What do you need in a dishwasher

I'm going to argue (if its a thing) that a malfunction has occurred would be a good use of wifi notification, especially if there's a chance of there being more water on the kitchen room floor than there is in the dishwasher at the time when you get home, not that you can do anything about it, although it might be one of those self defeating notifications. The other option could be "you've put 6 dishwasher tablets in me, the pack only has 10 tablets, you might want to buy some more" type notifications, but realistically you should have noticed you were nearly out before the unit tells you. A website I've found suggests programme updates and new cleaning cycles may be a possibility, but again if its totally burnt on it ain't coming off no matter how much hot water and detergent you throw at it.0

The programme thing, which several people have helpfully commented on, is really something I am not sure of, let alone the ability to add more in the future. I cannot remember having a machine that had more than 3 programmes - heavy, normal and rinse whereas these models all have 10+ and thats before you add the optional extra features on each like extra dry, extra rinse, intense bottom shelf etc.
I’ve not focused on that too much because the only difference between the three models is that the “extra quiet” on the top tier model is 38db whereas the lower models is 40db and the top one also has the “pasta” programme (washing off starchy food rather than cooking pasta I’m assuming) but really not sure if it makes a difference or is snakeoil.0 -

Check the sizes of what can be put in, gaps between shelves can vary a lot and a lot large plates won't fit with larger items like pt glasses on top shelf.
Ended up with a Beko.
It came with a foam strip that is installed around the bottom to seal with the floor reduces noise a lot.
Choice of tablets make a big difference on the cooler eco) washes.
Fairy platinum deals with tea stains better than cheaper options.
Same with previous one we had.
Read the manuals before making final decision.
Integrated version.

Our 2.5 year old Bosch has the red light too, a far more useful feature than WiFi connectivity (utterly pointless IMO), an internal light and a plethora of programmes (we've literally only used one the whole time we've owned the dishwasher).
One my gripes is our current dishwasher takes hours on its standard programme so if I come in from work and the Mrs is out but shes put all the trays in the dishwasher and its is going I have no idea if there is 10 minutes left or 2 hours. Obviously if its the former just let it do its thing and take them out after; if the former then interrupt the programme and wash by hand or use it as an excuse to get a takeaway.
Obviously first world problems but not sure how a red dot alone helps? Those that project the time left until its finished are useful and would be a viable alternative solution to the wifi.0 -

We have an integrated Neff. No WiFi, plenty of programs and we like the cutlery tray. Door opens when finished. We put it on at night and in the morning everything is dry. It shows the time remaining on the floor below the door - very please with it.0

If you have had a spoon stuck in the bottom I would do an internal service.
Take off both arms and check they are clear also the seal that the upper basket sits in at the back is not damaged
and obviously take the bottom filter out and give a good clean.
Run a hot wash or clean cycle if you have one.
The rear upper basket seal was a problem on my old dishwasher a £3 fix every couple of years.
Unless you have a lot of stuff you tend to want to be able to get the stuff in all at once, adjustable shelves don't help if you have big plates and big glasses at the same time..
The upper cutlery tray takes other flat stuff as well as the cutlery, frees up a lot of space on the bottom.
My Beko(DFN28R22) has a program time display on the front
I end up using the 58min 60deg with the dry option most of the time.
What tabs are you using?0 -
The more stuff (gadgets) it comes with is just more stuff you wont use and more to go wrong imo1

It wasnt stuck “stuck” was just it’d fallen out the basket into the filter and so the top was sticking up out the hole and was just long enough to stop the arm spinning.
We currently use some Finish Power Ball variant, think its the all in one max but for reasons unknown to me they get put in a pot under the sink out of their packaging so not sure0 -
Get some of the free Fairy platinum /plus and try them if never used them before.
I was a find tabs cheap(~5p) person(Lidl, Aldi...) and gone off finish since I found some ~10p fairy ones.
Still check your arms and filter.0
