Michael o'Leary bragging this morning on the DM that he was offering for people to swap their flights in November at no extra charge but failed to include the little clause "must be at least 7 days from the date of the flight" which excluded us since we only got 6 days notice from the Government !! I have now written to my MP, it is not bad enough that we will be expected to pay for this fiasco in soaring taxes, they are enabling airlines to rob their passengers too of money they can ill afford to lose.0

I dont see how your British MP can assist with a booking with an Irish airline, to be honest.Leodogger said:Michael o'Leary bragging this morning on the DM that he was offering for people to swap their flights in November at no extra charge but failed to include the little clause "must be at least 7 days from the date of the flight" which excluded us since we only got 6 days notice from the Government !! Ryanair is Ryanair, sadly. Absolutely great when things go right (never had an issue with them, very friendly staff, worst delay I have had is half an hour), but when global pandemics hit I can imagine the proverbial hits the fan.1 -
They operate on such a slim profit margin that they're going to push the law as much as possible to keep their cash.bradders1983 said:

During the last lockdown people did get stopped on motorways by police, including one person who drove between Lancashire and Wolverhampton to do an eBay pick up, who got fined.bradders1983 said:
Ist probably still miniscule. And more likely on local roads than the motorways I would suggest.Ben1989 said:My problem of 'risking it' is that we're travelling to Heathrow from Merseyside. Quite the drive down the motorway!0 -
Didnt that person have a wardrobe hanging out the back of his car and therefore stuck out like a sore thumb? Hardly applies to someone with a couple of suitcases in the boot. Nobody is likely to get stopped unless they draw attention to themselves.epm-84 said:

Just as an update and for info for anyone else booked to travel abroad, contacted the airline security at Bham about travelling during lockdown and they said they have no additional security checks to find out if people are travelling for business purposes exclusively, except for temperature checks and obviously you have to have the correct booking documents and QR code and she passed me through to what she said was Ryanair CS but turned out to be Swiss Port handling service for Ryanair and he said they had no government guidance on any additional checks to challenge why people are travelling and unless they receive further guidance from the Gov on Wednesday there is no additional security as such. Therefore we will continue to go since if we try to change our flights we will end up with up to £250 cost for admin and flight change price increases and if we lose the flights by being turned away we will lose £282 plus our taxi fares to and from the airport and consider the risk work taking.1

Even if it wasn't an official roadblock the police certainly were talking to all drivers on some roads leading to airports, as often airport car parks were being used for COVID tests and they caused huge traffic jams and miles of stationary traffic!bradders1983 said:
Maybe. I didnt hear of any police roadblock into an airport last time around though, they simply dont have the manpower. Airports would probably complain as well that they would delay passengers and would then miss flights.silvercar said:
I would have thought the most likely place to be stopped is on the roads into the airport.bradders1983 said:

Further update: To double check I spoke again to Ryainair chat line and they said they only need passport and tickets to check in but I should contact the embassy in the country I am heading to to check if that is all we will need from their end! Why the Spanish embassy would want to check why you are entering the country from the UK I don't know.0

There are no restrictions on UK nationals entering Spain but do check the details in the 2nd grey box here...Leodogger said:Further update: To double check I spoke again to Ryainair chat line and they said they only need passport and tickets to check in but I should contact the embassy in the country I am heading to to check if that is all we will need from their end! The chat has told you to check with the embassy as that is their stock answer: all entry requirements are the responsibility of the passenger.0
