Is Octopus the best?

OVO and E.ON did nothing to help.
EDIT: I have a £25 reward for joining !
OVO is still showing on gas on my IHD for some reason ?
Maybe it takes longer to update ?
As long as my meters work, that's the main thing !
When everything is working I will move to their Agile tariff where you get charged according to the time of day.0 -

[Deleted User] said:It may not be a good time to switch to Agile as daytime prices have risen quite a lot since the lows of summer. It is still competitive but not as competitive as it once was. A lot of Agilers have switched back to Octopus Go/Go Faster whilst they see how prices move.0

I switched to Octopus at the end of October and so far they've proved to be 100% more efficient than my previous energy provider (E.ON). For one thing, they actually respond to my messages and don't ignore me completely, like E.ON did.
I was also rewarded at that time by a £100 welcome because I accepted a friend's referral and they also received the same. A great start and a great help. Octopus don't charge for early exits, either. Not like E.ON. I had to wait before I could rush away from them. Never again.
I'm looking forward to not being messed about by my energy supplier, time will tell whether or not I'm just dreaming! Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I am in the process of moving from Octopus to Shell. Shell have been a total nightmare and I'm beginning to wish I'd stayed put. Octopus are not the cheapest (hence the reason I was tempted into moving supplier) but they are certainly very efficient. Lesson learnt. Sometimes you get what you pay for.1

Received this message a couple of days ago..."In many ways, 2020 has been a year to forget.
But we think you deserve a thank you.
This year, you’ve been part of an unprecedented global shift to renewable energy. I’ve included a few epic stats for you at the bottom of this email.
To say thanks, we’re offering Octopus customers with an eligible smart meter 4 hours free 100% renewable electricity to cook your turkey on Christmas Day, or just to celebrate — in whatever way you see fit."Sure, this is a small thing to do, but they didn't have to do anything at all and it is typical of the kind of 'outside the box' thinking that goes on all the time with this company.I'm certainly not planning to leave any time soon.

Our Octopus tracker rate has gone up a lot - today, electricity now 14.82p and gas 3.26p, and this is pretty much now the same as their regular tariffs. Of course the wholesale rates have gone up during times of peak demand I suppose. Had a good run in the summer and half of autumn at least.2
