When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning
thought I'd start us off so I could get my list up and order my thoughts/things I need to do - bit cheeky after not being around for a week but hey! Finally came out of the low I have been in for weeks, so need to strike while the iron is hot
Today:
* TOMM - have tidied up, washed up, put away washing already
* sort out car ins for new car I am getting tomorrowonly £17 increase in policy cost
* do finances & pay cc in full
* clean out car ready to scrap
* go through fridge/clean and organise
* write a small shopping list and pop to Lidl
* do some sewing for leisure
* list a couple of things for sale
Ok so not as much as I thought! Hope you all have a good day

Morning folks - hope I didn't cross post today
(Narrator: she did.)
I hope everyone is ok. Feeling a bit weird this morning. Not down but bit "out of myself". I didn't sleep too well so I'll put it down to that. Went to the gym. Only tomorrow left before lockdown. Really must bite the bullet and commit mentally to the home workouts
Need to start concentrating on budgets and small things a bit more. Def a tendency (am blaming covid) for a lot of creep in the budget. Extra treats due to not going out, heating/lights on more as we're in all day, things left plugged in.... will claim the £6 WFH tax relief when I do my SE tax return. Tried to wangle HMRC to add it to my tax code for the year but because it was over £1000, I must do a tax return.
So small things today - proper list:B/L/D from stores
OH working. Luckily the school WILL stay open during the new lockdown. He only had about 1/3 of his pupils when he was teaching online.
I'm WFH so less petrol used
Heating OFF. OH was cold last night (not sure why as was suitable wrapped up) and we had the fire on. I was BOILING. Had to strip down to a vest top and then was sweating all night. House still warm now.
Sort out and put away never ending washing pile. Hint to OH that he might like to do the same
Lay out things for gym tomorrow
Carry on knitting sock. I turned the heel last night so off down the foot.
Have a good day everyone. Keep safe

I am going to check the finance in a minute, think we will have enough for another month's payment off the loan.
Looking for the positives this week. All feels a bit 'meh'.
Might do some Christmas shopping online later.5 -

Hi all, going to try be a bit more active rather than a silent watcher this week
I've set my budgets for the month and bitten the bullet and taken some out of the emergency fund to pay of car which is 20% interest. Emergency fund is low but no car insurance etc to pay for a while so I'll be ok. Will be able to absorb car tyre repairs in to normal budget now anniversary celebrations have been cancelled.
Going to think of a more comprehensive weekly list later but for the rest of today we; work, worry about will be WFH or stay on campus, car tyre fixed and not replaced hopefully, walk dogs in dark, meal plan, food shop, fat club, load of washing done and hang out, and finally watch last night's top gear.
Positive vibes to you all. Few tears in the office this morning (not from me) as I think we're unsettled and coming off the back of the full moon.7 -
Afternoon allThanks for starting us off DNMS, pleased you are feeling brighterFeeling a bit down over the covid / lockdown situation, will miss my family - don't really care about any of the other restrictions.Weird weather today, one moment is is fine and sunny, then it suddenly buckets down with rain. Managed a dog walk in the dry this morning, now need to go out again (without dog, as OH is taking him to the vet this afternoon for his routine jab) to post a couple of ebay parcels. Making good use lately of my Drop and Go account, avoids hanging about / queueing with lots of other people, and easy to pay in advance online. May pop into W*itrose on the way back to pick up some eggs and fresh stuff, if it doesn't look busy. If it is heaving, I won't bother.Other than that:Kitchen and bathroom clear upChecked banks and updated spreadsheetPaid milk bill online(Not very MSE this one, though I did get a good discount) ordered some wine - not quite as decadent as it sounds, as it will last ages, I have probably got through one and a half bottles over the last 4 weeks, and some of that went into a casseroleHad a pizza out of the freezer between us for lunchDinner will be salmon.Better to get ready to head off out during the next break in the rain.5
