Problems with E-ON

Maybe they are confused. You should be able to have an online account, but certain tariffs require paperless billing I believe. Yours probably isn't if it's an expensive one.1

Online people telling me one thing and an Official E.ON Representative on here something else. I feel the online people simply want to get rid of you so tell you to close the online account down.0 -

As you can see I've only highlighted one part of your reply and that is where you say I can change my preferences online. Other agents from E.ON tell me differently. I am now being told that as long as I keep my online account, "MY ONLY OPTION IS PAPERLESS" and if I wanted bills through the post, I had to close my online account. (E.ON message below)
For me this is the whole problem with E.ON everybody tells you different things and I personally feel I'm being conned into going paperless against my wishes.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Message from E.ON staff: "I've tried a account reset to allow you to do this. If it does not work if you want paper bills then we can look to cancel the online account to allow you to have them. ^Hayden"
You definitely CAN keep the online account whilst still receiving bills through the post. I'll include some steps below;
- Login as you usually would. It's probably easier to use a PC/Laptop/Tablet but will also work on your phone (just not in the app)
- Click 'Change your details'. It may be one of the main 'tiles' on the login screen. If it's not there then click 'My account' from the top banner and you should find it.
- Click the 'Marketing and communications' box
- You should then see a box 'Paperless - help the environment' and you can untick this
Hope that helps, Matt
Update 10:28 - When I wrote the above reply this thread was on Page 2. I've now seen you've been able to locate the above but it won't let you untick the 'Paperless' box? Could you try through another browser/device if possible?“Official Company Representative

I think there are two issues here:
- You need a physical utility bill for some reason. Please can you explain what you need this for and we'll see if we can find an appropriate workaround. You shouldn't need to pay extra for the privilege of proving your address or identity;
- You are paying a massively inflated price for your utilities because you are on the E.ON standard variable rate. You are wasting hundreds of pounds every year because of this. Follow the advice above and switch. If you really don't want separate suppliers then you can still save a great deal by taking a dual fuel deal. If you want more help with this then please see if you can find meter readings from around a year ago and again from today so we can do an accurate comparison. Otherwise, Shell and Zog are recommended to be among the cheapest.

Hi FiestaRed. My apologies I've had this thread open for a while this morning intending to reply and didn't see your posts about having already tried this when I replied earlier. Lesson learnt to refresh before I post!
I've double checked this function with a colleague just now and it's definitely working on theirs. I'm sorry to have to clarify this but just need to cover all bases .. but you're definitely clicking 'Confirm' after unticking the box?
I do really want to get this sorted for you. So please email me using the address in my profile page, please include your account details, name and date of birth we'll take a look.
Thanks, Matt

Lets cut to the chase here,EON cant or wont sort this out,their probably not great prices anyway.
Simple solution,as others advised previously,do comparisons,double check figures then switch to somewhere that can provide paper billing.
Problem solved.2 -
