IamMD said:Update.... Octopus have found a cheaper tariff. You should be finding the cheapest tariff(s) by comparing all suppliers: Octopus will only compare their own offerings.Did you compare using Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?' and did you also compare the dual fuel total annual cost with adding up the cheapest gas-only and electricity-only suppliers? What are your new kWh and daily charges, inc VAT?1

Yes, I appreciate that but I'm certainly not criticising her. I've only asked whether she has followed the optimum route and what the results were so that, if necessary, forumites can advise how the situation can be improved even further. She may still be on a relatively expensive dual fuel tariff when a much better result may be available from separate suppliers. As we both agree, that's often a better solution !0

Before I left Eon, I used switch. I’m getting there and very grateful to everyone on here 🤗0

Update. Other than the display unit (IHD think they’re called) showing wrong price tariff, Octopus are correcting for me. As for Eon, my account showed after all the above and paid up till end of day closing 00.00 when Octopus took over, sorted. Even got through to Eon, double check and about closing my account. Told that a email will be sent to me with info.... er NO. Got a bill for £307.07, as I owe Eon this amount from September?? Finally this week got through to Eon asking how can this be? Why wasn’t it mentioned on the final bill etc. Surely Eon would have said this earlier?? I have to pay now over the next 4 months, even Eon engineer called yesterday (with ID) to take gas reading from meter. Eon still apply me for gas he said. Showed me on his tablet. Rang Octopus straight away in front of the man. He explained he needed gas reading. They confirmed they supply me. He took the reading and went. (He’s been before taking readings so not a con man). My head hurts. Best I get a appointment with CAB for advice. Thanks again everyone. Merry Christmas n Keep safe

The electricity side of things is working but the tariff side on the gas side doesn't work because when OVO installers installed my gas meter last July, they didn't update the relevant parties with my gas meter details.
This means that Octopus's data collectors can't pull the readings remotely but Octopus are on the case and I had an email off them the other day saying they will let me know when they have sorted it with their smart meter team so that the gas meter records are updated and I will no longer need to give my own meter readings.
I only commented on your thread as you are in a similar situation to me in that your energy usage is displayed on your IHD but on old tariffs not your current energy supplier.0 -
