I'd suggest changing the date to after your 12 months, otherwise they will more than likely charge you as their terms say MSE customers that cancel outside the 12 months won't have a cease charge applied.harrys66 said:hi, my 12 month contract is up on the 20th dec.... does any one know answer to the following question please...If I move to another provider a week before so that the move takes place a few days after the 20th (so I wont be charged the £15 fee), but will I then be charged for the full month upto the 20th jan?If yes, then I'll can delay the move three weeks before 20th jan? Thanks
thanks, do you think they will charge a full month after 20th or just for the days after the 20th till my transfer day?
If you've switched to another provider except Virgin media then Shell should only charge upto the transfer date.perfect, thanks, I'll switch around the 13th, it always takes more than a week to transfer.I would have rang them to ask them to match any offer, but then at end i would have got done for the £15 charge, even for transfers out0 -

In fact - if it is of any use - all the different T & C versions are here:

January 5th is the day my contract ends with Shell Broadband. My Negotiating attempt was not so fruitful, so have arranged a switch which will take place on the 6th Jan.
Received email from Shell, that informs me there will be no exit charges but must pay a "Cease Charge" of £15
I find this to be unethical and leaves me with a nasty taste in my mouth. What does MSE think?0 -
It is/was in the T&C's you read and agreed to? https://www.shellenergy.co.uk/info/broadband/pricing
Previous similar: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6210881/shell-energy-broadband-cancellation-fee
Suggest you complain and state that they are 'at fault' for not being cheap enough so the charge should not apply

The terms refer to it as a "cease" which can be seen to be misleading, as the term in the industry means terminating the line rather than "switching".Rodders53 said:It is/was in the T&C's you read and agreed to? https://www.shellenergy.co.uk/info/broadband/pricing

The fee doesn't apply to customers that signed up via a MSE offer0 -
That's shell for you just trying to get the last few pounds. But if you signed up via a MSE offer then it doesn't apply. However, I would argue to them you are "switching" not "ceasing" so it shouldn't apply and if they still think it does then their terms and conditions are misleadingkiwimatt said:January 5th is the day my contract ends with Shell Broadband. Thank You Mohammed, Big Corporations eh!
I'm fairly sure I went thru MSE, but how do you know that the charge doesn't apply?
Is there any MSE Staff out there who can verify this?? How do I contact MSE directly???
I really do not want to roll over to any Conglomerate!!!0 -
Can anyone from MSE comment? MSE are all too keen to promote these special offer partnerships on this site, but when a provider doesn't play ball, like Shell and breaks its promises, there seems to be no help here for all the many forum posters here that are in a struggle with Shell, who seem to have the most difficult to work out bills, and constantly trying to charge this 'cease fee'. Does it not apply to switches or terminations?
