved! Absolutely thrilled! They want me to send the box back, and as our TV isn't a smart TV but we want to use Netflix and iplayer I need to source a free view box that has these apps on. If anyone has any suggestions in this regard I would appreciate it.
Final point, I've saved enough this past two months to pay the annual council tax bill in full. I know there are no longer discounts for doing this, but it is my most hated direct debit as it comes out over a week after all the other bills and is the second biggest. To know that on the 1st of the month all my bills are paid will be just great.I'd better get ready for work now, take care all xx
