Wrong region on Galaxy Watch 3. Right to return for refund?

Bought a Galaxy Watch 3 in the Black Friday sale. Cheaper than some other sites by quite a way. You know that too good to be true saying?
Yeah!
Got it today, fired it up and it's region settings are over in the far east. Hong Kong and some other regions I can select but not the UK.

From reading in to this, this is likely to mean there's features I can't use on the phone which at this price I want to be able to use every feature on there.

I bought a Galaxy Watch and got one but as I live in the UK I was wanting one with the UK region so do I have a right to return for refund?

If it makes a difference then i paid via credit card. Amex.

  • Where did you buy it from? If they didn’t state ‘hey this is the U.K. version from us, a U.K. seller!’ Then it sounds like you got what you paid for...

That's the important question. It wasn't Aliexpress, was it?

Did a search on them before buying. I forget the review site i looked at. Might've been trustpilot i think. Feedback seemed to come back positive which is why i went ahead.

Their returns suggests i can return it no problem. I wonder if they'll entertain that. I'll email them and try.

I've had a look online and you appear to be able to change the region on the watch but it's a right faff about. I've just tried to make a start but as i download the big 1.5GB file, the stock firmware, the zip file wont even open so that's that idea dead before it starts. I don't know where to get reliable files from.

I *THINK* the only things that wont work for me with it being in the wrong region are Samsung Pay and the ECG function if they ever get that approved. So most of the watch will still work but really i'd prefer all of the watch to work.

Did you buy it after the 27th? The review on the site mentions pay not working.

You want all the features  yet acknowledge it was cheaper by quite a way.  Might the two things are connected?
  • 25th November is when I bought it.
After more reading it seems you can get from these Eastern countries dirt cheap (maybe not literally dirt cheap but much cheaper) the trade off being you lose Samsung Pay and ECG reading, blood pressure I think and I'm not sure what if anything else.

It seems that it's possible to change the region on the watch to make it the region of any country you like but the one and only YouTube video I see in English on the topic, the firmware file for download in zip format doesn't open in either winrar or 7zip.

Ive tried searching for another firmware file but there's various ones it seems, even of the same model my watch is and I read you MUST use the correct one and god knows which that one is.

I'd rather flash it and have a fully functional watch but I can't the file to do so. I've emailed the company about returning for refund as their policy seems to suggest I can just return it fine no problem. It doesn't specify that it HAS to be faulty for a return. Shall see what they say

There are many warnings on here about buying from chinese companies who may or may not accept refunds despite what is said on their site, as a member of many years you must have known you were taking a risk to save a few pounds

That should have been the obvious clue that the goods were coming from the Far East and would likely be regionalised for there.

    It actually says

"1.Techinthebasket are a local team, but our company is registered abroad, and we source products globally in order to provide the best offers and brand new products for our customers. We offer UK version/ international version of products that both can be used in UK."

And they have a whole bunch of other stuff about negative reviews on their own website.

Even if they agree to a return I'd be really wary about sending it back as the refund might not happen.
