Think this is broadly good news.   It's going to scupper those that claim benefits and spend all day "working" on ebay and not paying any tax.   No more hiding your income on PayPal.

Am I correct in thinking that you get paid more with 'Max £1 eBay Selling Fees' promotion while on Managed Payments compared to PayPal?
Becuz with PayPal you still have to pay the PayPal fees + 1£ eBay fee while on Managed Payments it should be only £1 in fees. Unless I'm missing something..
I’ve just sold my first item on Managed Payments (as a private seller) - item listed at £43.99 during £1 promo, just received £42.99 into my bank account 😀

That seems a good proof of the fact that only the £1 is taken which means managed payments will be better for private sellers using the promos.
    Thank you for updating.

Yes I'm also on managed payments and during FVF £1 or less gets taken. Two cycles now 😊

Yes same here, just had payment confirmation of the items sold over the £1 FVF weekend, just £1 taken per sale. My managed payments account was the only one to get the offer so maybe ebay are prioritising these.
  • How do you actually set up 'managed payments' from within eBay?  I've logged into my account and been all over the place and can find nowhere to actually make the change? I also received a scam email about 'Payments are Changing' that didn't include my name but wanted me to use a link to enter all sorts of personal details; I don't trust it.

I seem to remember thinking it was a scam email but it's not. You need this email to link to managed payments. Don't worry there will be reminders and possibly one in messages.

That was the original message, but as steviebabes says you will get final reminders. You need to supply the bank info they want and they will switch you over in their own time.

I read through Ebay T&Cs last night after seeing my invitation and annoyingly it seems they will now take a percentage of any cash on collection payments too! (which of course Paypal didn't do)
I don't mind FVFs but I think its a bit rich to take a share of cash payments on top.

As has been suggested many times before maybe Ebay is not the place for collection only sales.
