Hello pollyanna -thaks for dropping by and posting!
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!5 -
Thank you pollyanna. Yesterday was again mainly food prep and using up. So far I have one portion of bacon soup (both had several meals out of it), celery, leeks and mushrooms in a white savoury sauce (to go with pasta or in tiny pasties), tiny carrots for crudites (to be followed by celery, cucumber, broccoli and cauli), all the past their best potatoes were turned into mash (mum asked if she could have some to include in her main meal), apples and more celery became waldorf salad (keeping back the walnuts until just before eating), baking apples cored, peeled and cooked (awaiting their oaty crumble topping), pigs in blankets (ate 4 as a main meal yesterday, the others are wrapped in foil and will be frozen until they are included in a buffet), quartered mushrooms to be garlicked but may mix the butter and garlic and then divide into portions until required, mushrooms in red wine (2 portions frozen), turkey crown has been defrosting in the fridge and a few more things part done.
Every time I stood up, mum thought of a job I could do so some of the things I intended to do were postponed (laptop ran down twice as I was going to plug in for recharging). Watched Casablanca and a few quiz shows whilst chopping and keeping an eye on whatever was simmering. Today will be more of the same (anything that gets rubbish out of the house and makes more space - or converts basic ingredients into cooked dishes that take up less space). Plus shower screen (did everything else after my shower), decorating the mantle piece and around three o'clock putting my good clothes on, lighting the candles and settling in (I could live happily surrounded by candles and books).
So much to be grateful for - window cleaner has been (missed last time and due again tomorrow so it had been added to my list of twixmas jobs), we have food in the house and some on order and whatever turns up I will be able to feed us, for having some contact with my sons through messaging and photo posts of my grandpuppy and all the new toys his mummy has made knitted him during lockdown, for most of our health worries being minor (though there is one that I must take action on), for partial success in growing my own veg (as mum grudgingly conceded one tiny space at a time, pulled up some of the carrots and parsnips when they were tiny and threw away the peppers because they were 'going wrinkly' - no mum they start off wrinkly and swell and fill out as they grow), for books, music, candles and fairy lights, for basic first aid knowledge acquired from looking after 3 boys (my bandaging is quite good), for feeling peaceful and tranquil even though not everything is 'done', for all you lovely turtles.
Wishing you all peace and joy (however you get there), hoping that those of you with children manage a few hours sleep and that you all take time to care for yourself, be mindful of your own needs and to take time out to just be (especially if things get a bit too much)

Thursday 24th December
Today I asked my body what she needed
Which is a big deal
Considering my journey of
Not Really Asking That Much
I thought she might need more water
Or protein
Or greens
Or yoga
Or supplements
Or movement
But as I stood in the shower
Reflecting on her stretch marks
Her roundness where I would like flatness
Her softness where I would like firmness
All those conditioned wishes
That form a bundle of
Not-Quite-Right-Ness
She whispered very gently
"Could you just love me like this?" Hollie Holden
(a much more poetic version of my 'acceptance' bit the other day)
I have more I wanted to say but mum keeps calling me away and I now have squashed carrots on my dress and one of the sheets. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage4 -
