runner2001 said:I have never Removed or installed the Television my husband is not also very good with such things hence we used a engineer, we do not want to take any further risks or damage so would rather it was done professionally considering the experience we have had to date from Hughes. It is indeed such a shame that the fault developed as it was such a nice Television I am not blaming Hughes, Just that their response to date has been rather careless and inappropriate hence me posting here today, I was at my wits end.1

Hughes is likely insisting on the 'original' box in an attempt to avoid the customer wrapping the TV in a bit of parcel paper. They should be saying the OP requires a suitable box rather than the original.
The regs jut say:
the consumer has a duty to make the goods available for collection by the trader or (if there is an agreement for the consumer to return rejected goods) to return them as agreed.
Is requesting sufficient packaging for that collection reasonable? It appears reasonable (to me) that a courier can't take the TV without a suitable box.
Bit late now but the best thing to do is keep the boxes for 6 months, if your living room is big enough for a 75 inch TV your home should be big enough to stick the box somewhere. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -
I'm not sure I'd want to be manoeuvreing and lifting a 75" TV of a wall mount myself. That's bigger than our internal doors - and more fragile and probably heavier.(That's a BIG TV... )2

I think some people may be over-estimating the ability of two people they've never met to lift a 75" TV they've never seen off a wall-mount at an unknown height.

Its actually an offence to try and remove or revoke your rights. Just LBA them and copy in your credit card provider.0

A 75" flat screen TV can easily weigh 35+kg and if you have to lift and possibly manoeuvre it off a wall mount, it may not be as easy as some people think.0 -
their HQ just contacted me after I was told to send them a Letter before claim by which legal I joined yesterday, they have now offered to repair the TV i have rejected this as its unreliable, they said they will replace the set, which i was told to reject and ask for a full refund.
They are now looking to collect the Set after Covid lockdown, and will arrange their own packaging, but have asked me if I will buy another set from them so they can collect and return same date, I have been told to reject as they need to collect this and refund in full as it was faulty and within 30 days.
I have offered to buy another set from them but been asked for a reduction for the goodwill gesture, if I do buy another.
So far they have not come back further, but all the advice here to reject was correct, thank you everyone who advised this as anything under 30 days which develops a fault, is not fit for purpose especially when you spend over £1000 for a TV.
It is disgraceful that the Consumer is being let down, but I guess money is hard and everyone is trying it on, but please dont despair, I will say the advices given on this Forum were amazing and gave me the Heart to go further - THANK YOU ALL OF YOU
