nadsat said:Our Octopus tracker rate has gone up a lot - today, electricity now 14.82p and gas 3.26p, and this is pretty much now the same as their regular tariffs. Of course the wholesale rates have gone up during times of peak demand I suppose. Had a good run in the summer and half of autumn at least.Of course the thing to remember is that when the prices fall they are passed on automatically(even a variable rate tariff can gake months to lower prices). I'm on agile for electric and tracker for gas. When its largely still and cold the prices are on average more than fixed or normal variable rate, but often a few days later they are cheaper again.I purchased an app which shows me the rates and compare them to the variable rate. It's showing for last 5 days I'm 4% better off but for last 24 days I'm 4% worse off. I am wondering about going back to tracker for electric though, as the 4-7pm rates are around double the variable rates, and I don't have an EV or similar (the only load shifting I do is when to do washing and use oven).0

I also had a new Chameleon IHD6 which replaced my IHD3
I also had a £25 bonus for switching and free electricity on Christmas day (from 8am to 12pm) to cook my Christmas Dinner.
Like you I am impressed with the service I have received so far.1 -

Very unhappy with Shell, even more unhappy with MSE as well as kicking myself for being tempted away from Octopus.1 -
Thanks for the replies all. In the end i ended up going with Octopus. They weren't the cheapest HOWEVER, they had no penalties for changing tarrifs, and some users mentioned that they did this hassle-free too. Their customer service also seems decent, and after a long (and painful) run with e.On, that's not a mistake i want to make again.
Thank you everyone for your help and comments.1 -
Forgot to add that i also got a £20 voucher as a referral, so i can't complain.0
