Very good news - ANOTHER VCS ONE BITES THE DUST!
How close to the hearing deadline did they discontinue? There was the thread below recently, where the discontinuance was abut 48 hours before the hearing and the OP got costs for unreasonable conduct from a PPC.
Premier Park Ltd ordered to pay £500 in costs for unreasonable late discontinuance at Southampton County Court (includes all orders and judgment transcript following his application for a costs hearing: Premier Park v S Jones):https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6271727/residential-pcn-premier-park-ltd-ordered-to-pay-500-in-costs-at-southampton-county-courtThe letter to the Judge asking for costs is interesting; it was treated as an 'application' by the Court:The OP said:"The 05 Witness Statement is interesting and quotes a post from this forum. The statement by Mr Byers-Nolan was riddled with errors and inconsistencies, ignored the main points of the case and was delivered so late that the Judge ignored it. As he did with my skeleton argument…
You might think I would be steaming with anger with PP, BW Legal, DRP, Gladstones, CST Law, Zenith Collections et al, but no. If POPLA are going to boast on their website that they take “into consideration the relevant law, guidance and standards and the BPA Code of Practice.” they should do exactly that. Don’t employ someone with experience of “conflict resolution” and “problem solving” to decide on points of law. How about employing someone with a legal background to decide on legal matters?
The new Government CoP will hopefully remove POPLA from the equation."
The new (final) Government Consultation this Summer is something you must make sure you get your say in, given what you've been through.
REALLY IMPORTANT PLEASE:https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78411172/#Comment_78411172Please, please come back every week to check and make sure your voice - AND YOUR FRIENDS’ AND RELATIVES’ VOICES TOO - is/are not missed from this final opportunity to take part in the Government Consultation, coming very soon!PRIVATE 'PCN'? Interesting, I found the letter today after getting back from working away since Saturday. So roughly 2 weeks. I hadn't missed out on any work but I'll look into it. Thanks a lotCoupon-mad said:Very good news - ANOTHER VCS ONE BITES THE DUST!

Sure, I definitely will do that! After the amount of anxiety VCS caused. I don't like the idea of them targeting people more mentally vulnerable than myself.Coupon-mad said:OK and even if you don't try that, please do have your say when the final Government Consultation opens for a limited time (watch this space).
I also just want to say a massive thanks to everyone who added their advice on this thread. I don't think I could have got through this without you all
