Do you have building regs for your "granny annexe"? Anything over 10.5 metres wide, like yours, is legally a "grandmother annexation" and presumptively illegal under well established law. See e.g. ICC-01/18 (16 March 2020). This country hasn't allowed a new annexation since 1955.

I don't think we're angry - just amused.  Perhaps a heli-pad on the roof would add to the value?  To be honest, the house set-up sounds like a HMO.

Well l think it's a fabulous idea to put a double storey extension on the second floor. Be sure to post pics when it's done. I'm sure it will be fabulous! Can't wait.

Que?  If you're saying you have a washbasin (or perhaps a shower) in every room - it's definitely sounding like a HMO, so you can safely ditch the heli-pad.

Planning permission isn't enough for a grandmother annexation, you need a court order. Not having one will substantially reduce the value of your house, it will make your neighbour's leaves and the opaque loft-hatch seem like minor issues.

An illegal annexation is a serious matter, with consequences in criminal law and more. In the 1940s people were even executed for it. The death penalty is now technically abolished but you should hope you don't get the wrong judge.
