Wouldn't it be more likely that the vehicle has been trader registered for a time period and this has been the main reason why the VED & MOT are out if sync. Having re read all the posts I think I'm correct as the vehicle appears to have been 1st registered 06/2018. The VED date will only change when the vehicle date is sold/sorn. The 1st MOT date would normally be static i.e. 06/2021 (unless the vehicle is SORN'd).
If you've read the entire thread, then you'll know that the OP bought the car used at the start of 2019, with a V5C in their name issued 5/2/19.

So the trader may well have supplied the car with a year's tax purchased in late January 19, expiring at the end of June or December 19, but somebody must have retaxed it since then, because the current tax expires at the end of Dec 20...

Yes, the first MOT is due on the third anniversary of the first reg date, June 2021. Whether it's been SORNed or not.

  • Did you try the website posted earlier? That tells you if the vehicle is currently taxed, and until when.

  • Then you'll have to pay it when the tax is due. Not sure why you thought you wouldn't have to. 🤦‍♂️

Yes, of course you'll have to pay it.
Taxing your car is an essential part of car ownership.
  • This is one of these threads where you shake your head in disbelief.

I'm not paying it for you!  Who did you think would have to pay it?
