Morning
CLF how do you feel about being furloughed? I'm actually jealous! Although tbf working 2 x 12 hour shifts a week feels like I'm semi-retired!
I've been awake for a while - nothing to show for it though! Today work in the house continues so it makes it hard for me to get on with very much! Going to go to the allotment and start the big end of year tidy up.
B/L/D will be from stores
lunch will be a portion of batch made soup
read book/sew this evening
load of washing, double spin & hang out
make something with 1/2 pack of puff pastry in fridge

Struggling today with the impulse to stop teaching and start tidying up! I am teaching at home 8 hours on a Thursday, and the house is a bit of a tip - aaargh. And who made garlic butter! It's so delicious on discounted bread from c00p. Trouble in teaching land.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning folks!
Hmmm, I'm happy enough to be furloughed. I have lots to do at home as you said DayDreamer. I could happily keep myself quite contentedly busy even if I didn't work. I'm a tiny bit apprehensive about the more medium term in that our industry has been rocked a bit by covid (whose hasn't?) and I hope that the jobs pick up and they'll have reason to keep me on.
I meant to post yesterday but OH got up quite early (9.30!!) and we decided to go for a nice long walk. We originally thought a couple of hours but it turned into 10.5 miles. We walked along the coast from Meols to New Brighton and back and to be fair, the way there we were having lots of fun. Was a bit of a mistake though as due to the general circumstances of 2020, we're not as used to walking as we were. My calf muscles were very tight from Tuesday's gym workout and the upshot is, the last 3 miles were pretty miserable for both of us and I've twinged the back of my right knee. I slopped out with my knitting for the rest of the evening and had an early night. It's a bit better today but I'm going to take it easy. Clearly falling to bits as I approach my next birthday.
So today I think is going to be cooking for me and guitar for OH. He has a gig tonight! It's going to be recorded (obvs no audience and band appropriately distanced) and then streamed. I think that the streaming is paid for but if not, I'll pop a link up.B/L/D from stores. Both of us want to eat healthily over this lockdown
Make some pumpkin soup - pumpkin in oven
Put fruit for Christmas cakes into rum to soak - done. I use spiced rum to give a lighter cake than brandy. OH much prefers it. Could also be due to the sheer amount of booze I use
I remember putting the fruit in to soak a couple of years ago and my mum was there watching. As I poured the rum she suddenly exclaimed "that's enough now!" in a horrified and mum-ish tone. I slopped a good 100ml more in just to remind her whose cake it was. I'm in my late 30's for goodness sake and I've been making Christmas cakes like this for about 15 years! Mums eh?
Washing on - outside on the line if weather looks good enough. Saw the sun rising through the mist like a big red ball just before which was cool. - done
General potter and tidy of the house.
Update budget sheet. We're getting bad at not doing this. - my bit done
Have a good one all

Morning allFrosty, foggy dog walk again this morning, but the sun is coming out nowToday's list:General kitchen clean up DonePut a curry in the SC for tonight's dinner - Kashmiri butter chicken. Determined to use the SC more (I picked up a brilliant SC recipe book in a CS before they had to close) but need to get used to getting it going in the morning rather than waiting till an hour before we want to eat! Done, it made the house smell lovely - and was nice to eat as well. And there is enough for another meal tooFridge sort out, to ensure nothing is in danger of going off / getting wasted Still to doList some more bits on ebay Not doneSpot clean some marks on upstairs carpets - I chose a plain, pale colour throughout
What WAS I thinking??? But they have been down almost 10 years, so not looking bad considering. Thank goodness I had the sense to have hard flooring laid downstairs though! Done
Might pull up and cook remaining beetroot. They aren't very big, but I find they don't keep well in the ground in winter. I can always freeze them once cooked. Not doneUpdate spreadsheet and check banks. DoneOK, that will do!Not managed all my list today. I did however make 2 crumbles with some apples that OH was given the other day. He decided to sit and prep them this afternoon, so I stewed them, mixed with some HG raspberries from the freezer, made up a bowlful of crumble mix (added in some left over ground almonds also from the freezer, as I am trying to use up various bits to make space for some meat I have on order). One of the crumbles will go back in the freezer though..... as will the unused crumble mix. And these items will take up more space than a part packet of ground almonds and a small bag of raspberries5 -
@DawnW it might be easier to cook one day ahead when using the slow cooker, I find things like stew and bolognese better the next day.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hi all
I have ordered a flask, part paid for in vouchers. My transition to old lady is complete (cue fanfare). We think this will save us money on our walks in winter.
So glad it's Friday.
Sorry about your aches @carrielovesfanta.6 -

DayDreamer I love my flasks. I have several! Thermos coffee cup - no spillage and keeps a hot drink hot for a couple of hours, a double insulated drinks bottle which I keep a warm cherry squash with me in the winter and a wide necked one for porridge or hot lunch for work - this is in addition to the 2 regular flasks we own!DF as at 30/12/16

I've had a busy day today after yesterday doing nothing but laying on the sofa all day!
* went to the allotment and begun the winter digI always go off the allotment when I don't go for a while but when I do I remind myself that I love it!
* picked carrots, last of the runner beans and was given a chicory
* came home tidied up - house is a bomb due to work going on. Going to go and vacuum hallway/stairs and upstairs after typing this
* made giganti plaki for lunch with rice and runner beans and have enough for work tomorrow
* made 2 potato & cheese pasties and a sweet puff pastry with chocolate spread thingy for madam to use up some pastry in the fridge. It's a bit like a chocolate twist so went down a treat
* sat down and read free book with a home made mocha. Was lovely!
* did a horrid but quick job in exchange for oh fixing the blockage in our dw this evening!
* dinner is steak, pots and veg mmmmmm
* need to charge phone and get things ready for work tomorrow
Ok better get this vacuuming doneDF as at 30/12/16
