Set myself a challenge this week to either save or make a fiver a day. It went really well so I’m going to carry it on to next week. Made £35 selling unused stuff on GuMtr33 and £20 trading in some tangled silver jewellery. I bought an lovely artificial Christmas wreath yesterday which rang up at the till £6 less than the marked price. And I got a Christmas present for DS in the charity shop for £3 - I was going to buy this very game for a tenner, new. Inspired by some fellow frugalers, I started ‘shopping from home’, using up food that probably would have gone to waste. Managed to not ‘nip to the shop’ for a wee this or that. These wee trips have become a daily habit that demolish our weekly food budget. Will attempt to restrict myself to 1 ‘nip to the shop’ next week for essentials. I’ve just joined survey site Prolific to earn some extra pennies so will see how I get on with that.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸5

It's been an other tumble of a week. Sort of had Tuesday morning off which was nice, but then a 5 hour return trip in the evening to pick up ds from uni house, where everybody was going home (both areas tear 1). Wednesday a long day at work, and a lovely b'day meal when I got home. Thursday WFH 8 hours of online teaching, and me mush, Friday a too quiet day of teaching a very small group. And here I am, the house is a tip, kitchen is a tip, my head is fairly straight and the sun is shining so here's the plan: Tidy kitchen, make granola, go for a run, run laundry and clean house and some windows where the double layer windows need to go back in for the winter, do some prep and creative work and tidy up garden. That should be plenty for one day. I also need to shop, walk dog and cook dinner. Today we will all go on a family walk and obviously all activities will be lockdown proof. Although might have to leave house for exercise and shopping. I might push shopping till tomorrow, on the way back from walk!
BTW slow cooker sounds nice, I might fancy some slow cooked lamb soon.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

I think l am going to have a go at making a wreath, but as l am making pjs and upcycling a wooden trunk it should probably wait until next weekend. The wreath will probably turn out crap 😂 but l have some limes that l can dry that are a but past it and l can collect some twigs and pine cones so it's just the ring and some.wire...passes the time. Then l can add it to the list of things l won't ever try again 😂
I am going to make pasties shortly for brunch, we don't have swede but l don't really like swede anyway so 😛 Might walk over the field to the small holding and get some eggs for a cake too. Probably a walk this afternoon. Maybe collect some pine cones, who knows...!

Morning folks!
@DayDreamerandGeneralWaster - I don't think that the wreath will turn out rubbish, they are quite forgiving, but I find you always need more green stuff than you think!
@ditty1234 - that sounds like a mission the last few days. sounds like today will be a nice sorting out type of day.
Quite a nice day here in the NW. I slept through til 8am this morning so must have needed it! Legs feel almost back to normal which is good. I finished the first of my niece's Christmas socks last night so I've just set it to block now. I did a lace pattern which seems to have a vertical kink to it, so it's a bit tricky to block; I've got it on a towel in front of the dehumidifier now. I bought some proper blocking pins in the last lockdown - def recommended.
Not sure what the plan is today. I'd like to get up to the allotment but I'm waiting in for a parcel. It's being delivered by RM so I'm hoping it comes soon. They are trying to discourage us from picking up from the sorting office so I booked a redelivery. In the meantime I might either start another sock or poss just potter round the house. If the parcel comes quite late and all enthusiasm for the allotment has abated, I'll make the Christmas cakes. if not it'll be this evening or tomorrow.
Have a good one folks

Morning all
(just about!)
Anything related to knitting and crocheting is a mystery to me CLF, but what is 'blocking'?Today I have / will:Dog walk first thingNoticed a jar with a couple of spoonfuls of tahini in the door of the fridge, so made hummus to use it upHummus is now in the freezer, as we won't eat it for a few days. Looks posh in its little pots, sprinkled with paprika, and nicer than bought
Got rid of a lurking jar from the fridge and avoided waste.
Got some bits out of the freezer to make naan bread pizzas, but had to put in a tub of butter chicken and an apple and raspberry crumble, so my emptying efforts aren't going too wellListed some items on ebay, and I have some ending todayMight do a new freezer inventory after lunch, and clean the fridge out.4
