This has already been done to death in this thread ... in this instance the laptop is not a core business tool and was not purchased as such. Therefore this is a Consumer contract not a B2B one.
I bought my latest laptop for general use and gaming. However if I ever get back to doing website design (as a sole trader) then I'll use the laptop for that purpose. Would you say my purchase was B2B? (If you say yes then you're wrong). The OP's position is exactly the same. (In fact I used to use my previous CPUK laptop on the same basis - personal use and website design. That one was still a consumer purchase not B2B).0 -
(Gets the popcorn ready)
btw if you were doomed are you not anymore ?2 -
But if OP was using the PC for her business and potentially held client details on her PC, and these become leaked somehow to others, either through the business owner being negligent in some way, then repercussions from the ICO would not be pleasant. Even if OP is insistent it is a personal PC, I doubt there will be sufficient safeguarding of this data, if any!
But as I have explained, OP knows best! Though I would get the popcorn, I doubt the OP will return!1 -

It’s a business purchase.
If the computer was used mainly for private use and occasionally for giving lessons then it may well not be a business related purchase as the CRA definition of a consumer is:an individual acting for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside that individual's trade, business, craft or professionThis is further amplified by the CRA explanatory notes:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/notesThis means, for example, that a person who buys a kettle for their home, works from home one day a week and uses it on the days when working from home would still be a consumer.
