The Bad News: You've made a lot of mistakes.
The Good News:  Should be quite easy to sort things out for the future.
    • You haven't been paying your way for quite a while, your DD isn't putting enough into the kitty and so a massive debt has built up.
    • You have chosen a massively expensive gas tariff, 3.11745p/kWh.  I'm paying 2.0265p per kWh so your kWh are costing you 54% more.
    • Your gas usage is a little higher than the average but nothing to worry about.  However, your electricity usage is almost twice the average and your rate isn't very competitive.  Make sure the immersion heaters are always left switched off, and don't use any instantaneous electric showers, fan heaters, panel heaters, oil filled radiators etc.
    The solution
    • Pay off everything you owe E.On then switch to competitive tariffs with other suppliers.
    • If you can't afford to pay in one go, ask for a payment plan, but try to pay it off as fast as you can.  In the meantime, switch to E.On's cheapest tariffs.  If these have exit fees, I believe you can avoid them by switching to the variable rate tariff before you leave, but check this carefully.
    • Start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.  Separate suppliers are usually cheaper.  Get quotations for both Economy 7 and single rate (which is what you have at the moment with your two-rate meter).  To get single rate quotations, just tell the comparison sites that you don't have an E7 meter.
    • Ignore all projects and claims about savings.  They're imaginary thanks to Ofgem's daft rules.  Just compare total annual costs based on your actual annual kWh usage.
    • Keep a close watch to make sure you're not building up a debt, typically shown by warning signs such 'Account Balance £500' or whatever.  If your account balance is more than a couple of hundred pounds (especially in late summer) then increase your DD payments or make a top up payment.
Good luck, and don't forget to come back and tell us how it went.

The answer to "Eon, have I paid too much?" is in the question - you're with Eon so obviously "yes". As @Gerry1 says, pay up and switch.

Now that you've made a catch up payment life will get a little easier.
But that £81 is never going to be enough - you energy use is high and with that goes cost.
Your fix ended on Nov 29th  - what action did you take ?  Have you taken the v38  ?   If you've done nothing you will be on a standard tariff and you will rapidly get into debt again.

Although you are on Smart - read those meters and do monthly sums . Eon only bills 3  monthly and by the time you get a bill there can be big sums involved.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • My advice: delete all those bills from this site. It is not a good idea posting your name; address; supply and account numbers on a public website. With the information posted, I could, with ease, switch your supply to my supplier and earn £50 for doing so.

Will do now the gentleman has seen them. I’m not very good at doing things (brain damage from an accident). Thank you to everyone for your advice. Now with Octopus. So hopefully smart meters, led lights fitted and other stuff done, my bills will be less. Any problems I will put on here for advice/help. Thank you again Kay (hopefully no one has pinched my information)

    What's your new DD ?

Just keep putting those readings into Octopus - put a date in the diary.
One advantage of Octopus is every time you put in a reading you get a new statement.  Download load it and read it.

If an Octopus customer has a smart meter, then Kraken (Octopus' billing system) will not generate a statement on demand. I have been asking Octopus to re-instate this facility for their smart meter customers for nearly 18 months. It is also worth noting that Octopus retrieves smart meter via a third-party (TMA/CGI). Occasionally, there is a data loss which can be seen in My Account. Whilst this is more of an issue for those of us on ToU tariffs, this loss of data can result in a billing statement failure. For example, I am missing electricity data for the 12th November which stalled my statement due on the 28th. An email to smart@octopus.energy usually resolves the issue.

Just had an email from Octopus. The display unit will be up and running today WiFi to the smart meters, so I can read information about electric/gas. Been put on the priority list, been disabled. Taken note of the diary and email. Thank you again

Update.... Octopus have found a cheaper tariff. The display unit is on and communicating to smart meters. Open saved file for emails. Diary for meter readings/notes/names from Octopus (sisters idea last one). Have discussed about selling house (can pay back family). Updates later. Thanks again everyone. Keep safe. Merry Christmas
