    So as I said earlier, purchased and taxed in January 2019 so tax due 1 Jan 20 and now 1 Jan 21.  Someone must have taxed it last year.

    If it wasn't taxed currently, there wouldn't have been a V11 renewal reminder sent, because it wouldn't be about to expire...

    Did the dealer tell you it would be taxed when you bought it BUT only taxed it for 6 months to keep the purchase price down ? not a huge saving if true.

    Umm, if the dealer had taxed it for six months on purchase, then that tax would have expired in June 2019...

    Wouldn't it be more likely that the vehicle has been trader registered for a time period and this has been the main reason why the VED & MOT are out if sync. Having re read all the posts I think I'm correct as the vehicle appears to have been 1st registered 06/2018. The VED date will only change when the vehicle date is sold/sorn. The 1st MOT date would normally be static i.e. 06/2021 (unless the vehicle is SORN'd).
