Evening all
NSD number 13 here. Just chugging away at work. People annoyed me this morning so I ended up having cake for breakfasthad soup for lunch so hopefully have achieved some kind of balance! Was blooming nice cake though.
One more day of work left then something like 10 days off, haven't had this much time off all year so it'll be nice, even though we're stuck at home.
Collecting the Xmas Dinner tomorrow lunchtime, am praying it's all there and no random substitutions, but we'll get by regardless. At least we have cake!7 -
Today I am grateful for being able to have a super lazy day, for a chat with my neighbour, for good strong coffee, for Puss in Boots, for a good workout.

Yesterday was NSD No 16. Think I've fixed the tablet for the time being.
Not a lot to report. The Boy is coming later to take me to do a doorstop present drop and collect some things that he needs (eg toilet rolls) to save him the madness of the supermarkets. I'm so glad I started buying things like that in bulk. Even though the original reason was so that Himself wasn't having to carry heavy, bulky items.
That seems to be our local primary school finished for the Christmas break now. I thought it was tomorrow. I have no idea now when they are going back.
Well. just finishing a coffee and then I'll get myself organised.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5 -
Today we are The Birthday House, smallest foxcub delighted with his haul, I baked one cake last night and one this morning before he got up, so I can make '11' with the new ys 50p cake tin made the buttercream filling last night so that is all chilled in the fridge, just need to make a coffee icing and I am done! For some unknown and unexplainable reason I covered dried plums (prunes) in chocolate at 7am.Keeps me out of trouble. I think I am sorted now for Xmas. If I haven't got it, then so what?Got something to roast on the day itself, and then I think I might go onto baked potatoes and salads and pickles and ________ mode for a while. I managed to lose 2 stone this year, so I might as well continue - I mean if I can lose 2 stone this year with all the restrictions, I can lose the last 2 stone in 2021.Don't want to go into any shops unless strictly necessary as they are full of nutters (apologies to non-shopping Turtle nutters)House 3/4 clean, tidied and hoovered so far today, will continue after my lovely cup of tea, and a quick squizz at the tv page in case there are any good films on.
to all stressing turtles, if things don't work out, or you have to go a bit off piste, then just remember, every tradition had to start somewhere, you might invent a new best-thing-ever idea this year - I have a friend who told me she cant remember how it came about but they have a family tradition of eating crispy duck pancakes for breakfast on Xmas Day. How utterly random is that? But why the heck not? your house, your rules, go for it. If not this year, then when? Please yourselves first. But honestly, the shops really are full of nutters convinced that food is being outlawed from midnight tomorrow.

Today's game's a bogey. £42 on trainers before I even stepped out of bed. In my defence, they were on sale, I did use t0p£back, my current trainers are starting to come apart, and I haven't spent anything on clothes or shoes for myself in the last nine months, apart from a 'thank you NHS' t-shirt and some socks.
OH is currently out buying 'some' groceries - he's been away for the best part of 2 hours! I dread to think of what 'wee extras' he's going to come back with. Fairly confident that I could bet my house that he will not come back with just the things on the shopping list! Send me frugal vibes turtles please...NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸4 -
"The game's a bogey"! That took me back to my west of Scotland roots and gave me a good laugh. Unfortunately, I think the game's a bogey generally at the moment.
But NSD No 17.
The Boy and I took the pressies to my lovely cousin (doorstep contact only!). She is such a star. She's made rocky road, all wrapped up and festive (honestly it's so gorgeous she could sell it) to give to anyone who comes to the door. Postman, milkman, delivery drivers, etc, etc, etc. She is such a good and kind person. But when I saw her I realised I haven't seen her this year. That really brought home what dire circumstances we are in. But we go on because we can't do anything else and I shall take a leaf out of her book and try for some random acts of kindness.
Pork chops for tea. Looking forward to that.

Anyone wishing to run January? I'm more than happy to set one up, but don't want to take over if someone has a spiffing ideaNST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!3

mothernerd. I've never joined the challenges here. Think I 've only made a couple of comments. My intention was to join in when life was less full on with constant appts etc. However as things settled along came the Virus ,a number of laptop failures and my own thread falling by the wayside. It was best to take dd to her bf in March after the call from Superdoc. I'm thankful his NHS role has been wfh since March.I've followed the turtles on and off over recent years. Lots of good support, advice and ideas. This month has been really helpful for those of us who are able to protect the vulnerable in our lives by not breaking our routine and adding in a Christmas visit.Warm wishes to you and your mum, the rest of the family and to all who post here too.polly- Who can't get the bold to go away! xIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.4 -

Having a chilled out afternoon and evening.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20134 -
Wednesday- still NSD 12- only spent a couple of pounds on rolls for bacon rolls tomorrow morning, and I now have no reason to spend any money until at least Sunday! Will see if I can actually stick to that 😁.
Been for a walk in our local woods and a walk in the local national trust place so the dog is sleeping and DD has had plenty of fresh air to keep her going!
Need to blitz clean the kitchen and sitting room tonight once DD has gone to bed, then tomorrow is dog walk and chill!4
