Retiree declined Barclaycard Rewards card

This is a bit different than the two cards we are discussing here (two different accounts showing on the credit agencies, two different statements, etc). The Barclaycard Cashback duo (Amex plus Visa) was a single account with two cards, were the Amex version had a different earning rate (better) and the Visa was simply a back up for when the Amex was not accepted. There were several such Card accounts out there (MBNA’s Airlines Cards, Lloyds Avios, etc) which were all discontinued when Amex withdrew from networks agreement with those issuers). The legacy cards that people with the account were allowed to retain (Barclaycard Cashback Visa, MBNA Horizon Visa, Lloyds Cashback MasterCard) are some of the better earning non Amex cashback cards out there but not open to new applicants).TOP_CAT said:At one point barclaycard said you had to have two cards ( one was a new barclaycard amex) .
So even if you didnt want another barclaycard amex you got it anyway along with a bung of £50 or more for complaining .
Both cards spending was on the same statement with 1% and 2% cashback on each .
The 2% on the amex was for 6mths (perhaps it was a year this was awhile ago so is vague) but the amex 2% barclaycard saved a few pounds.
A few years later they phased the amex out
back to the guy enquiring, as stated, you can do a product swap to get the Rewards card if you already have a Barclaycard )0 -
So that will be a additional card. Not 2 seperate accounts.TOP_CAT said:At one point barclaycard said you had to have two cards ( one was a new barclaycard amex) .
